First-ever World Movement Disorders Day to be observed November 29, 2022

[ad_1]

“Movement Disorders include a variety of complex medical conditions that affect a large and growing number of people. By increasing awareness of these difficult-to-diagnose diseases, more people can connect with professionals who have the specialized knowledge to provide proper care.”

Movement disorders are some of the most complex diseases to treat, diagnose and understand. In order to increase global awareness of this sub-specialty among healthcare professionals and the general population, the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society (MDS) is launching the first World Movement Disorders Day on November 29, 2022.

To increase awareness and honor this day, MDS will present an educational social media campaign throughout the month, leading up to a live virtual event with leading movement disorders experts on November 29. This date is of particular significance and was chosen to honor French neurologist, Jean-Martin Charcot, who is considered by many to be a pivotal influence on the study of movement disorders.

“Movement Disorders include a variety of complex medical conditions that affect a large and growing number of people,” said Francisco Cardoso, MDS President. “By increasing awareness of these difficult-to-diagnose diseases, it will be possible for more people to connect with professionals who have the specialized knowledge to provide proper diagnosis and management. We hope that many partners will join us in observing this new annual event.”

All global partner organizations, healthcare professionals and patients in the movement disorders community can help MDS to boost global awareness by sharing on social media using #MoveDisorder. More information and digital assets can be found at http://www.movementdisorders.org/day.

Holiday Media Campaign to Highlight Mental and Social Wellness Benefits of Recreational Fishing

[ad_1]

“A Lunkerville Fishmas” Premieres Saturday, December 24, 2022 at 6am EST on Discovery Channel

“The Lunkerville TikTok channel is exploding in growth, with multiple viral videos in the last month.” says Mike de Avila “We’re keyed into what our audience wants in entertainment and information, and that gives us the opportunity to present our messaging with skill and credibility.”

The Get Folks Fishing Foundation (GFF) is launching its annual holiday media outreach campaign, featuring the Discovery Channel TV special, ‘It’s a Lunkerville Fishmas’, bringing awareness to the mental and social health benefits of recreational fishing.

With TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts becoming popular video delivery formats for social media, GFF is increasing its social media publishing during the months of November and December, with special emphasis on short content under 1 minute. The Lunkerville TV series has an extremely popular verified Facebook page, with over 1/2 million organic followers, and one of the fastest growing TikTok channels in the fishing industry, with multiple videos going viral since its recent creation. These new platforms allow businesses to create engaging short-form videos that are perfect for the busy holiday season.

“The timing is great for this campaign because the Lunkerville TikTok channel is exploding in growth, with multiple viral videos in the last month.” says Mike de Avila (Mike D), founder of GFF and Lunkerville. “We’re keyed into what our audience wants in entertainment and information, and that gives us the opportunity to present our messaging with skill and credibility.”

The half-hour TV special will premiere Saturday, December 24th at 6:30am EST on the Discovery Channel, before Major League Fishing, and also on Amazon Prime Video, World Fishing Network, Waypoint TV, MOTV and all of Lunkerville’s broadcast and streaming partners.

Please watch this important short video message from Mike D as he explains how you can get involved in this important cause: Watch 2 minute video message

The GFF Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that seeks to improve the mental health and social wellness of individuals and communities through recreational fishing outreach programs. The initiative was started in the midst of 2020’s global Covid pandemic, by Lunkerville TV series host and creator, Michael de Avila (“Mike D”), who felt an urgency to address the growing mental health crisis, knowing first-hand how fishing helped bring him calm and connectedness during a period of high stress following 9/11. The Lunkerville TV series serves the cause by spreading the word through broadcast and streaming channels, offering philanthropic marketing partners media exposure commensurate with their involvement. On the ground, the Foundation offers free tackle to schools, youth organizations, and community groups; assists adults who want to volunteer their time to teach others how to fish; and provides support for those who want to learn. Azouz Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery in Dallas, Texas, Offers New Paradoxical Adipose Hyperplasia (PAH) Treatment

[ad_1]

News Image

“Paradoxical adipose hyperplasia (PAH) will not go away without treatment, and we are happy that our clinic can provide solutions these patients desperately need,” says Dr. David Azouz.

