Nashville Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center announces the addition of Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr. Alexander Brown to the team

Dr. Brown brings the latest innovations and science in sports medicine and joint replacement.

Nashville Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center is proud to announce the arrival of Dr. Alexander Brown. As described by NSMOC Founder Dr. Thomas Byrd, “Dr. Brown is an exceptionally talented, highly trained young orthopaedic surgeon.” Dr. Brown’s heritage includes a strong family background in medicine and equally strong family ties to the Middle Tennessee and Kentucky area.

Dr. Brown will be specializing in conservative and surgical management of simple to complex injuries of the knee, shoulder, and elbow. Additionally, he will be performing joint replacement surgery for the knee, hip, and shoulder. Dr. Brown provides a mastery of robotic surgery methods for these procedures. “Dr. Brown brings the latest innovations and science in sports medicine and joint replacement,” Dr. Byrd points out.

Dr. Byrd proudly adds, “His father, a general surgeon, and I were colleagues in residency training together. Dr. Brown and his lovely wife, Jane Marie, an accomplished attorney, were also well known to my daughter when they were all undergraduates together at Centre College.”

Before joining Nashville Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center, Dr. Brown completed a fellowship at the American Sports Medicine Institute (ASMI) in Birmingham, Alabama. ASMI was founded by Dr. James Andrews. Dr. Byrd points out, “Dr. James Andrews is my mentor and it is great to bring fresh blood from his same Institute to join me here in Nashville.”

Dr. Brown recently served as the assistant team physician for the Troy University football team in Troy, Alabama. Dr. Brown’s expertise has also benefited other schools’ football, hockey, and baseball athletes over the past five years.
