Ideal Option, a national leader in evidence-based addiction treatment with 83 clinics and over 60,000 patients helped, is now open in Omaha. With the addition of Nebraska, Ideal Option has clinics in 11 U.S. states.

The new clinic, staffed by one of Ideal Option’s most seasoned addiction medicine specialists, offers personalized treatment plans with FDA-approved medications for recovery from all types of addictive substances.

Fentanyl, a dangerous and highly addictive synthetic opioid, has been the primary driver of the recent increase in overdose deaths in Nebraska. Although methamphetamine remains the drug of choice, as many as two-thirds of all overdose deaths today involve fentanyl, state officials say.

“Typically, we didn’t see a whole lot of fentanyl in Nebraska,” said Steve Bell, assistant special agent in the DEA’s Omaha office, in April 2022. “But, so far this year, we have over 100,000 tablets containing fentanyl here in Omaha alone.”

The new clinic in Omaha is opening at a time of desperate need for expanded access to evidence-based treatment from experienced and specialized providers.

Based on Ideal Option’s 2021 Annual Patient Outcomes Report, fentanyl positive rates at enrollment were up by 100% displacing heroin positive rates which were down by 47% compared to 2020. The data also support the effectiveness of treatment. Among patients who remained in treatment with Ideal Option during 2021, urine drug testing shows:

  • 98% less fentanyl use
  • 92% less total opioid use
  • 85% less methamphetamine use
  • 95% less heroin use

“I have been providing addiction treatment via telemedicine with Ideal Option for the past 5 years,” said Nathan “Ed” Kaiser, FNP. “Having lived in Omaha for nearly 20 years, I have seen firsthand how opioids and other drugs ruin lives and families. I am excited to now see patients face-to-face in our new clinic, help them recover from this terrible disease and get their lives back. There are multiple aspects to recovery, but medication-assisted treatment is shown to be the most effective.

The new Ideal Option clinic in Omaha is open Monday – Thursday, 7:30 a.m. – 6 p.m. and is located at 13906 Gold Circle, Ste. 100, Omaha, NE 68144.

Most forms of insurance are accepted, including Medicare and Medicaid, and patients can typically get started on treatment for fentanyl, methamphetamine, alcohol or other substances within 1-3 business days.
