MaintenX International, a Tampa-based facility maintenance provider, made strides toward providing more breast cancer research and patient services in Tampa Bay at the 7th Annual Treasure Chests 5K and Fun Run. More than 35 MaintenX team members ran in the charity race put on by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and powered by Jabil.

“We are proud of our MaintenX team members who took time from their schedule to show their support for this worthy cause,” said Mary Ann Velez, MaintenX’s National Director of Service, who organized the company run for the second year. “We are glad we can show our support to employees or their family members who are familiar with this terrible disease.”

MaintenX covered the registration costs of any team member that wanted to participate in the event. MaintenX team members were among the top time finishers, including Jorge Bravo, Matthew Colon, Dan Fish and Luis Torres who finished in the top 300 men and Tracy Gaw and Emy Calix who finished within the top 400 female runners. With more than 2000 runners overall, MaintenX is proud to have been able to raise funds and have a competitive showing at the race.

All runners had the opportunity to cross the finish line in the Bucs state-of-the-art indoor practice facility and opportunity to stay and watch the Bucs take on the Arizona Cardinals in their breast cancer awareness game. Proceeds from the run benefitted community organizations focused on breast health, including the Advent Health Foundation, American Cancer Society, Florida Cancer, and Moffit Cancer Center.

MaintenX believes that giving back to the community is an important part of business success. In addition to the Treasure Chests 5K, MaintenX has given back to a number of community organizations including sponsoring homes with Habitat for Humanity, volunteering at Home Depot Foundation service events and providing hundreds of gifts for children in need through the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program.
