Majestic Beds, a Detroit-based mattress company, recently conducted a sleep anecdotal evidence study in partnership with the US military to test the effects of their uniquely patented Majestic Fusion Topper and Majestic Pillow. Sleep deprivation and fatigue adversely impact performance but are too often a factor in military accidents. With more awareness around the importance of quality sleep, military branches are exploring how the right sleep surface can significantly improve military readiness, including recovery and performance. In a military-mandated study, overseen by premier Sports Performance Manager and Career Extension Specialist Mackie Shilstone, Majestic Beds was requested to provide six Fusion Mattress Toppers and Majestic Pillows, comparing if they would have a favorable impact over other sleep systems.

In the 18-month long study, which ended in November 2021, researchers utilized specialized watches and chest bands to measure the impact of nightly sleep on brain waves, heart rates, sleep stage durations, recovery time, and individual performance ratings on field training exercises. In the last three months of the study, the Fusion Toppers were distributed to one of the teams with the following results:
Deep sleep increased by 45 minutes
Average nightly rapid eye movement (REM) sleep increased by 30 minutes
Recovery times and performance scores in field training exercises improved such as shooting stages and training loads
Decrease in neck and cervical pain

In addition, it compresses into an 11-inch diameter roll for deployments.
