Our partnership will allow Petal to achieve the economies of scale necessary to deliver on its re-imagining of the in-home waste storage process, while positioning us for future expansion beyond the North American market. If you were looking for a 100-percent delivery guarantee – this is it.

Petal, a high-tech consumer goods company set to launch the world’s first zero-odor, germ-freezing waste bin, announced today the formation of a strategic partnership with Danby Appliances, one of North America’s leading manufacturers and distributors of refrigeration, home comfort, and specialty appliances.

Petal is also thrilled to announce that Jim Estill, Danby’s Owner and CEO has joined its Advisory Board as the company’s Growth Coach.

Under this landmark deal, Danby will serve as the sole authorized manufacturer and servicer for Petal’s namesake product and all future additions to its product line-up. The Guelph, Ontario-based company annually manufactures over 2 million appliances and warrants and services over 200 million across its North American operations. Danby will oversee Petal’s tooling and manufacturing, while serving as a one-stop shop for its certification, warehousing, distribution, shipping and reverse logistic needs.

“Danby is a world-class manufacturer and one of the largest and most innovative appliance companies on the continent. With Jim Estill and Danby, Petal is entering its upcoming pre-sale event with absolute confidence that it can deliver on the orders it receives,” said David M. M. Taffet, Petal co-founder and CEO. “Our partnership will allow Petal to achieve the economies of scale necessary to deliver on its reimagining of the in-home waste storage process, while positioning us for future expansion beyond the North American market. If you were looking for a 100-percent delivery guarantee – this is it.”

Danby draws upon 70-plus years of experience and expertise in the manufacturing of refrigeration, home comfort, and specialty appliances loved by people continent-wide. For Petal, this partnership provides the physical infrastructure, global footprint, and operational firepower to rapidly accelerate the adoption of its revolutionary new appliance debuting first in North America.

Both Danby, with its track record for providing innovative, high-quality appliances at competitive prices, and Estill, a serial innovator and philanthropist who in 2018 was inducted into the Order of Canada, one of the country’s highest civilian honors for his response to the humanitarian crisis in Syria, represent the perfect partners for Petal’s purpose-driven enterprise.

“Petal has been on my radar for a while. As a company, it brings together a unique combination of disruptive innovation and deep social consciousness,” said Jim Estill, Owner and CEO at Danby, as well as the Founder and CEO of ShipperBee. “At Danby, we are thrilled to help bring this innovative new household appliance that freezes organic waste to market. On a personal level, I am impressed by Petal’s sincere commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and look forward to supporting this majority-female owned company’s efforts to reduce our reliance on environmentally-devastating single-use plastic bags.”

“Jim has done it all as an entrepreneur, but it is his heart and compassionate leadership demonstrated over four decades of humanitarian work that is most impressive about him,” added Christie Zwahlen, Petal co-founder and Executive VP of Social Impact. “He is a powerful example of how business leaders and businesses can be a force for good in our world. We will follow his lead. Our entire team is thrilled to welcome him to our Advisory Board.”

Petal is currently accepting signups to its waitlist before its much-anticipated pre-sale event opens the week of October 5 at PetalClean.com.
