Edgenuity Earns “A” Grade from Florida Department of Education

The role of instruction in determining student success cannot be overstated. It is because of the hardworking, highly-qualified, state-certified teachers who have routinely gone above and beyond in instruction and student engagement that Edgenuity earned this designation.

Edgenuity, an approved Virtual Instruction Program (VIP) Provider in the state of Florida, announced today that it has earned an “A” grade for its virtual instruction during the 2018-2019 school year in grades 6-12 from the Florida Department of Education’s Bureau of Accountability Reporting.

The Florida Department of Education’s school grading system is designed to convey the achievement level of Florida’s schools. School and district grades describe instructional personnel and administrators’ impact on student learning, including ratings based upon aggregated assessment scores among other factors. Edgenuity’s “A” grade was earned on the basis of both curriculum development and the success of instruction, including student performance on state assessments and engagement with the material.

“Edgenuity is proud to be recognized with a top-level grade by the state’s Department of Education for what we accomplished last year as an approved provider of virtual instruction programs in the state of Florida,” said Kinsey Rawe, Edgenuity’s Vice President and General Manager, Instructional Services. “Beyond providing a curriculum to districts, this “A” grade is a testament to the active role Edgenuity has been able to play in student learning, especially through combining our award-winning curriculum with an engaging instructional model. We appreciate the opportunity to know and work closely with students, as well as with districts to underscore the importance of engagement, testing and implementing virtual programs with fidelity.”

By partnering with Edgenuity as a virtual program option, schools and districts expand educational options for students while also solving many common challenges such as: addressing temporary and long-term teacher shortages; offering comprehensive test preparation; and providing support for students who are homebound or have other unique needs.

“The role of instruction in determining student success cannot be overstated,” added Rawe. “It is because of the hardworking, highly-qualified, state-certified teachers who have routinely gone above and beyond in instruction and student engagement that Edgenuity earned this designation. It has been a great privilege for us to work alongside Florida’s districts, to not only develop a state-of-the-art virtual curriculum for the state’s students, but to see that curriculum brought to life in a way that makes a direct impact on their success and enthusiasm for learning.”

The state of Florida is a nationally-recognized leader in K-12 virtual education. It has the largest state virtual school in the nation and each school district is required to provide virtual education options for their students. Florida’s approved virtual school programs are held accountable for student and school performance. Edgenuity Instructional Services earned the “A” grade for 2018-19 based on the evaluation method established in accordance with Florida’s annual accountability process.
