Their dedication to educating the next generation is inspiring and selfless, which is often overlooked, so we want to publicly express our collective gratitude and thanks for their service.

Kansas City investors Scott Asner and Michael Gortenburg, Founding Principals of Kansas City’s Eighteen Capital Group (18CG), today praised education workers and staff as Kansas City schools return to in-classroom teaching.

Dozens of schools in districts across the Kansas City area will now use a combination of online learning as well as in-person teaching, which could potentially expose education workers to COVID-19.

Scott Asner and Michael Gortenburg would like to publicly draw attention to these brave workers who place their health on the line to ensure children are properly educated and attended to during this hazardous time.

School staff include:

  • Teachers
  • Principals
  • Coaches
  • Bus Drivers
  • Cafeteria workers
  • Administration staff
  • And more

“Our teachers, principals, and invaluable school staff members are placing themselves at risk to make sure that children are taken care of – we have to honor that,” stated Scott Asner. “Their dedication to educating the next generation is inspiring and selfless, which is often overlooked, so we want to publicly express our collective gratitude and thanks for their service.”

Michael Gortenburg added: “Many children don’t have an alternative or the ability to learn from home, so education workers are providing an invaluable service to account for that. It is a reminder of how crucial these workers are for our children and community throughout the year, whether facing a pandemic or not.”

Scott Asner and Michael Gortenburg would also like to applaud Kansas City school officials who have demonstrated careful planning to mitigate risk of community spread.