At Azouz Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery, the team strives for the greatest improvements in aesthetic appearance, restored functionality, and quality of life. The experienced team at this top clinic now offers paradoxical adipose hyperplasia (PAH) treatment for those who want to reverse this adverse effect. (PAH) is a common and concerning complication associated with cryolipolysis body contouring.

Cryolipolysis, or “fat-freezing,” is an FDA-approved procedure that works by destroying cold-sensitive subcutaneous fat cells. It has become a popular technique for body sculpting and treating problem areas such as belly fat and “love handles.” PAH is a concerning, clinically significant complication because patients undergo cryolipolysis to remove fat, but instead the volume of fat increases at the treatment site, resulting in a completely opposite outcome. Usually happening around six months post-cryolipolysis, PAH occurs when a reactionary process is activated within the fat cells during cell freezing, causing the cells to thicken and expand rather than break down and be eliminated by the body. PAH creates irregular, firm and raised areas where the treatment was done.

Azouz Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery can provide these patients with the only known treatment to reverse PAH, which is liposuction conducted with expertise to remove excess fat. Dr. Azouz utilizes his refined skill to perform a variety of advanced, safe liposuction techniques, including power-assisted liposuction, to help disintegrate the fat associated with PAH. In some severe cases, an abdominoplasty, or tummy tuck, can be done to repair the PAH. Recovery from PAH surgery is similar to other liposuction procedures, as patients may experience bruising and swelling for a few days to weeks after the procedure.

“Paradoxical adipose hyperplasia (PAH) will not go away without treatment, and we are happy that our clinic can provide solutions these patients desperately need,” says Dr. David Azouz.

California Criminal Defense Attorney Ken Rosenfeld Ensures All Charges Dismissed for Man Accused of Rape

[ad_1]

California Attorney, San Francisco | Sacramento | Stockton Criminal Defense Lawyer Ken Rosenfeld

San Francisco | Sacramento | Stockton Criminal Defense Lawyer

This is a tremendous relief for Mr. Rutan. Instead of years behind bars, he is free. He gets to see his child.

The Rosenfeld Law Firm announced today that a man facing charges of rape and violation of a restraining order has had all the charges against him dismissed as a result of the efforts of California criminal defense attorney Ken Rosenfeld.

According to the Superior Court of California, County of Placer (Case #62-176083), Rutan had initially been accused of raping and impregnating an immigrant woman from Albania he had met online. A permanent restraining order (PRO) was consequently placed against Rutan who was accused of violating his PRO by appearing at the woman’s home and was placed in jail. Although advised by his then-attorney to plea to sexual battery and receive its lower penalties (as per California Penal Code §243.4(a)), Rutan, acting on a second opinion received from Rosenberg just prior to his appearance in court, refused to plea. Rutan retained Rosenfeld as his defense attorney. Rosenfeld, supported by the discoveries of a private investigator, successfully showed not only that the woman in question had been seeking a green card and claimed she was raped only after Rutan refused to marry her, but also that the restraining order violation was the result of a setup orchestrated by the woman. As a result, all charges against Rutan were dismissed.

Rosenfeld said his client was relieved to put the matter behind him.

“This is a tremendous relief for Mr. Rutan,” said Rosenfeld. “Instead of years behind bars, he is free. He gets to see his child.”

Comagine Health Publishes White Paper on Transforming Utilization Management

[ad_1]

Marc Bennett, Comagine Health’s president and chief executive officer said, “Our new white paper offers a roadmap to redefine utilization management in a way that embraces collaboration, data and transparency to help people and achieve the Quadruple Aim.”

