The Child and Family Therapy Center of Denver Launches Psychiatric Care and Promotes Three Rising Leaders

The Child and Family Therapy Center of Denver, one of Colorado’s leading providers of pediatric mental and behavioral health services, announced the promotion of Melissa Sauter to Practice Director, Kaylee Jeffrey to Clinical Director, and Megan Sterzinger to Music Therapy Supervisor. It is also welcoming Dr. Kim Minich, DNP, FNP-BC to its team.

The Child and Family Therapy Center of Denver specializes in serving children with developmental disabilities, chronic illnesses, and complex medical and behavioral needs. The Child and Family Therapy Center of Denver team walks alongside its families on their journeys to navigate challenges and build family harmony. In addition to their new psychiatric care practice, they provide individual therapy, family therapy, play therapy, music therapy and massage therapy.

Sauter, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, joined the practice in 2015 and has previously served as a child and family therapist, as well as Clinical Director of the practice. She led the practice’s growth to offer client services in Northern Colorado, the opening of the practice’s north Denver location, and the organization’s partnerships with local schools.

Jeffrey, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, joined the practice in 2017 and has previously served as the Lead Child and Family Therapy Supervisor.

Sterzinger, a Board-Certified Music Therapist, has been a music therapist at The Child and Family Therapy Center of Denver since 2017.

Minich, a Nurse Practitioner with over 15 years of experience in pediatrics, will offer psychiatric services and medication management to clients throughout the state of Colorado. She will be serving clients solely through telehealth.

In their new roles, they will be leading the rapidly expanding community needs and impact that The Child and Family Therapy Center of Denver is making for children and families in the Front Range. Under their leadership, the team will be able to expand its availability to serve local families through the addition and expansion of the specialties it serves, as well as the recruitment and training of new therapists.

The Child and Family Therapy Center of Denver is a multi-disciplinary professional team of passionate and caring therapists covering the eight-county Denver area and serving over 750 families. Many services are also available via telemedicine statewide. It was founded in 2012 by Kelly Curnalia, LCSW to serve children with life limiting illnesses and developmental disabilities. Kelly Bianucci, its former Executive Director, will remain with the Center as its Operating Chair.

The Child and Family Therapy Center of Denver provides services through the following Children’s Waivers: Children with Life Limiting Illnesses (CLLI), Children’s Extensive Support (CES), Children’s Habilitation Residential Program (CHRP); and Adult Waivers: Supported Living Services (SLS). The Center also serves general Medicaid and CHP+, and is in-network for Anthem Blue Cross and accepts private payment.

The Child and Family Therapy Center of Denver is actively hiring for Licensed Professional Counselors, Licensed Clinical Social Workers, and other open positions.
