“While I am saddened by the direction of the organization, I am proud of our history, accomplishments, and our long-standing reputation as a high-performing Quality Improvement Organization.

Qualidigm, the mission-driven not-for-profit healthcare consulting company based in Wethersfield, Conn. has announced it is winding down operations. For over 37 years, Qualidigm has been a leading national healthcare consulting and research organization, providing quality improvement and patient safety services to transform care delivery and improve outcomes. As a result of recent business slowdown due to COVID-19, a shift in the federal administration’s focus, dramatic delays and reductions in federal funding, with no reliance on donations as a not-for-profit organization, Qualidigm’s operations are no longer sustainable. After much careful consideration, the Board of Directors made the responsible action to dissolve the company on October 1, 2020.
As a 501(c)(3) organization, a measure of success for the organization has been to reduce the financial burden of the federal government. Over the last decade, Qualidigm has assisted the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services in avoiding over $400M in anticipated costs through the programs the organization has implemented across New England alone.
“While I am saddened by the direction of the organization, I am proud of our history, accomplishments, and our long-standing reputation as a high-performing Quality Improvement Organization,” said Timothy Elwell, PhD, MBA, Qualidigm President and CEO. “We are grateful and appreciative of the countless trusted relationships with many stakeholders who are also committed to transforming the quality, safety, and value of healthcare by leading, collaborating, and aligning improvement efforts. We take pride in our collaboration with healthcare providers throughout New England to make significant improvements to the quality of healthcare delivery resulting in $8.00 saved for each $1.00 invested by the federal government in our programs,” said Dr. Elwell.
As Qualidigm prepares to close its final chapter, the focus now is to look to the future to identify opportunities for continuing the organization’s important contributions to the healthcare industry. Qualidigm is diligently working with clients to explore opportunities to transfer current programs and Qualidigm workforce to other like-mind healthcare organizations. Additionally, the organization will be distributing any remaining assets to St. Joseph’s College of Maine and Quinnipiac University, two entities who, after a thorough review process, support the Qualidigm mission and provide meaningful opportunities to memorialize Qualidigm’s impact into the future.
With its corporate headquarters in Wethersfield, Conn. and locations in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Rhode Island, Qualidigm’s mission is to transform the quality, safety, and value of healthcare by leading, collaborating, and aligning improvement efforts. Qualidigm provides quality improvement, project management, evidence-based education and learning sessions, evaluation, and technical assistance services to clinicians, healthcare organizations, and communities. With over 37 years of experience improving healthcare delivery, the company is focused on leading the way to make New England the healthiest region in the United States. http://www.Qualidigm.org
