A Novel” is a gripping crime drama that pits a young nurse against the mafia

News Image

“The Witness Protection Nurse: A Novel”: an exciting crime adventure. “The Witness Protection Nurse: A Novel” is the creation of published author Beverlee Renouf Gillette, an adventurous retiree who draws inspiration from her adventure-filled life with her late husband, Allan.

Gillette shares, “Debra Livingston was an operating room nurse who became a witness in the witness protection program through no fault of her own.

“She walked in on a heated conversation between a surgeon and a scrub nurse after the death of a senator’s daughter who died on the operating table.

“Debra was warned about what she heard by the scrub nurse who was also her roommate and friend.

“Sally was killed an hour later in a hit-and-run accident as she was running for her life. The surgeon had died just moments after the confrontation in the operating room.

“Debra knew she needed to run for her life, or she would end up the same; however, the police got to her first before the mob could kill her.

“The corruption went all the way to the White House and the Castelleri mob of Chicago.

“The story takes Debra on her journey to stay alive with the assistance of Sam Jacobson of the Reno Police Homicide Division and Daniel Williams, part-time agent for the Department of Homeland Security through the witness protection program.

“The rules and regulations she had to follow, the many times she had to drop everything and run again.

“How do you give up everything and everyone you know, everything you worked too hard to attain? That’s the question she had to face before she was accepted in the WPP. What would her life be like? Where would she be placed? Would the nightmare ever end?”

Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Beverlee Renouf Gillette’s new book is an engaging crime thriller that will have the reader on the edge of their seat.

Join Debra on a desperate chase across the country as law enforcement attempts to protect a key witness from a crime family that knows no limits.

Rapture or Resurrection?” is a powerful argument for the importance of preparing for Jesus’ return

News Image

“The Church in End-Time Prophecy: Rapture or Resurrection?”: a potent narrative of the end times. “The Church in End-Time Prophecy: Rapture or Resurrection?” is the creation of published author, Curtis Schulze, a devoted husband and Christian.

Schulze shares, “Today, the rapture of the church is one of the most disputed end-time topics in all the scriptures. No other end-time doctrine has divided the church more than this subject of the rapture. We have made this all about timing, rather than his return. Many are preoccupied with and distracted by their own particular prediction.

The purpose of this book is not to refute one position in favor of another, but to come against the church’s obsession and preoccupation with timing. Our focus should be directed toward his return, and not fixed on timing. This is the testimony of the scriptures!

Whether he comes early, or whether he tarries, this does not matter to me. What matters to me is the readiness of the church! We need to be ready now and always if he comes early, but if delayed: we will need to be ready to go through the dark and difficult days ahead. We need to prepare our hearts now for what is coming lest it catch us off guard! We need to build our faith to stand under pressure, and we need to build our trust and confidence in Him now to keep us while in tribulation. We will need to settle the matter in our hearts concerning all those things coming on the earth, to lay our lives down at all cost! We will need to prepare our children and loved ones for the day ahead if the Lord tarry.

If the Lord did return today, most would not be ready to evacuate! If he were to delay his coming, most are unprepared for the dark and difficult days ahead. I am afraid for the church! I am afraid many will fall away if the rapture does not occur as expected. I am afraid many are taking this too lightly, thinking they are guaranteed a seat on the rapture express but will be left behind because of complacency and indifference toward Christ and the gospel. Either way you look at it, the church is neither ready to leave, nor ready to go through!”

Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Curtis Schulze’s new book is a thought-provoking discussion of the power of God and the church’s teachings regarding the rapture.

Schulze encourages readers to truly reflect and determine if they are prepared for Jesus to return and how they can change to better prepare.

