Wisconsin Historical Society Granted Authority to Construct New History Center

The new 100,000-square-foot, five-story history center will utilize the site of the former Wisconsin Historical Museum as well as two adjacent properties at 20-22 North Carroll Street on Madison’s Capitol Square. The facility is expected to welcome more than 200,000 guests annually and double the number of school students served to 60,000. The center will house three permanent galleries, a rotating community gallery sharing local history from across the state, and a changing gallery large enough to bring in the nation’s most sought-after traveling exhibits. The Society will offer robust public programming throughout the communal spaces, while extending the center’s resources across the state through advanced technology.

“I am also glad to see the approval of funding for the construction of a new facility for the Wisconsin History Center on Capitol Square, which will help ensure this important Wisconsin institution remains a hub of statewide history, education, and outreach for future generations,” said Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers, who serves as Chair of the State Building Commission.

The Society has partnered with an industry-leading architectural and exhibition design team that includes Ralph Appelbaum Associates as well as Continuum Architects + Planners and SmithGroup. Extensive collaborations with community partners, a 12-member scholarly advisory panel, the Institute for Human Centered Design and a formal Native Nations Council are also informing the final experience design.

The design and construction budget for the project will be supported by $112.3 million in State funds and $48.2 million in private gifts.

“The Wisconsin History Center is set to be a beacon for history in the Midwest, a game-changer for our kids and teachers, and a premier tourist destination,” said Rep. Rob Swearingen, Vice Chair of the State Building Commission. “I’m happy to support this long overdue project and excited for what’s to come!”

Fortune Media and Great Place To Work Name Roth Staffing Companies as One of the 2023 Best Workplaces for Women

“What an honor to be recognized at the top of the list of the Best Workplaces for Women in 2023!” said Pam Sexauer, President of Roth Staffing Companies. “I’m extremely grateful to work with dynamic and strong women every day. Their determination and dedication to their work and balancing their personal lives inspire me and everyone around them. I am so proud of all that they do for our company and their communities.”

The Best Workplaces for Women list is highly competitive. Great Place To Work, the global authority on workplace culture, determines its lists using its proprietary For All™ Methodology to evaluate and certify thousands of organizations in America’s largest ongoing annual workforce study, with over 1.3 million survey responses received this year, representing the experiences of more than 7.5 million employees.

Survey responses reflect a comprehensive picture of the workplace experience. Honorees were selected based on their ability to offer positive outcomes for women regardless of job role, race, sexual orientation, work status, or other demographic identifier. Great Place To Work analyzed the gender balance of each workplace compared with Bureau of Labor Statistics industry data. Companies are also assessed on how representation changes as women rise from front-line positions to the board of directors.

“In a challenging market, companies can’t afford to leave workers on the sidelines,” says Michael C. Bush, CEO of Great Place To Work. “When women feel empowered to be full participants in the workplace, productivity and profit grows, insulating the organization from external pressure. We celebrate these companies who are committed to closing the gender gap, developing the next generation of women leaders to solve the complex problems we all face.”

“Fortune congratulates the companies that made the cut for the Best Workplaces for Women,” says Fortune Editor-in-Chief Alyson Shontell. “Based on survey responses of so many women nationwide, these companies clearly demonstrate they have created workplaces where women are consistently valued, supported, and encouraged to do their best work.”

FHU Hosts RUSH 2023, Inspiring High Schoolers to Make Wise Decisions

Askew also acknowledged the vital contributions of others who worked tirelessly behind the scenes for this year’s event. “Paul Spurlin, Jon Podein and Hardison Moles of the Ministry League stepped in this year to assist the office of admissions in making RUSH 2023 a great one! We look forward to their connections and experience in the world of youth ministry continuing to enhance future events.”

The theme for RUSH 2023 was “Decisions.” Branded similarly to the 1960’s three-door “Let’s Make a Deal” game show, the focus was on challenging high school students to consider the impact today’s decisions will have on tomorrow. While making good decisions now will have major future payoffs, students were also encouraged to accept and take comfort in the decisions God has already made and the providence He provides for His children. Speakers for this year’s event included TJ Kirk, Brad Montague, JD Schwartz, Andrew Itson and FHU President David R. Shannon.

