Awakening” is an encouraging and interactive devotional experience

News Image

“Joy of the Journey: Awakening”: an engaging and empowering opportunity for spiritual reflection and growth. “Joy of the Journey: Awakening” is the creation of published authors Bernadict Quarles and Carol L.S. McKnight.

Bernadict Quarles is the proud mother of nine with her husband, Bryant L. Quarles, Sr. She has devoted her entire life to service and advocacy, as well as nearly twenty-five years to educating and mentoring youth. Quarles founded Beta Qoph Global Society and obtained her Bachelor of Arts and master’s studies in English literature. She is also the published author of “The Chronicles of Maya and Quincy.” She is a recipient of the Aspire Award 2013 and Empress Menen Award 2018.

Carol L.S. McKnight is wife to Alfred McKnight. She is an aunt, a sister, a friend, a retired US army veteran, and an entrepreneur. McKnight holds several degrees, including a degree in human behavior. She especially loves mentoring young Black girls and helping them to build their self-esteem

Quarles and McKnight share, “Negro spirituals inspired this body of work. Negro spirituals served as a masked storyteller. These spirituals tell the stories of pain, hope, lost, and faith. This book is a part of a four-part series, Joy of the Journey. This volume is Winter: The Season of Awakening, featuring devotions that remind us to let go of the things that bring us pain. This includes relationships, habits, and choices that have hindered us from experiencing the full blessing of the Most High.

“This is an interactive devotional, encouraging the reader to explore their true self.

“Growing up, attending church with my grandmother, I remember the elders at the front of the church singing these old tunes. I can remember the orator calling to the audience and the congregational response. I remember feeling the spirit riding on the notes through the congregation as the orator moaned the words, ‘I love the Lord. He heard my cries.’ It felt like we were transformed into the throne room, crying at the feet of Christ. We were all connected on one accord. I can recall being filled with sorrow and joy.

“This volume explores tapping into areas in our lives that we need to cleanse and reset. Life is a journey and finding joy in the most challenging seasons require us to search deeply into our own hearts.”

Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Bernadict Quarles and Carol L.S. McKnight’s new book is an encouraging opportunity for readers to heal and overcome past traumas.

Quarles and McKnight bring readers an inspiring resource for personal and spiritual growth through a motivating prayer experience.

Freida Denise Cardwell’s newly released “Lion’s Mentality” is an empowering discussion of taking control of one’s inner most thoughts and living in God’s plan

News Image

“Lion’s Mentality”: a potent reminder of the need for connection with the grace of God. “Lion’s Mentality” is the creation of published author Freida Denise Cardwell, a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who actively seeks opportunities to share the good news of Jesus at every turn.

Cardwell shares, “have you ever dreamed of doing great things for the Lord? Did you have great dreams when you were younger, but somehow the ordinary demands of life got in the way and you just find yourself barely getting through the day? You have always believed that God has a great purpose for you, but what is it? You have been taught everyone has spiritual gifts, but for the life of you, you don’t think you have any. Spoiler alert. If you are God’s child, he has given you at least one spiritual gift possibly more. Do you hear these voices in your head that you aren’t good enough, smart enough, just not enough? These voices are coming from the devil. This book will help you get inside your head and help guide you to the mind of God. It will show you how to take every thought captive and live the abundant life Christ died for!

“You are an overcomer! The living God of the universe created you to do even greater things than these.

“Stop listening to negative thoughts and start living and fulfilling God’s perfect purposes for you. You are a child of the living God of the universe!

“Why is the lion the king of the jungle? It’s his mentality! God has given you the power to live out this mentality! The lion has no fear and neither should you as a child of God! There is no predator that God will not give you the power for success! Embrace this mentality: it is one of courage, strength, perseverance, determination and to know and believe that God can do anything through you! The Power is in our mentality…it’s limitless! Do you believe in what God is saying to you? ‘I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.’”

Cardwell shares in hopes of offering a helping hand to those in need of encouragement on their journey to fulfillment in Christ.

