Remedium Pharmacy stands ready to support our most vulnerable populations in any way we can.

Remedium Pharmacy, an independent compounding, long-term care and retail pharmacy based in North Chelmsford, Massachusetts, is proud to announce a major donation of medical accessories and personal protective equipment to the Lowell Senior Center in neighboring Lowell.

The assortment of PPE and medical accessories included procedural (surgical) masks and latex gloves, along with a sizable contingent of sanitary and diagnostic supplies, including individual-sized hand sanitizer dispensers, external thermometers, and pulse oximeters.

The donation is the most recent result of a fruitful collaboration between Lillian Hartman and Tara Donnelly of the Lowell Senior Center and Cristina Iepure, owner/pharmacist of Remedium Pharmacy. Organized by Iepure and David Palmerino, vice president of sales for Remedium Pharmacy, the equipment and accessories will enable the Lowell Senior Center’s staff to continue to safely and comfortably provide essential services to the at-risk populations reliant on the center for fellowship and support.

The donation is large enough to offset looming shortages of PPE, oximeters, and external thermometers amid rising COVID-19 case volumes and increasing strain on hospitals across the United States. The allotment should enable the Lowell Senior Center to operate normally into the holiday season, when supply chain disruptions tend to become more frequent.

“This year has been challenging for us all, especially the seniors and other individuals most at risk from this deadly virus,” said Iepure. “Remedium Pharmacy stands ready to support our most vulnerable populations in any way we can.”

In the short term, the senior center plans to use the donated PPE to bolster existing supplies of masks and gloves for its community transportation drivers and onsite staff members. The thermometers and oximeters will be used or distributed by city nurses and EMTs as needed, and the hand sanitizer bottles will ensure a high standard of sanitation throughout the facility.
