Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in American men, behind only lung cancer. About 1 in 41 men will die from prostate cancer. The good news is that most men can survive prostate cancer if it’s found and treated early.

Discuss screening with your doctor starting around age 40 if:

You are African American

You have family history of prostate, ovarian, breast, colon, or pancreatic cancers, or Lynch syndrome, BRCA, or HER2 gene mutations are present in your family

In the absence of other risk factors, discuss screening with your doctor starting at around age 45.
