On Wednesday, November 25, 2020, be sure to wear purple warpaint to be an advocate for cystic fibrosis awareness. For the second year in a row, Piper’s Angels Foundation is presenting Warpaint Wednesday, a global day of activism and giving for the cystic fibrosis community fueled by the power of social media and community collaboration.

“Wearing warpaint has historical, traditional, and meaningful uses by cultures all over the world,” said Travis Suit, Founder & Executive Director of Piper’s Angels Foundation. “The reason why we encourage people to wear warpaint on this day is that you can derive a sense of strength, promote unity, and fight for what’s important. Anyone, whether they’re two years old or 80 years old, can wear warpaint.”

Warpaint Wednesday takes place the day before Thanksgiving in the U.S. and before Giving Tuesday to kick off the giving season from a place of gratitude and purpose.

There are many ways to participate in Warpaint Wednesday. Wear purple warpaint to show your alignment to the cystic fibrosis community and post a photo to social media with the tag #WarpaintWednesday. Another way to participate is to rally your community to host a Warpaint-themed event or encourage your local businesses to donate a percentage of their sales on the day of in support of CF. You can also make a donation directly to any of the participating cystic fibrosis organizations with the online crowdfunding campaign through GoFundMe.

This year, Piper’s Angels Foundation is forming a digital media partnership with The Digital Intellect, a full-stack marketing agency in West Palm Beach. TDI will help with marketing strategy and execution for the Warpaint Wednesday campaign. Piper’s Angels Foundation and The Digital Intellect came together in March 2020 after realizing they had common goals of community engagement and bringing awareness to an important cause.

“When we met Travis and the team behind Warpaint Wednesday, we saw their passion and desire to have an impact on the greater good,” said Robert Aycock, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of The Digital Intellect. “After learning about last year’s launch and its limited exposure, we knew we had to get behind this amazing cause for the CF community and do everything we can to push it forward.”

Last year’s inaugural Warpaint Wednesday was met with widespread enthusiasm from the cystic fibrosis community, even on an international level. It’s a day of activism, awareness, and celebration that thrives online in the CF community, where cystic fibrosis patients communicate regularly through digital avenues because of the extreme isolation that the disease causes. Now, with COVID-19 running rampant in 2020, the isolation has reached all-time highs in the immunocompromised CF community.

Cystic fibrosis is a chronic genetic disorder that affects the lungs and digestive system, often resulting in difficulty breathing, severe lung infections, and digestive problems. About 30,000 people in the U.S. and 100,000 worldwide suffer from cystic fibrosis.

“We encourage everyone to show support for those who have cystic fibrosis on Warpaint Wednesday,” Suit said. “We want cystic fibrosis warriors to know that they’re not alone. Wearing warpaint is simple, fun, and a way to empower people to become their own advocates.”

We are also very excited to see many more cystic fibrosis organizations jump on board and participate in Warpaint Wednesday. At this time, we have verbal commitments from CF nonprofits like Boomer Esiason Foundation, Claire’s Place Foundation, The Bonnell Foundation, Vivian Lee Foundation, Singing At The Top Of My Lungs. We also have international CF social media influencers on board like Ben Mudge, Travis Flores, Julia Rae, Marc Cotterill and many others to make Warpaint Wednesday the biggest day of activism for cystic fibrosis in the world. Any CF nonprofit-related organizations that create a campaign and fundraise for Warpaint Wednesday will receive 100% of their fundraising dollars to support their missions to support the CF community.