Prospective students came from a variety of cities and states to get a taste of college life and see what Freed-Hardeman has to offer. Some said that their visits were encouraged by their local youth ministers, and others complimented the classes and food that they got to sample over the weekend. Many students stated that their RUSH experience has helped to put FHU on their radar for choosing colleges in the near future.

“Events like this are an exciting opportunity for us to visualize the future of FHU,” Shannon said. “These participants may be visiting high school students today, but, hopefully, many will soon be contributing members of campus life here. The positive decisions that they make today can have a lasting effect on their tomorrow.”

While on campus, participants got to experience many of the social activities that go on at FHU and in the town of Henderson. Because the Chester County annual BBQ Festival coincided with RUSH weekend, festival foods and vendors lined Main Street. The same night, a block party was held after the festival featuring Carver Commodore as musical entertainment. On campus, social clubs introduced themselves and entertained students with games and activities, and hypnotist Dale Jenkins performed for an audience in Loyd Auditorium. Students kept a high level of engagement over the course of RUSH, as many of the optional activities during free time were just as full as the main activities.

Freed-Hardeman University’s mission is to help students develop their God-given talents and deepen their faith by providing them an education founded in faith, scholarship and service. With locations in Henderson and Memphis, FHU offers associate, bachelor’s, master’s, specialist and doctoral degrees. More information is available at fhu.edu.

VDart Inc. Attains Significant Sustainability Milestone with EcoVadis Bronze Medal Certification

This evaluation framework evaluates companies in areas such as environmental impact, labor practices, human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. Companies that receive EcoVadis Medals must have demonstrated a solid commitment to sustainability and have implemented effective measures to ensure that their business operations align with global sustainability standards.

Such recognition is essential as it serves as a testament to the company’s unwavering commitment to sustainability and sends a positive message to its stakeholders, including customers, investors, and employees. It also serves as a benchmark for the company to continually improve its sustainability practices and stay ahead of the curve in its respective industry.

VDart has emphasized that its commitment to ESG practices has been led by its vision and purpose to be at the forefront of sustainable practices and innovation while striving to fulfill obligations as a socially responsible entity that operates to benefit both the business, its people, and the planet.

“The EcoVadis Bronze Medal is a remarkable achievement for VDart, and we are both thrilled and honored,” said Sidd Ahmed, the President and CEO of VDart Group of Companies. “This award is a result of our undeterred focus on investing in ESG early on. As an organization, our ESG strategy and practices have been guided by our higher purpose of transforming the trajectory of lives, which serves as our compass. This Bronze Medal is a testament to our long-term vision for our organization to thrive for years to come and the true intent of our ESG policies centered on serving the people and the planet led by our purpose.”

VDart has been associated with Accenture, one of the top professional services organizations in the world, by being one of the first suppliers to be mentored in Accenture’s inaugural Sustainability Mentorship Program in 2020 – the Diverse Supplier Development Program (DSDP). This mentorship has helped VDart develop its sustainability roadmap by adopting and implementing 5 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) and reducing carbon footprints as part of their sustainability commitments. VDart is also a participant member of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative that works to transform the world through principled business.

Oliver Sam, Vice President, People Strategy & Transformation, said, “ESG has been our pivotal strategy in shaping the future of the organization; our goal in the last few years has been to realize the fullest value of ESG within and outside of the organization. In this context, I would like to thank Accenture for their intentional mentoring in helping us set up our ESG roadmap through their Diverse Supplier Development Program (DSDP). We are especially thankful to Nedra Dickson, Managing Director, Global Supplier Diversity and Sustainability, Accenture, Jan Accornero, the Supply Chain Sustainability Associate Manager, Accenture, and Gilbert Campbell, Founder & CEO of Volt Energy, who guided us to craft our ESG strategy. I am extremely grateful to the VDart Leadership & the ESG team, who continue to champion our ESG efforts. The EcoVadis Bronze Medal is a very proud moment for us. We are strongly committed to make ESG our fabric of our purpose and engagement.”

