Innovative Health Launches Virtual Learning Seminars in Wake of 2020 Heart Rhythm Scientific Sessions Cancellation

Innovative Health, Inc. today announced the availability of three new informational web sessions, being held in early May, to help fill the learning gap left by the cancellation of this year’s Heart Rhythm Scientific Sessions. These sessions will educate administrators and clinicians on new and emerging opportunities for cost reductions through the reprocessing of advanced EP devices.

“When the ongoing novel coronavirus pandemic prompted the cancellation of the 2020 Heart Rhythm Scientific Sessions, administrators and clinicians lost access to their usual forum for learning about new technological and clinical advancements in our industry,” said Innovative Health CEO Rick Ferreira. “Innovative Health is helping to overcome this shared obstacle by bringing new educational programs to a virtual environment. The chosen topics, all focused on how hospitals can reduce EP lab costs through better utilization of device reprocessing, will be particularly relevant as administrators and clinicians prepare for the reopening of EP labs—and subsequent pent-up demand for procedures—when this ongoing health crisis recedes.”

The three webinars are as follows:

  • May 4 – How Specialty Reprocessing Helps You Save More: An overview of the current reprocessing landscape and how specialty reprocessors are improving cost-efficiencies in EP labs through their specific regulatory, scientific and program management competencies.
  • May 7 – Advanced Reprocessing Technology: Reprocessing of Lumened EP Devices: A technical look at new techniques for reprocessing some of the most complex devices used in today’s atrial fibrillation procedures, and an analysis of the cost savings opened up by recent FDA clearances in this space.
  • May 12 – Unaddressed Reprocessing Opportunities in the EP Lab: A future-looking evaluation of currently non-reprocessable EP devices that, if cleared for reprocessing, could open vast new opportunities for costs savings and greater access to EP procedures.

In addition to these new educational programs, Innovative Health also announced that 30 EP labs around the country have been awarded Innovative Health’s 2019 reprocessing award for financial and environmental sustainability achievements in the EP lab. The awards were presented to the labs in January and February of 2020. The awards celebrate hospitals that have reached high levels of success saving important financial resources in the EP lab by using reprocessed single-use devices. Several EP labs had reached savings of more than $1 million per year.

Innovative Health has an aggressive, committed FDA clearance program that allows the company to constantly add new devices to the EP lab’s reprocessing program, increasing savings over time. The company received FDA clearance to reprocess the Medtronic Achieve® Catheter Connecting Cable in January, completing its portfolio of Medtronic diagnostic EP and mapping catheters, as well as accessories. Another 3 devices are under review with FDA, and the company expects to make an additional 5-6 devices available for reprocessing, further distancing Innovative Health from its competitors that cannot offer these important savings opportunities to EP labs.