The Potter’s Hands” is an absorbing anthology filled with reminders of God’s sanctity and magnificence

News Image

“Soul Music Volumes 1 And 2: The Potter’s Hands”: an elevating read that imparts warmth in each verse of every poem. It aims to celebrate every creation made by the Creator and hopes to uplift readers from life’s adversities. “Soul Music Volumes 1 And 2: The Potter’s Hands” is the creation of published author MaryAnn Zilko, a passionate writer and poet, a secretary for over twenty years of her life, a faithful wife to her husband and childhood sweetheart, and a mother to five children who bore her twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is a breast cancer survivor who now resides in Pittsburgh.

Zilko shares, “To my readers, I have always loved lighthouses. In fact, I have gathered a small collection over the years. I was also fortunate enough to be able to see seven of them while on vacation with my two sisters at Old Orchard Beach in Maine. They are even more majestic than their photos. They remind me of safety, clear paths, assurance, and help to find the way.

“In my poems, I have followed the same message. Some of the poems tell of finding hope in the darkest news you receive—‘An Unexpected Journey,’ ‘Time to Say Goodbye,’ and ‘His Garden.’ Some of them are humorous—‘Bambi and Kin in My Front Yard,’ ‘Goodbye Romance,’ and ‘Into the Woods.’ Some are patriotic—‘God Bless Our Heroes,’ ‘Tribute—Memorial Day,’ and ‘My Flag.’

“All of them are really poems of praise to the Father of all creation. His splendor and majesty are everywhere you look. His creation is so magnificent you can’t help but to rejoice and thank Him for giving us so much beauty to enjoy.

“My poems are my way of saying thank you to the Lord of all. They were written with much prayer and thought. As you read them, I hope you enjoy them as much as I did in writing them. And as a breast-cancer survivor, I must say that God is good!

Thank you so much, and God bless.”

Published by Christian Faith Publishing, MaryAnn Zilko’s new book is a heartfelt compilation of poems designed to express admiration and gratefulness towards the Almighty. The author’s overflowing love and admiration for God fills the pages of this book.

Judy F. Hicks’s newly released “Life is fragile, but Love is STRONG” is an inspiring spiritual testament to the importance of faith and family

News Image

“Life is fragile, but Love is STRONG: Identifying the People and Circumstances Comprising the Mosaic Window of Our Lives”: a potent tale of a faithful life. “Life is fragile, but Love is STRONG: Identifying the People and Circumstances Comprising the Mosaic Window of Our Lives” is the creation of published author Judy F. Hicks, a native of North Carolina born during WWII who gives credit for a strong spiritual foundation to a beloved grandmother.

Hicks shares, “Are you facing something seemingly insurmountable?

“Have you allowed someone to intimidate you and don’t see a way out?

“Have you focused so much on the hurts and disappointments in your life that you have missed the blessings?

“Then you need to read this true story of a woman who did. Sometimes people and circumstances occur in our lives without warning and attempt to drain the sunshine from our days. Regardless of what life hands us, we have choices.

“This book will make you laugh or cry with the turn of each page. The chapter summaries detail how the people or circumstances contributed to who she became. They were symbolically represented by pieces of colorful mosaic glass connected by gold-tinted lead to form her mosaic window of life. Jesus Christ represents the gold lead because He holds our lives together in all the storms we face. He is also the Sonshine on our windows displaying His glory through us regardless of our circumstances.

“The life lessons in these pages are endless and conducive for Bible studies or book clubs.”

Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Judy F. Hicks’s new book is an enjoyable tale of love, family, and faith.

Weaving story after story mixed with relevant biblical passages and entertaining anecdotes from a life well lived, Hicks welcomes readers to observe the highs and lows of her interesting life.

A Wrongful Conviction Transforms Into an Opportunity to Lead Others to Christ in New Young Adult Novel

News Image

“I have written this book for youth and young adults to show that our God is unchanging and is still the God who cared for Joseph in the book of Genesis.”

The biblical story of Joseph, betrayed and sold into slavery by his brothers, serves as a lasting reminder of God’s faithfulness and goodness. In her new book, “Seven Minutes,” author Linda McClung offers a contemporary retelling of this scripture, one that centers on a young man named Mick Carter who finds himself in difficult circumstances beyond his control.

