Summit BHC (“Summit” or “the Company”), a leading provider of addiction treatment and behavioral health services, today announced that Brent Turner has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Company. He succeeds Jon O’Shaughnessy, who has overseen Summit’s continued expansion to 21 addiction treatment centers and behavioral health hospitals in 15 states across the country. O’Shaughnessy will now serve as President of the company and remain actively involved in Summit’s business strategy, operations, and growth and development activities.
“I am honored by this opportunity to become the CEO of Summit. I appreciate Summit’s commitment to fulfilling its objective of becoming an industry leader by delivering high quality and innovative behavioral health and addiction disorder treatment,” said Turner. “I’m excited to work closely with Jon and the rest of the Board, executive management, and our extraordinary team of professionals as we pursue the next phase of Summit’s growth.”
Turner brings more than 17 years of executive healthcare experience, including with some of the largest behavioral health providers, where he worked to improve both financial results and quality of care. From 2011 to 2019, he served as President of Acadia Healthcare, where he led the expansion of Acadia from six facilities to almost 600 facilities, with an increase in revenue from $60 million to almost $3 billion. He spent seven years at Psychiatric Solutions, Inc. as Executive Vice President, Finance and Administration. During his time with Psychiatric Solutions, the company grew to 95 facilities.
“We are delighted that Brent has agreed to join the Summit family as its new CEO,” said O’Shaughnessy. “His breadth of business experience and leadership are critical to continue Summit’s strong momentum and carry us into this next stage of our growth and development.”
“His track record, depth of experience, and enthusiasm about joining our team make him an ideal leader to capitalize on our growth potential,” O’Shaughnessy added. “Furthermore, we are confident that Brent’s leadership will uphold our commitment to our clients and our core values.”
“Speaking on behalf of the Board, we are excited Brent was named CEO of Summit,” said Mark Gormley, Partner at Lee Equity Partners. “At the same time, we are thrilled that we will continue to benefit from Jon’s leadership and expertise. With Brent as CEO and Jon as President, Summit has a powerful advantage in the industry.”