Beth Marie Hawley’s newly released “In the Shadows” is a creative devotional that encourages acceptance and appreciation of others

News Image

“In the Shadows”: an uplifting message of God’s unending love. “In the Shadows” is the creation of published author Beth Marie Hawley, a retired critical care registered nurse who overcame lupus.

Hawley shares, “This study was written to bring insight into God’s love and redemption brought into this world by Christ Jesus. It tells stories of faith, suffering, healing, and lessons to be learned. Many of the people we will read about were people mankind put ‘in the shadows’ due to disease, social status, profession, or uncontrollable circumstances. It is not unlike today’s society. I want us to look at all people as Jesus did, regardless of their condition or who they are in society.

“No person is too lowly to be loved by our Lord. We are all created the same and should think of ourselves as loved in the eyes of God. Hopefully, this study will provide introspection to each of us. Are we the problem or solution in bringing all people into the light of Christ? The miracles discussed are only a few of those recorded. The people we will study were either healed or redeemed. By that circumstance, they were no longer ‘in the shadows.’ Some were no longer in the shadows of society.

“Many were put in the redeeming light of the Lord. From this study, we will learn scripture and the insight it brings. We don’t need headlines to bring to our attention those struggling in this world. We do, however, need to open our eyes to those struggling around us. No matter the circumstances, we are all neighbors in this world we inhabit together. This study will teach us what happens when the love of Christ enters our lives. The hope, love, and faithfulness of our God are always within our reach.”

Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Beth Marie Hawley’s new book will encourage and challenge readers in their treatment of others who may be less fortunate in one way or another.

Hawley shares in hopes of spreading an important lesson that was shared with her at a young age by her beloved parents and the word of God.

Consumers can purchase “In the Shadows” at traditional brick & mortar bookstores, or online at Amazon.com, Apple iTunes store, or Barnes and Noble.

Joy Coats’s newly released “Our Final Hope” is an engaging fiction that brings the story of Mary and Joseph to life in a fresh, tangible way

News Image

“Our Final Hope”: a thoughtful historical romance. “Our Final Hope” is the creation of published author Joy Coats, a dedicated wife and mother who has been a schoolteacher for eighteen years, fifteen of which were in a Christian school in the Wilmington area. After receiving a master’s in special ed, she was the school’s resource director and teacher for children with learning differences for five of those years. She currently spends her time tutoring students one-on-one with special needs.

Coats shares, “A moment in time when all of creation stood still and welcomed the birth of its Creator, stepping out of heaven and into the hearts and lives of the very created…

“Mary, a young girl, and Joseph, a carpenter, could not have imagined the journey on which they would travel after saying yes to the God of their fathers when He asked them to believe by faith all that He would reveal to them. A journey that would call them to an unyielding and firm determination to be part of the answer to a world’s desperate need, the Messiah—Immanuel, God with us. How could the God of creation reach down into their simple lives and bless them with the final hope of a dying and lost world? Can they believe Him for it?

“In a time when unmarried girls could be stoned for being pregnant before marriage, Mary must forge ahead with complete trust in her heavenly Father for protection and wisdom. Joseph must make a choice to believe all that his betrothed has just told him. Is it possible—the Messiah…in his home? Shepherds and wise men begin the ultimate pilgrimage that will forever change their lives and stories. A jealous king will seek to squash out his existence—He who will be our final and only hope.”

Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Joy Coats’s new book will captivate the imagination as readers journey with key biblical figures to experience the birth of Christ.

Coats paints a vivid picture within the pages of this heartfelt celebration of those who were tasked with delivering the Christ child.

Harry Swanson’s newly released “Thomas Jefferson’s ‘Wee Little Book’ Purified by Fire” is a unique study of scripture that examines 81 lessons as selected by Jefferson

News Image

“Thomas Jefferson’s ‘Wee Little Book’ Purified by Fire”: a thought-provoking study of key scripture. “Thomas Jefferson’s ‘Wee Little Book’ Purified by Fire” is the creation of published author Harry Swanson, a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather who had worked in finance and administration for forty-five years and is now retired. He holds a baccalaureate degree in accounting and a master’s degree in business and finance. Swanson worked under such titles as controller, director of finance and administration, CFO, and financial management consultant for both large and small, profit and nonprofit companies located throughout Long Island and New York City.

