The Patients as Partners US Conference Announces 2020 Keynotes

Patients as Partners brings together biopharma, patients, advocacy and FDA to demonstrate the impact of engaging with patients throughout the drug development lifecycle to help create better clinical efficiencies and outcomes

The Conference Forum has announced the keynote speakers for the 7th annual Patients as Partners US event, taking place March 16-17 at the Hilton Philadelphia at Penn’s Landing in Philadelphia, PA.

Opening the 7th annual program is patient keynote, Jeff Borghoff, who will provide personal insights on his experience in the failed Biogen/Eisai Alzheimer’s trial.

Joining the program for the first time is Dr Chip Bell, world-renowned authority on customer loyalty and innovative service, to share tangible examples from the service industry to inspire R&D culture to support service-oriented thinking that brings value back to patients.

Industry keynotes are Dr Joanne Waldstreicher, CMO, Johnson & Johnson, and Dr Darryl Sleep, SVP, Global Medical and CMO, Amgen. They will give a CMO’s perspective on patient-centric research, making the patient experience central to business strategy and building a culture of patient centricity.

Ken Getz, Director of Sponsored Research Programs, Tufts CSDD, returns to the program, sharing new data on patient preferences and experiences to inform patient engagement strategies and tactics.

Four FDA agencies will provide patient engagement guidance updates, new efforts and participate in an FDA Town Hall session, including Anindita Saha, Director of External Expertise and Partnerships (EEP), CDRH; Michelle Tarver, MD, PhD, Director of Patient Science & Engagement, CDRH; Meghana Chalasani, Senior Research Analyst, Office of the Center Director, CDER; Karen Jackler, Patient Engagement Program Manager, CDER and Michael Kopcha, PhD, RPh, Director, OPQ.

As of December 10, 2019, the speaking faculty includes biopharma representation from Amgen, Johnson & Johnson, Genentech, Pfizer, Merck, Sanofi, Janssen, GSK, Takeda, BMS, Sangamo Pharmaceuticals, Biogen and Agios Pharmaceuticals, along with patients and advocates from GO2 Foundation for Lung Cancer, Hereditary Neuropathy Foundation, Parkinson’s Foundation and Huntington’s Disease Youth Organization.
