Boston Eye Group Recommends Good Hygiene with Your Contact Lenses Could Limit Your Risk of Coronavirus

News Image

“Contact lens wear typically requires diligent hygiene to avoid serious eye infections but additional attention and measures should be taken in the current setting,” said Dr. Samir Melki, Chief Medical officer of the Boston Eye Group.

According to the American Academy of Ophthalmology, reports suggest that the new outbreak of coronavirus can cause conjunctivitis and possibly be transmitted by aerosol or direct contact with the conjunctiva, the superficial skin layer covering the eye.

Contact lens wearers should take special precautions to avoid contracting the coronavirus. Touching the eyes while inserting contact lenses may provide a conduit for the virus to enter the body.

“Contact lens wear typically requires diligent hygiene to avoid serious eye infections but additional attention and measures should be taken in the current setting,” said Dr. Samir Melki, Chief Medical officer of the Boston Eye Group. “It is extremely important to limit your chances of infection by being extra careful with your contact lens protocol.”

To cut down on risk of transmission, individuals should avoid touching their eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands. Now that we know the Coronavirus may be transferred through the conjunctiva. It is very important for the population to be concerned with eye health, in particular, as it relates to contact lenses.

Dr. Li Wenliang, a Chinese ophthalmologist working in Wuhan, where the epidemic originated, was among the first to warn authorities about the outbreak last December. Subsequently, the eye doctor was infected by the coronavirus himself while treating a glaucoma patient and later died of the virus on Feb 7th.

“Cleaning and using contact lenses correctly is paramount to ensure that eyes are kept healthy and remain free from infections,” said Dr Melki. “Thorough hand washing prior to handling lenses and inserting them into one’s eyes is very important to reduce the risk of infection.”

If you have symptoms of conjunctivitis and have recently traveled to an at risk region for the coronavirus, Dr. Melki recommended discontinuing contact lens use and discussing your symptoms with a provider before coming to the office or hospital.

Alexandra Franzen Releases “The Checklist Book” to Share the Life Changing Power of Writing Down Daily Intentions

Checklists tend to create a feeling of immediate relief and empowerment. That ‘I got this, it’s doable, I can handle this’ feeling. Checklists can change your life.

Alexandra Franzen has announced the release of her newest book, The Checklist Book: Set Realistic Goals, Celebrate Tiny Wins, Reduce Stress and Overwhelm, and Feel Calmer Every Day.

With so many distractions and stressors in today’s world, it’s difficult to get organized and stay focused on the priorities that really matter. Enter, The Checklist Book.

The Checklist Book focuses on setting realistic goals and celebrating tiny wins throughout your day (“drink a glass of water,” “walk for ten minutes in the fresh air,” “call mom to tell her a hilarious story”). Ultimately, the book helps readers to feel more focused and energized, clear mental clutter, and feel calmer every day.

“I wrote The Checklist Book because we live in a noisy, busy world that’s obsessed with doing more, more, more,” said author, Alexandra Franzen. “So many people try to cram 1,000 tasks into a 24 hour period–which just isn’t realistic or healthy. In our quest to be more productive, we actually end up with the opposite result: feeling drained and stuck. Plus, many people feel perpetually overwhelmed, like they’re drowning in commitments, no room to think or even breathe.

How can we feel better? A good place to begin is taking a deep breath–and then making a simple one-page checklist. Writing by hand. Ink to paper. Back to basics.

There are so many different kinds of checklists you can make–a daily checklist, annual checklist, and checklists for navigating painful situations like a break-up or divorce. It’s all about decluttering your mind, taking your intentions, and putting things in writing. Checklists tend to create a feeling of immediate relief and empowerment. That ‘I got this, it’s doable, I can handle this’ feeling. Checklists can change your life.”

Through The Checklist Book, readers learn valuable skills, including:

  • The history of the checklist and why it remains so relevant and effective today.
  • The science of checklists and why it feels so incredibly satisfying to make a list and check things off.
  • How checklists can help you create a more balanced life–with time for things you need to accomplish (emails, errands, bills) and time for things you want to experience (yoga, stargazing, hiking in nature, quality time with people you love).
  • How to create a daily checklist, seasonal checklist, annual checklist, self-care checklist, workout checklist, marketing checklist, birthday checklist, and checklists for challenging situations like coping with grief and heartbreak, moving to a new city, and navigating other types of big life transitions.

