CommunityMed Makes Home in McKinney with New Urgent Care Clinic

Being in McKinney compliments our clinics in Prosper, Melissa and Princeton nicely and allows us to serve the robust, growing community in Collin County.

CommunityMed Urgent Care, a locally owned and operated healthcare provider, opened its eleventh North Texas clinic in McKinney today.

“We’re proud to now have a location in the heart of Collin County,” said Birken Olson, the CEO of CommunityMed. “Being in McKinney compliments our clinics in Prosper, Melissa and Princeton nicely and allows us to serve the robust, growing community in Collin County.”

Responding to the demands of the pandemic, the family-friendly clinic has comprehensive COVID-19 testing options that include Rapid Antigen and PCR Swab tests for people who might currently be contagious and Blood Antibody tests for patients who have been previously infected but aren’t currently contagious.

Anybody – even those without COVID-19 symptoms – can request a test at CommunityMed locations. Patients that receive the Rapid Antigen test will receive written documentation of their results on CommunityMed letterhead soon after their test.

Beyond COVID-19 testing, the McKinney location is providing urgent care services, which include treating injuries and illnesses that are not grave enough to require the emergency room such as flu, diarrhea, strep throat, cuts, sprains and rashes. X-ray capabilities for the clinic are coming in early January. Occupational medical services, such as physicals and drug screenings, will be available at a later date in 2021.

The new medical clinic is located on the northeast corner of Custer and Virginia Parkway in front of The Home Depot. The address is 210 N Custer Rd #100, McKinney, TX 75071, and patients can reach the facility by phone at (469) 899-0679.

CommunityMed McKinney is open seven days a week: Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Sunday from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. For the holidays, there are special hours or closures on four days. The clinic will be open 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 24, closed Dec. 25, open 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 31 and closed Jan. 1, 2021.

CommunityMed accepts most major insurance providers, including Medicare and Tricare. As insurance coverages of COVID tests are beginning to change, it is recommended that patients verify their specific plan benefits with their insurance carrier. Patients are encouraged to secure their place in line on the CommunityMed website before arriving at the clinic. The healthcare provider implemented a virtual waiting room earlier this year, so patients can minimize the time they are at the location. Patients also have the ability to fill out most of the paperwork from the comfort of their home, giving them a modern patient experience.

The McKinney location joins CommunityMed clinics in other DFW cities, including Arlington, Cross Roads, Haslet, Lantana, Melissa, Princeton, Prosper, Southlake and Wichita Falls.