Mick is an up-and-coming Christian singer with a passion for spreading the message of Christ through music. After performing his last tour stop in Madison, Wisconsin, Mick is unknowingly targeted by a group of powerful criminals as part of an extortion scheme. He is framed for a serious crime and, upon refusing to pay the sum necessary to have the charges dropped, is found guilty and sentenced to prison for 15 years.

Alone in prison hundreds of miles away from his home in South Carolina, Mick is devastated over the loss of his singing career, reputation and ability to serve as a witness for Christ. However, after praying and reading the bible with his cellmate, JuJu, he discovers an opportunity to minister to the other men in prison. While Mick eventually regains his freedom, he realizes that God put him on this path for a reason and finds a new purpose in spreading the gospel and providing much-needed services to inmates.

McClung was inspired to write “Seven Minutes” to show young readers that difficulties and hardships are a part of life but also opportunities for spiritual growth and fulfillment. Mick’s journey demonstrates that, regardless of what readers are going through, they can turn to God and allow Him to use them as part of His plan.

“I have written this book for youth and young adults to show that our God is unchanging and is still the God who cared for Joseph in the book of Genesis,” said McClung. “I hope young people will use it for discussion groups and grow in their faith as they struggle with life’s hardships.”

“Seven Minutes” is also a valuable tool for youth ministry leaders teaching about Joseph, providing an example of how his story might play out in modern times. Whether read independently or together with a youth group, the book illustrates how God works through His children to spread hope and love to those who need it the most.

“[Seven Minutes] catches your attention from the first page and takes you on a journey of deception, fear, forgiveness and redemption,” wrote an Amazon reviewer. “It shares the reality of loving the unlovable in the worst of circumstances and showing God’s love to everyone…Highly recommended!”

Providing Companionship for Older Adults: Become a Pen Pal

News Image

“Loneliness is one of the most devastating issues facing our aging population, but it’s also something we’re capable of addressing,” said Erin Albers, Vice President of Social Purpose at Home Instead.

The pandemic has given the population a deeper understanding of what life is like for older adults who may experience loneliness on a regular basis. For many seniors, limited social interaction they already experienced and loneliness they feel was only amplified by social distancing measures.

While continuing to follow precautions is necessary to keep many vulnerable populations safe, the need for connection has never been greater. In fact, almost half of U.S. seniors (49%) feel they have connected less to their loved ones since the start of the pandemic.

“Loneliness is one of the most devastating issues facing our aging population, but it’s also something we’re capable of addressing,” said Erin Albers, Vice President of Social Purpose at Home Instead. “After a year of isolating at home, we need a little creativity and a lot of intention to ensure regular contact with neighbors and loved ones, even as some social distancing measures are relaxed. A simple act of kindness, such as writing a letter, can really brighten the day of an older adult.”

All of us can play a role in helping the aging population feel connected and supported. To help reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation among seniors, Home Instead is encouraging people to make a difference in their community by writing a letter to an older adult on National Pen Pal Day (June 1).

Generations of writers have created lasting friendships by becoming a pen pal. To celebrate National Pen Pal Day, Albers suggests writing a letter to a senior through Ready to Care’s Pen Pal initiative:

  • How can I get involved? Writers can submit a letter and/or photo online at readytocare.com. From there, Home Instead will screen each letter for safety and security and pass it along to a senior. Participants must be age 13 or above, unless the submission is coordinated by a parent or teacher.
  • What should I write about? The sky’s the limit! Have fun with it – include details such as the hobbies you enjoy, your favorite books and movies, a positive moment of your day or upcoming plans you’re looking forward to. Keep in mind you should not share personal or financial information, such as dates you will be out of town or passwords. For more ideas, check out our blog.
  • How can I keep the conversation going? Request to receive a letter in return by sharing your email or mailing address online. Keep the conversation flowing by asking a senior to share a fact or story with you.
  • How can I get others involved? Whether you’re a school teacher or summer camp counselor looking for new ways to engage your kids, or a church leader who wants to provide more outreach to your congregation, you can brighten the lives of lonely seniors in your community, as well as to better yourself and those you lead. Download one of our free pen pal toolkits to get started.
  • Why should I participate? Pen pals help a segment of the population that often gets overlooked – older adults. It’s also an opportunity to connect with seniors in our communities and spread some much needed joy.