Comagine Health recently published a white paper “Transforming Utilization Management to Achieve the Quadruple Aim: Patient Experience, Better Health, Lower Cost and Improved Provider Work Life.” The white paper, developed by lead author Dr. Dan Lessler, Comagine Health’s chief clinical officer, offers a blueprint for the next generation of utilization management. The proposed model is based off a data-driven, evidence-based, collaborative and transparent process that embraces the Quadruple Aim of better patient experience, better health, lower costs and improved provider work life.

Comagine Health has an extensive history of providing consultation and services to a wide range of partners across multiple health care settings. With Comagine Health’s support, clients allocate their limited health care resources wisely by avoiding overuse, misuse and underuse of health services. Comagine Health’s utilization management best practices ensure patients receive the right care, in the right setting, at the right time.

Through technical and operational innovations, Comagine Health helps clients achieve greater value through efficient care management services and ensure Medicaid recipients receive the support and services they need to achieve better health.

Comagine Health serves approximately 3.2 million Medicaid beneficiaries with Medicaid agencies across the country. Over the past five years, Comagine Health helped Medicaid and other state agencies nationwide achieve more than $875 million in total gross savings through the avoidance of unnecessary or inappropriate medical procedures and reduced hospital admissions.

“Overutilization of medical services continues to burden the performance of the U.S. health care system. However, current efforts to address overuse have only limited potential to improve quality of care and promote health equity,” said Marc Bennett, Comagine Health’s president and chief executive officer. “Our new white paper offers a roadmap to redefine utilization management in a way that embraces collaboration, data and transparency to help people and achieve the Quadruple Aim.”

Dr. Lessler, Comagine Health’s chief clinical officer and author of the white paper, added, “It’s time to reimagine and redefine utilization management and envision a model that is embraced by all stakeholders and effectively promotes the goals of the Quadruple Aim.”

The Rosenfeld Law Firm Secures Mental Health Client’s Release from Incarceration; Client’s Felony Conviction Reduced to Misdemeanor

[ad_1]

Felony, misdemeanor, California Mental Health Attorney Ken Rosenfeld, serves Sacramento, sentence reduction

California Mental Health Attorney Ken Rosenfeld

This was quite an ordeal for our client. With mental health issues, he was left to atrophy in prison for a year, is now without a felony conviction, and is completely free. No probation, no jail time. Now he’s with his family.

The Rosenfeld Law Firm announced that a mental health client unlawfully incarcerated for a year has been freed, thanks to the efforts of the firm’s mental health attorneys. In the Superior Court of California, County of El Dorado (Case #P20CRF0130, July 22, 2022), the repeated intercession of California Mental Health Attorney Ken Rosenfeld on behalf of client Thomas Pearce resulted in all charges being dismissed and the felony strike against him being reduced to a misdemeanor.

Accordingly, Thomas Pearce was arrested and put on probation multiple times (RE: County of El Dorado Calendar). Following an inability to stand trial due to mental health reasons, Pearce received mental health evaluations that diagnosed him with severe mental health issues and recommended mental health services; Pearce was nevertheless released into society without said services. Subsequently, Pearce was arrested for violating a protective order involving a family member, and, pursuant to California Penal Code §1203.3 PC, faced felony charges.

According to the Judicial Branch of California, County of El Dorado, Online Criminal Case Index, Pearce pled guilty to this felony strike and was again placed on probation. A subsequent arrest for probation violation brought into question Pearce’s mental competency to stand trial, and after a stint in a mental health facility to restore competency, Pearce was determined competent to stand trial and was later sent to jail. Upon the involvement of Rosenfeld and Mental Health Attorney Ron Irwin, wherein Pearce’s criminal acts were shown to be the result of underlying mental health issues, it was determined that Pearce’s previous jail time not only satisfied the term of care to dismiss all charges, but also exceeded by a year the maximum amount of jail time legally allowed for his offenses, Pearce was immediately released. Rosenfeld proceeded to successfully negotiate the reduction of Pearce’s felony conviction to a misdemeanor.

