Home Base, a partnership of the Red Sox Foundation (RSF) and Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), has been breaking new ground, leading regional and national efforts with a multi-disciplinary team of experts working together to help service members, Veterans, and their families heal from the invisible wounds of TBI, PTS, and related conditions.
In this segment, viewers will hear from experts in the field about Home Base and its initiatives, which are specifically designed to overcome common barriers to care for returning Veterans.
Providing care and support since its inception to more than 24,000 Veterans and family members, and having trained more than 79,000 clinicians, educators, first responders and community members – audiences will learn how Home Base works to ensure a brighter future for the 21st century warrior and military family.
“Home Base has reimagined what is possible and developed new models of care For Veterans with mental health and brain injuries received during their service to this nation. Through these intensive clinical programs, we now fly veterans and their family members to Boston and provide them with the best care possible all at NO Cost to them,” said retired Brigadier General Jack Hammond, Executive Director of Home Base. “We have leveraged the deep clinical resources of Mass General Hospital, and Harvard Medical School faculties, technology, and emerging evidence-based treatments to provide life-saving, holistic care to Veterans and military families from across the nation.”
Spectators will see how Home Base’s integrated team of child and adult psychiatrists, clinical psychologists and neuropsychologists, nurses and nurse practitioners, physical medicine and rehabilitation specialists, licensed clinical social workers, addictions specialists, and peer-to-peer outreach coordinators – many of whom are either Veterans, Active Duty or military family members themselves – work together to ensure that Veterans and their Families receive or are connected to appropriate and uniquely-tailored care.
