SELF Inc. has implemented a new feature, “Stress Coping”, in its AI counseling app “SELF MIND” for iOS. SELF MIND is a counseling application that uses the company’s proprietary AI (conversation engine).

Stress coping is behavior that has been shown to be effective in reducing stress when practiced during times of distress. They are methods that are highly related to cognitive behavioral therapy, such as encouraging a change of pace and positive thinking.

In SELF MIND, stress coping can be performed from the “coping library” within the app. This feature allows users to practice coping methods on their smartphones wherever and whenever they feel stressed. All coping methods are based on those reported by research institutes such as Stanford University and the University of Texas to be effective against stress. A total of 10 stress coping exercises are currently available in the app, with more to be added in the future.

In addition to stress coping, SELF MIND includes a number of counseling features. As a result of an in-app interview survey, 94.7% of users who used the app for a certain period of time reported a reduction in stress.
