ICVA, the world leader in veterinary assessments, has announced that Courtney Vengrin, MS, PhD, has joined the organization as Senior Director of Assessment. In this new leadership position, Dr. Vengrin will use research-informed strategies to maximize the performance of ICVA programs, materials, and resources, while providing leadership and support in the areas of veterinary assessment, data science, database management, data visualization, and the assessment of learning.
“The goals of this position align perfectly with ICVA’s current strategic priorities,” explained Dr. Heather Case, CEO of the ICVA. “We are thrilled to have Dr. Vengrin’s experience and passion on the team, helping to continue to enhance NAVLE, further develop the ICVA’s existing assessment portfolio, and identify opportunities to successfully implement ICVA’s strategic assessment initiatives.”
Dr. Vegrin previously oversaw the Office of Curricular Assessment and Teaching Support at Iowa State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. She served as the Director of Assessment and Faculty Development for the college, connecting faculty and staff to resources and developing assessment and data visualization strategies for both research and educational needs. She brings a background in secondary and post-secondary education, with skills in curriculum design, adult education and pedagogy.
Dr. Vengrin will work closely with Dr. Kent Hecker, ICVA’s Chief Assessment Officer, to support and further develop the ICVA’s existing assessment portfolio. She is excited to build relationships with and continue to support the ICVA’s stakeholders, including outreach to licensing boards, academia and veterinary medicine, and supporting ICVA’s continued expansion internationally.