Connecting in these unique, personal ways isn’t a thing of the past – it can speak volumes. For lonely seniors, it may be among the few interactions they’ve had in a long time. Join a network of over 10,000 Pen Pals by visiting http://www.ReadyToCare.com.

Groundbreaking of New Home in Garland TX by Grand Homes for Hope International

Grand Homes has always supported, and will continue to support, many local charities to benefit the communities in which we build.

Grand Homes invites members of the community to attend a groundbreaking celebration of their ninth Home for HOPE. The groundbreaking ceremony will take place on Thursday, May 27 from 12:00 until 1:30 at 342 Gleneagles Dr, Garland, TX in their Country Club Estates neighborhood.

The charity home will be built as part of our master-planned neighborhood on Country Club Road just north of Hwy 66. Grand Homes’ trade partners – subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants – will donate or discount their labor, materials and services to help secure a large donation upon the sale of the home. The donation from the sale of the 4 bedroom, 2,580 square foot home, priced at $571,900, will benefit HOPE International, a microfinance network dedicated to alleviating world poverty by providing financial services for impoverished families. The house can be purchased at any phase of construction – even pre-sold to allow the customer to make the house uniquely their own. Country Club Estates is in a convenient location with shopping and dining close by, walking distance to Tuckerville Park and in the Garland ISD with freedom of choice schools.

HOPE’s primary service is to provide loans to poor families in 16 of the world’s most desperate countries. Starting at only $50, these loans enable entrepreneurs to start or expand their small businesses, creating a steady income that will lift their families out of poverty. By providing loans, HOPE gives a “hand up” not a “hand out” to families that will create sustainable business income for future entrepreneurs. Across the country, Homes for HOPE has reached out to over 100 builders and Grand Homes has answered the call a sixth time to participate in the initiative that allows builders to have a worldwide impact simply by doing what they do best: build homes.

Grand Homes will be contributing all proceeds from the sale including donations from their trade partners in the final sum given to Homes for HOPE. Stephen Brooks, CEO and owner of Grand Homes, believes in the idea of giving back. “Grand Homes has always supported, and will continue to support, many local charities to benefit the communities in which we build; Homes for HOPE allows us to have an impact beyond our own community to help eliminate poverty in areas of need throughout the world,” says Mr. Brooks.

For more information on the groundbreaking or Homes for HOPE, please contact Mary Jo Fogle with Grand Homes at (972) 387-6091 or mjfogle@grandhomes.com.

Author Duke Hammond’s newly released “Food For Hezron” is an inspiring retelling of the tale of Jacob’s son, Joseph

News Image

“Food For Hezron”: a potent exploration of the classic Bible story. “Food For Hezron” is the creation of published author, Duke Hammond, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and Marine veteran.

Duke writes, “’Food for Hezron’ may seem more like a retelling of the story of Jacob’s son Joseph while he was in Egypt. But God doesn’t work the way we expect. What God did for Hezron wasn’t for Hezron…it was for you. God cares about you more than you can imagine. And He has for a long long time. God knows your troubles. Some of you are struggling terribly. God knows. You are fully in His loving arms!

“‘…but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.’ 2 Corinthians 4:16b – 18.”

Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Hammond’s new book offers a new perspective on the lessons within the tale of Joseph.

With a wealth of biblical knowledge, Hammond guides readers with a gentle hand in hopes of encouraging a deeper relationship with God.
