“We’re the first rehab facility in Southern California to offer this particular TMS therapy in-house, harnessing state-of-the-art ‘theta-burst’ technology – developed by a Danish company named MagVenture – that’s ten times faster than what most facilities are able to offer.”

Oro House Recovery Centers, Southern California’s acclaimed dual-diagnosis inpatient and outpatient treatment facilities, is debuting the use of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) Therapy for treating resistant depression and other mental health issues, including addiction. With this launch, available to clients at their Malibu and Los Angeles locations, as well as to the general public, Oro House is now the first treatment center in Southern California to offer TMS Therapy in-house.
Oro House’s dual-diagnosis treatment method means that patients are simultaneously treated for drug/alcohol addiction and co-occurring mental health issues. TMS, which has been approved by the FDA for its effective treatment of Major Depressive Disorder when other therapy methods haven’t worked, has also shown positive outcomes in the treatment of other conditions, including Drug & Alcohol Addiction, Anxiety, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Schizophrenia, and Migraine Headaches. The addition of TMS to Oro House’s list of available treatments serves the facility’s goal of treating underlying mental health issues in order to holistically and more effectively approach addiction recovery.
“At Oro House, we’re always looking for new treatments to address our patients’ needs,” said Oro House Co-Founder Evan Haines. “We’re incredibly proud to be the first and only rehab facility in Southern California to offer this particular cutting-edge TMS therapy in-house, harnessing state-of-the-art “theta-burst” technology – developed by a Danish company named MagVenture – that’s ten times faster than what most facilities are able to offer.”
Since gaining FDA approval in 2008, TMS Therapy has become available at facilities nationwide; however, in most cases, the sessions take up to 40 minutes to complete and require several sessions a week. With Oro House’s state-of-the-art MagVenture Theta Burst TMS Machine, which received FDA clearance in 2018, the typical therapy session lasts only three minutes.
By taking advantage of the latest, most efficient technology, Oro House is able to offer more comfortable and more effective treatment than most other facilities — and by offering the service in-house, Oro House’s TMS treatment is ultra-convenient for the centers’ patients.
A list of baseline questions about TMS are answered below:
-
What is it?: TMS Therapy is a non-invasive form of safe, painless brain stimulation given while the patient is fully awake without sedation or medication. - How does it work?: A technician positions a magnetic coil over the head, which delivers magnetic energy pulses to regions of the brain associated with mood, stimulating or creating neuronal activity in regions of the brain responsible for making us feel happy or “normal.”
- Who is it for?: TMS Therapy is an ideal treatment approach for those with Major Depressive Disorder who have not had success with medications. It has also worked in treating Anxiety, Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), addiction to drugs or alcohol, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Schizophrenia, and some types of traumatic brain injury (TBI).
Oro House’s team of medical experts treats each patient as an individual, assessing their specific addiction and mental health needs and mapping out a plan accordingly. TMS Therapy is the newest of Oro House’s several comprehensive dual-diagnosis therapies, including medication assisted treatment; trauma-informed cognitive and dialectical behavioral therapy; holistic-based therapy; psychodynamic therapy; and more.
Named the #1 rehab facility in California by Newsweek and Statista, Oro House is also newly in-network with Anthem Blue Cross at their LA locations, making TMS and other treatments accessible to a significant number of prospective clients, as well as to members of the general public who are not otherwise clients of Oro House.
