Maestro Health, tech-enabled third-party administrator (TPA) for employee health and benefits, today announced the appointments of Kathleen Sweitzer as General Counsel and Pete Murphy as Chief Technology Officer. Sweitzer leads Maestro Health’s legal, compliance and security teams, and Murphy oversees all technology strategy and delivery. They both are members of the executive team, reporting to Maestro Health’s CEO, Craig Maloney.

“Kathleen and Pete’s passion for transforming the healthcare industry, coupled with their decades of experience, is what makes them the perfect additions to our leadership team,” said Craig Maloney, CEO at Maestro Health. “They are changemakers in their respective fields, and I’m excited to see how their expertise and innovative thinking guides our strategy and moves the needle for our clients and their trusted advisors.”

Prior to Maestro Health, Sweitzer served as Associate General Counsel at Aon where she was the chief lawyer for the U.S. Health Solutions business, which provides a broad range of services to health plans, healthcare entities and employers. Before that, she was a partner in the Chicago office of Tressler LLP and represented major insurers in ERISA and corporate liability litigation in federal courts throughout the country.

“I’m honored to serve as the first general counsel in an innovative healthcare environment at a growing company that is backed by one of the largest insurers in the world,” Sweitzer said. “Together with the leadership group and my team, I look forward to cultivating the legal function from the ground up and supporting the business to drive change in the market.”

Murphy most recently served as the interim CIO of CareSource where he oversaw more than 1,000 IT employees and staff, managed data warehouse and business intelligence improvements and led technical planning for a new line-of-business initiative. He also served as CIO at Cardinal Innovations. In his 30 years of experience, Murphy has held various leadership positions, including CTO and CISO at TIAA-CREF, senior operational risk manager at Bank of America and the first CISO of AmSouth Bank (now Regions Financial).

“The healthcare industry is at a pivotal turning point where innovators and risk takers are seeing the most growth, and I’m excited to help drive that transformation at Maestro Health,” Murphy said. “By bringing my experience and industry insight into the technology program at Maestro Health, I intend to enable enhanced user experiences, drive better outcomes and improve quality and delivery for our teams and our clients.”
