Elev8 Cannabis Announces Grand Opening in Athol, Massachusetts

We believe we’ve created both a safe and exciting retail space for the Athol community, Seun Adedeji, Elev8 Cannabis Founder and CEO

Elev8 Cannabis, an emerging adults-medical cannabis company with one dispensary in Eugene, Oregon, and three others to open by spring 2021 in Massachusetts, announced today the grand opening of its first Massachusetts dispensary. A ribbon-cutting ceremony begins at 1 pm at the dispensary. Its address is 243 Main St., in the city of Athol. Elev8 Cannabis is the first dispensary to open in the city and is the first African American-owned cannabis retail dispensary in western Massachusetts. With today’s announcement, Elev8 Cannabis becomes one of the largest African-American-owned cannabis chains and dispensaries in operation coast to coast.

Elev8 Cannabis Athol Grand Opening

The grand opening festivities will welcome customers inside its store with music, opportunities to meet the staff, and a chance to peruse and shop from an array of fully stocked shelves. Weedmaps swag bags will be distributed while supplies last. Visitors to the dispensary must be adults age 21 and older. The dispensary’s capacity is limited to 10 customers at a time. Everyone is required to wear a mask and practice social distancing. “As a Roxbury resident, I am especially excited to open my first Massachusetts dispensary in Athol,” said Seun Adedeji, the founder and chief executive officer of Elev8 Cannabis. “Not only will the Athol community have access to high-quality cannabis health and wellness products, but they will also have a sleek retail environment to experience it and shop.”

The dispensary occupies a 2,000 square foot renovated building designed to provide customers with a memorable retail shopping experience. The floor plan allows for ample spacing between customers to support the social distancing requirements while shopping, throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. “All in all, we believe we’ve created both a safe and exciting retail space for the Athol community,” said Adedeji. “We’ve even added a few extras to elevate customers’ enjoyment factor, including several fun interactive stations to create selfies and pictures and to write messages.”

Support for Cannabis Grows

Elev8 Cannabis Athol’s grand opening comes at a time in the country as more Americans support legalizing marijuana. Approximately two-thirds of Americans say they support legalizing marijuana, according to a recent Pew Research Center survey. “The steady transition to a legal, regulated cannabis market in Massachusetts is a good sign, particularly during this time of economic uncertainty and pain,” said Shaleen Title, a Commissioner of the Cannabis Control Commission in Worcester County. “As one of the people charged with ensuring that people of color and businesses of all sizes are encouraged and included in this state’s industry, it is heartening to see more minority-owned businesses like Elev8 Cannabis beginning to open, with many more licensed and in the pipeline to begin operating soon.”

The opening of two other Elev8 Cannabis dispensaries occurs next year in Orange and Williamstown.