Rosenfeld said he was pleased that The Rosenfeld Law Firm was able to quickly get Pearce out of jail and give him the kind of legal assistance their mental health client needed.

“This was quite an ordeal for our client,” said Rosenfeld. “This kid with mental health issues, left to atrophy in prison for a year, is now without a felony conviction and is completely free. No probation, no jail time. Now he’s with his family.”

Study on Prem Rawat Foundation’s Peace Education Program Shows Exceptional Benefits for Incarcerated People

[ad_1]

Incarcerated women participate in the Peace Education Program in Brazil.

Incarcerated women participate in the Peace Education Program in Brazil. A comprehensive new study shows the program is having remarkable benefits.

The study analyzed the impact of the Peace Education Program on 5,276 incarcerated individuals in Brazilian correctional facilities. 99.7% of participants reported benefits, and the study concludes that the program is making a very positive impact on almost all incarcerated peoples’ lives.

The Peace Education Program has a wide range of remarkable benefits for incarcerated people, including reducing anxiety, increasing self-understanding and self-improvement, and enhancing hope and appreciation for life, according to an extensive new study.

Conducted by Ace Insights, an independent market research company, the study analyzed the impact of the program on 5,276 incarcerated individuals in Brazilian correctional facilities. Noting that “the quantitative findings are extremely robust,” 99.7% of participants reported benefits, and the study concludes “that the Peace Education Program is making a very positive impact on almost all incarcerated peoples’ lives.”

On October 25, the study results were presented at the International Corrections and Prison Association Annual Conference in Orlando, Florida. The conference is one of the premiere gatherings of corrections professionals and experts in the world. More and more of them are embracing the Peace Education Program as an empowering resource for positive change, both for themselves as well as the incarcerated people they serve.

Demonstrating its cross-cultural relevance, 300,000 people in 80 countries and in 40 languages have participated in the Peace Education Program to date, including 100,000 people in 775 correctional facilities.

The innovative workshop series gives people an opportunity to reflect on their own humanity, increasing self-awareness in support of resilience, empathy and wellbeing. TPRF Founder Prem Rawat’s video presentations are at the heart of the workshops, encouraging participants to explore the ten themes of Peace, Appreciation, Inner Strength, Self-Awareness, Dignity, Choice, Hope, Clarity, Understanding and Contentment.

The most recent study on participants in prisons in the State of São Paulo, Brazil adds to a growing body of evidence of the program’s successful results. Other studies have shown similar positive impacts for people in correctional facilities across 4 continents, as well as for participating high school and university students in the U.S., U.K., New Zealand, and Colombia.

“It’s wonderful to see that the new study on the impact in Brazil confirms what we’ve found elsewhere across the globe: this program can help transform lives no matter how challenging the circumstances,” says Peace Education Program Director Willow Baker. “It was an honor to present the study and more information about the Peace Education Program this week at the ICPA conference and to meet so many dedicated people who want to make a positive difference in the field of corrections.”

The Peace Education Program workshops can be offered in person, virtually, or on inmate tablets by ViaPath and Edovo (tablet versions currently available in the U.S. only). The Prem Rawat Foundation makes the workshop materials available free of charge.

To implement the program at correctional facilities in Brazil, The Prem Rawat Foundation partners with the Prison Education Foundation (FUNAP), a state foundation under the Secretariat of Penitentiary Administration in charge of helping inmates to rehabilitate and reintegrate into society through educational, labor, cultural and legal assistance initiatives.

The Peace Education Program is just one of the ways that TPRF advances dignity, peace and prosperity by addressing fundamental human needs.

TPRF’s Food for People program has served over 4.7 million nutritious meals to disadvantaged children and elderly people in India, Nepal and Ghana.

Since Prem Rawat founded TPRF in 2001, it has given over 160 grants totaling over $5.7 million to a variety of partner NGOs in 40 countries to help victims of natural disasters, COVID-19 and other traumas.