The Checklist Book is now available for sale at Amazon, Target, Barnes & Noble, and IndieBound. The Kindle version of the book is available for $11.99 and the paperback version is available for $18.95.

D. Geovanny Godoy’s newly released “Finding Meaning through the Valley” is a stirring book that will take the readers on an impelling discovery about life

News Image

“Finding Meaning through the Valley”: an enthralling account that will make the readers understand that the unforeseen journeys of pain and suffering are not extraordinary. “Finding Meaning through the Valley” is the creation of published author D. Geovanny Godoy, a man who never lost his hope and the belief that God had something better for him.

Godoy writes, “Everyone wonders as to the meaning of pain and suffering. When we walk through these valley experiences, sentiments of loneliness and hopelessness undress our hearts of meaning and reason, as well as with time, pain and suffering do not discriminate against race, gender, or creed. Yet there exists the possibility wherein happiness, meaning, and hope can converge in the most desolate of places.”

“If you yearn for meaning and cannot see through your pain, allow the author to share a compelling and riveting journey in discovering the essence of what you are really made of. The author writes from a unique perspective, as he continues to walk through his own valley experience. He has lived the majority of his life in this valley without something that most of us take for granted—freedom.”

Published by Christian Faith Publishing, D. Geovanny Godoy’s new book is an engrossing masterpiece that makes the readers understand the meaning of life, its pain, suffering, and joy.

This book will serve as a fundamental guide for the readers, enabling them to live a fearless and meaningful existence.

Inner Traditions Book Publisher Announces New Divination Deck and Guidebook Rooted in the American Hoodoo Tradition

The Hoodoo Tarot: 78-Card Deck and Book for Rootworkers

“The in-depth research, interviews, and life experience of both practitioners shine like a beacon through this divination tool, helping us ground our practices in historical precedent and tried-and-true wisdom.” — Chiron Armand, founder of Impact Shamanism and a trained hoodoo root doctor

Between the 17th and 19th centuries, many Indigenous Americans and people of African descent intermarried and socialized more often than is acknowledged by mainstream history books and scholars. These interactions produced not only a multicultural people but also a body of knowledge that is known today as Hoodoo or Rootwork.

“The Hoodoo Tarot” integrates esoteric and botanical knowledge from Hoodoo with the divination system of the Tarot. Structured like a traditional Tarot deck, each of the 78 cards features full-color paintings by magical-realist artist Katelan Foisy and elegantly interprets the classical Tarot imagery through depictions of legendary rootworkers past and present as well as important Hoodoo symbolism.

In the accompanying guidebook, Tayannah Lee McQuillar provides a history of Hoodoo and its complex heritage, including its roots in multiple African and Indigenous American ethnic groups as well as its European influences. She explores the traditional forms of divination used by rootworkers, including cartomancy, explaining how pairing the Tarot with Hoodoo is a natural fit. For each card in the Major Arcana and the four suits of the Minor Arcana (sticks, baskets, needles, and knives), McQuillar provides an in-depth card meaning that draws on both Tarot and Hoodoo tradition. She shares the history of the rootworker or symbol featured, any associated magical plants, a related scriptural quote, and guidance and advice based on the card’s meaning. She also offers instructions on card spreads and shares sample card readings.

Offering a divination system rooted in the Indigenous and African experience in North America, “The Hoodoo Tarot” provides a hands-on way to honor and explore the magic of Hoodoo for personal growth and spiritual inspiration.

The War Against Artificial Intelligence And Mass Unemployment – Do ‘Nootropic’ Brain Supplements Hold The Answer?

Artificial intelligence and nootropics.

Sophia is coming for you… Well, your job at least!

“Artificial intelligence will soon leave people displaced and needing to find a new way to put food on the table and it will likely be you.” – Archie Marks, creator of Nootropic supplement Nitrovit grimly states.

It’s difficult to name any of the large tech companies that aren’t investing time and energy into creating artificial intelligence technology. It’s already a big part of our lives, and with the market value set to increase from $9.5 billion to $118.6 billion by 2025 , it’s about to take over our lives.

Uber’s self-driving car ran 6 red lights near-missing multiple people on the crossings. A Tesla Model 3 driver was killed in an accident while using auto pilot mode. Sophia, a life-like android developed by Hanson Robotics, declared plans to destroy humanity whilst speaking on stage at the SXSW technology conference. The list of AI horror stories continues to grow every day.

But where does this leave us? Yes, we now enjoy our cars driving themselves. Yes, Alexa is on hand to order movie tickets. And Yes, our fridges can order the grocery’s. But what are the consequences of allowing artificial intelligence to take over more and more of our lives? And how can we keep up with the change?

