ITBiometrics Releases RemoteTempCheck™ Amid COVID Crisis

With the growing need for accurate identity and temperature verification, the RemoteTempCheck™ design ensures that faces can be correctly identified with masks and detect fevers.

ITBiometrics, a biometrics company that specializes in security for online financial transactions using biometric identity authentication, announced that it released its new product, the RemoteTempCheck™, in an effort to help businesses mitigate the effects of COVID-19.

New coronavirus-era surveillance and biometric systems have hit the market hard trying to meet the growing demand for products that will remotely check temperatures of employees and customers before they enter the building. Biometric and facial recognition technologies are being rapidly adopted, and in some products, combined to protect against the pandemic, largely due to the fear that fingerprint scanners are a potential platform for the disease to spread.

Though there are great opportunities for technology to make an impact during the COVID era, many biometric temperature scanners with facial recognition are faulty and inaccurate. The Chairman of ITBiometrics, Howard Prager explains, “Many other identity verification systems can be spoofed with pictures of faces, they often cannot read faces that have masks, and they cannot read subtle changes in temperature to verify a fever.”

“The RemoteTempCheck™ is changing all that,” said Prager. “With the growing need for accurate identity and temperature verification, the RemoteTempCheck™ design ensures that faces can be correctly identified with masks and detect fevers.”

The RemoteTempCheck™ features include:

  • Facial recognition and identity verification for employees
  • Accurate temperature check to ensure employees don’t have a fever
  • Time clock to record the time employees check-in and out

“We developed the RemoteTempCheck™ to be ideal for businesses that want to take a proactive approach to protect their customers and employees during COVID—without needing an additional employee to manually check temperatures at the door,” Prager adds.

Indeed, many establishments would rather have a non-intrusive way of checking for signs of COVID. Hence the increased amount of biometric tablets that are being installed at doorways we’re seeing today.

With the market becoming flooded with biometric tablets, it’s difficult to discern whether or not accuracy is being maintained as you’re scanning yourself in. However, ITBiometrics is on a mission to make a meaningful impact by designing the RemoteTempCheck™ to maintain accurate identity verification and temperature reading.

Prager emphasizes that “Our priority is to make sure we’re helping others stay safe and healthy during these unprecedented times, and our team of visionary inventors is uniquely capable of doing so with our RemoteTempCheck™.”
