The 2021 Edison Awards was celebrated this year in Ft Myers, Florida in the brand new, state-of-the-art, Caloosa Sound Convention Center on April 22nd.

The Edison Awards have recognized and honored some of the most innovative new products, services, and business leaders in the world since 1987. Following a comprehensive review by the esteemed steering committee, winners are selected by 3,000 innovation leaders from the fields of product development, design, engineering, science, marketing and education, including professional organizations representing a wide variety of industries.

The day prior to the event the Edison Award finalists and their guests enjoyed a casual celebration at the beautiful and historic Edison/Ford Winter estate. Participants were able to tour the grounds which included cottages, frozen in time, with all the same fixtures, furniture & artwork etc. A highlight of this tour is Edison’s laboratories and museum.

“We believe this gold medal, awarded in the consumer goods category, is the first in the mattress industry and a great achievement and well deserved honor for our company based in South Korea,” shared Scott Shamley VP of Global Sales & Operations for iOBED International. “Our Body Sensing Technology took over 5 years to commercialize.”

“The highlight of the evening gala was hearing the announcer call the Silver Award for our category and it wasn’t iOBED! beamed Scott Smalling EVP of Global Sales & Marketing. “With the recent award shows in Hollywood airing this month, I liken an Edison Gold Medal Award for innovation to what it must feel like to win a similar award for acting or directing a film,” continued Smalling.

Thomas Edison actually has a loose connection to the bedding industry while he was trying to create a synthetic rubber to help with the auto industry, he worked with natural tree rubber that we know today as Latex foam rubber.

“Congratulations to iOBED International on winning the 2021 Edison Gold Award,” said Ryan Trainer, president of the International Sleep Products Association. “Products that help people lead a healthy and happy life have a positive impact on the world. The bedding industry is fortunate to have many creative companies that are using technology to give consumers a better night’s sleep. As our industry responds to the changing needs of the bedding customer, it is exciting to see iOBED recognized for its innovative and inspired design.”

The Edison awards is an annual international event celebrating the best in innovations from all over the world.

iOBED International currently has partnerships with KING KOIL in the United States and RESTONIC in Canada.