One of VDart’s many sustainability programs and initiatives has been the Global Women Leadership Initiative (GWLI), launched in 2019 to accelerate achieving its gender diversity goal of 35% women in leadership positions by 2025. VDart has also partnered with the Hope Foundation, AG Rhodes Health & Rehab, Hands on Atlanta, and other charity programs that support the health and wellbeing of people.

“We take pride in achieving the EcoVadis Bronze Medal in our initial endeavor. This milestone marks the beginning of our extensive sustainability journey. Our commitment remains steadfast—to be a responsible corporate citizen and actively contribute to a more sustainable world,” said Dhaarini Srinivasan, Global Sustainability Lead of VDart Inc.

By earning an EcoVadis Medal, VDart has distinguished itself as a champion of sustainability, aligned with global best practices and setting a benchmark for responsible business conduct. The EcoVadis Bronze Medal positions VDart in the top 50 percentile of organizations in the world relative to other EcoVadis-assessed companies in the industry across the world.

Powering Nonprofits in Creating Positive Change

“Our company is motivated by the desire to do good things in the world,” said Charles Zhang, founder and CEO of Donorbox. “We’re excited that we’ve reached this landmark, not just because this is a major milestone for Donorbox as a company, but because we recognize what an incredible impact this amount of money has in the hands of those who need it most.”

In addition to its industry-leading technology, Donorbox boasts a world-class support team fully dedicated to going above and beyond for customers and helping them reach their goals. Whether walking a customer through using Donorbox for the first time, assisting with technical difficulties, or supporting with setting up useful integrations or importing data, the Donorbox customer service team is there to help every step of the way. The Donorbox customer experience is one of the company’s most frequently mentioned standout elements.

Zhang continued, “While the amount underlines our momentum as a business, it more importantly demonstrates the trust nonprofits across the globe have in Donorbox, especially during times marred by political, economic, and environmental challenges.”

Donorbox will expand its capacity to help nonprofits in the coming year by introducing a new CRM system. Organizations will be able to utilize Donorbox as a single solution for both fundraising and comprehensive donor management. With Donorbox’s CRM, customers will be able to view important insights and analyze trends to better manage donors and members, helping to amplify fundraising efforts. In 2024, Donorbox aims to integrate LLMs to automate supporter analytics and management tasks, allowing teams to concentrate on mission work. Donorbox is in the initial stages of this development but believes AI can significantly benefit nonprofits by freeing resources and simplifying processes.

Helping nonprofits like Maya’s Hope, Hydrating Humanity, Organic Soup Kitchen, For the Love of Alex, and Nova Ukraine, Donorbox is focused on the stories of hope and transformation it has enabled through its platform.

“When we discovered that Donorbox could meet all our platform needs, from affordability to easy recurring donation options, and integrate with our existing website and payment processor, we were really impressed. But, it was their commitment to ongoing development that made us confident we had found the right platform partners to grow with us,” noted Matt Peterson, founder of Hydrating Humanity, which provides safe water, hygiene education, and hope in developing nations. “Today, over 350,000 school children in East Africa have clean water daily because of the donations made to Hydrating Humanity, and we have many more to serve.”

Donorbox remains unwavering in its commitment to power nonprofits, not only addressing the immediate needs of its partners but also foreseeing, innovating, and tailoring solutions for a future filled with ever-evolving challenges. From crafting tools for faith-based entities to championing cashless in-person giving, Donorbox is ready to pioneer the next chapter in fundraising.

“Donorbox seems to care that we are their clients, and I feel like that has been the experience since day one,” added Maya Rowencak Crauderueff, founder of Maya’s Hope, which works to improve the quality of life for orphaned, impoverished, and special-needs children on a global scale. “Being a client of Donorbox, I feel like I’m part of Donorbox like a family. Anytime we have an issue, the support team is incredible. They’re able to move issues forward, and that’s a huge deal. I can think of one of the platforms we were using where weeks went by trying to get ahold of someone. Having quick and knowledgeable support and a sales team like Donorbox is worth its weight in gold.”
