We are honored to be recognized in the prestigious SINET 16 Innovator Awards by this group of expert judges and to be part of the 2020 class of strong and innovative start-up companies.

ReFirm Labs, a provider of the industry’s first proactive IoT and firmware security solutions, has been named a 2020 SINET 16 Innovator Winner. ReFirm Labs was selected among hundreds of nominees around the world by the esteemed SINET Judging Committee, which consists of over 100 industry experts including CISOs in the private and public sectors, VCs and other high-profile influencers. This highly sought out annual award recognizes sixteen early-stage cybersecurity companies with innovative solutions addressing urgent marketplace needs.

IoT firmware is the next big attack vector and a national security issue. Due to the explosion of connected devices, IoT firmware – the specific class of software that controls the IoT device – presents a largely unprotected attack surface. Hackers can take advantage of vulnerabilities and backdoors to gain access to, and move laterally within, corporate or critical infrastructure networks for malicious behavior and nation-state espionage. As more regulations are being put in place to address these risks, device manufacturers and device buyers are struggling to comply.

“Our vision is that firmware security analysis will become a requirement for all connected devices, just as application security scanning has become required for mobile, web and enterprise applications,” said Derick Naef, CEO of ReFirm Labs. “ReFirm Labs is seeing record growth this year and we are honored to be recognized in the prestigious SINET 16 Innovator Awards by this group of expert judges and to be part of the 2020 class of strong and innovative start-up companies.”

Built by NSA offensive operators, ReFirm Labs Centrifuge analyzes firmware like a nation-state actor. Centrifuge is a cloud-based, highly scalable platform that vets, validates, and continuously monitors the security of IoT and embedded device firmware, protecting against emerging cyber threats while enabling automated compliance reporting and supply chain integrity. Centrifuge has been proven to increase productivity for security teams while reducing the number of breaches on internet-connected devices.

On Tuesday, October 20, during SINET Live, ReFirm Labs will be presenting a demonstration of its technology. For more information on the SINET 16 award, please visit here.