Swanson shares, “Thomas Jefferson lived a very successful, accomplished life and was one of the most intelligent of the Founding Fathers. He is probably most remembered as the principal author of the Declaration of Independence. Jefferson served as the governor of Virginia, congressman, the first secretary of state under George Washington, vice president under John Adams, and president of the United States from 1801 to 1809. He was also a diplomat, lawyer, architect and could speak several languages.

“As president, he signed the congressional Act Prohibiting Importation of Slaves and was a big advocate for religious freedom. Thomas Jefferson thought highly of the Bible and made frequent use of its references and passages. He was a Bible enthusiast and often gave Bibles as gifts to family members.

“Jefferson’s greatest gift may not have been his work on the Declaration of Independence but one that he called his ‘wee little book.’

“He took on a project to collect the best and most concise moral teachings known. After a lengthy search, he found them in Jesus’s teaching as recorded in the Gospels, which Jefferson believed were the most sublime and benevolent code of morals ever offered to man.

“Finally, after several years of planning, in 1820 and at age seventy-seven, he finished construction of his book by cutting excerpts from the Gospels of the New Testament and arranging them in chronological and topical order covering the story of Jesus’s life, parables, and moral teaching. The work did include miracles and the supernatural such as heaven, hell, angels, devil, eternal life, and more. Jefferson’s purpose was to clarify Jesus’s major teachings into one short collection for his own nightly study.

“If there’s anything the world needs today, it’s the fulfillment of the Great Commission—to go and tell all the world about the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ, including his life, teachings, sufferings, crucifixion, and resurrection.

“Jefferson’s work was a priceless nightly study then and a priceless nightly study now.”

Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Harry Swanson’s new book brings a fresh opportunity for considering the teachings of Christ.

Swanson’s study of Jefferson’s biblical ruminations makes for an engaging and spiritually encouraging reading experience.

Consumers can purchase “Thomas Jefferson’s ‘Wee Little Book’ Purified by Fire” at traditional brick & mortar bookstores, or online at Amazon.com, Apple iTunes store, or Barnes and Noble.

Tia Austin’s newly released “Walk a Mile with Me” brings readers into the lives of two very different brothers to witness the challenges and victories of life

News Image

“Walk a Mile with Me”: an engaging exploration of faith, choice, and family connection. “Walk a Mile with Me” is the creation of published author Tia Austin.

Austin shares, “When Jesse is born, his older brother Cal is six years old. From the very beginning, Cal knows that he will be a good brother to Jesse, that he will look out for him.

“Cal also hopes that maybe having Jesse around will keep his parents from arguing—loudly—so often. But things don’t change for the better, and Cal’s feelings of needing to be there for Jesse to look after him grow stronger. This is especially true when they are left alone in the apartment, their mother expecting Cal, age 9, to look after Jesse, who is only three years old.

“But Cal is determined to be the good brother he was told he would be when Jesse was born. Cal tries to do his best all through Jesse’s growing up years. When Cal becomes a Christian as a teenager, he tries his best to share his faith with Jesse, but he wants nothing to do with it.

“The boys’ lives begin to go in separate directions as they deal with their feelings of emotional pain and abuse. Cal chooses a healthy life while Jesse follows a path that leads him farther and farther downhill—and farther emotionally from Cal, who he had looked up to his entire life.

“Where will the separate paths lead Cal and Jesse? Walk with them as they travel the roads they have chosen to walk.”

Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Tia Austin’s new book is an enjoyable fiction with all-too-real circumstances and a cast of affable, hopeful characters.

Austin shares a heartfelt look into the brotherly bond and the redemptive power of God.