“There certainly will be job disruption. Because what’s going to happen is robots will be able to do everything better than us… I mean all of us.”

– Elon Musk

Two Oxford academics, Carl Benedikt Frey and Michael Osborne, agree with Elon Musk and in their paper estimated that 47% of American jobs are at risk of being lost to automation from artificial intelligence . The world economic forum has a slightly more optimistic view and predicts that artificial intelligence will displace 75 million jobs while generating 133 million new ones by 2022 . Finally, the Mckinsey Global Institute predicts that between 40-160 million women will need to transition to higher-skilled roles by 2030 .

The exact figures are uncertain. However, one thing everyone agrees on when predicting the impact of artificial intelligence on the job market is that a large number of people are going to be out of a job. Once AI automation takes over industries, the people left behind will be required to learn a new profession and new skills, FAST. Furthermore, AI does not discriminate. Chinese venture capitalist and AI expert Kai-Fu Lee predicts:

“AI will increasingly replace repetitive jobs. Not just for blue-collar work but a lot of white-collar work.”

– Kai-Fu Lee

With millions of people predicted to be replaced by artificial intelligence by as early as 2022, US citizens are taking daily brain vitamins or ‘Nootropics’. Nootropics are supplements proven to enhance, improve, and optimize the brains ability to focus, learn, recall stored information, and remain motivated and productive… exactly what’s needed for the big change ahead. Archie Marks, the founder of leading Nootropic supplement Nitrovit comments:

“We can already see how artificial intelligence is automating so many processes, turning jobs into software. I really don’t think we are ready for the mass unemployment that awaits so many of us. The new required skills will be those AI lacks – Ingenuity, morality, confidence and rapport building skills, big picture thinking and creativity among others – And I believe Nootropics can help with that.”

– Archie Marks

When looking for supplements that are going to be effective at improving the brains ability to learn new skills, it is important to look out for specific Nootropics that aid accelerated learning. Noopept, Alpha GPC and Phosphatidylserine are all respected for their ability to accelerate learning while producing other benefits that have a compounding effect, improving a variety of cognitive abilities.

Noopept – Noopept is able to target focus, motivation and productivity, three key ingredients needed for skill acquisition and continuous success.

From surgeons to stage performers and from CEO’s to those with a hectic schedule, Noopept can help with the extra motivation and productivity required to cope with these stresses.

Alpha GPC – is a type of Choline that is widely considered as the godfather of Nootropics. This natural nootropic works by increasing the production of acetylcholine in the brain, which has a direct link to attention, memory, arousal and motivation.

Alpha GPC and other Choline based Nootropics have been used nationwide by students to cheat their exams by drastically improving their memory recall and ability to focus. Musicians and martial artists using Nootropics have been able to shave years off the required time to master their fields, by utilising the additional motivation and ability to recall learnt patterns faster than the average joe.

Phosphatidylserine – is a fatty-like substance that protects and covers every cell in the body. It has been shown to improve language skills, attention and memory formation, and is popular as a daily supplement among older people who want to stay sharp and switched on in the fast-paced world of today.

As AI learns and grows at an unprecedented rate, the skills we will need to compete may seem complex. Thankfully, acquiring a new skill or learning to code become manageable with Nootropics. Website building and software development, video and photography, and even creative writing, opens the doors to making money online, freeing individuals from the gloom of unemployment.

While governments and corporations battle over the regulation of artificial intelligence markets, the world gets closer to an unprecedented leap in AI technology. It will accelerate expert forecasts of the impact of AI and the increased automation will lead to a mass loss of jobs. Therefore, all of those affected will need to learn new skills quickly.

It is the responsibility of global leaders to protect society from such a catastrophic event. However, with nobody really knowing if the next technological leap is still years away, or in fact taking place tomorrow, Nootropics users are taking things into their own hands.

There’s no denying we’re facing big changes. However, Nootropic supplements like Nitrovit could help us stay relevant and valued in a rapidly evolving, and increasingly selective job market.

With constant disruption from AI let’s hope nootropics can keep us mere humans in the game.

If you would like to find out more about other Nootropic ingredients and how they can help you, head over to Neuro Laboratories website for an in-depth look into how they work.

One Million Solutions in Health and Superstar Pop Group Girl Pow-R Team Up for Charity Work to Build Resilience

One Million Solutions in Health

One Million Solutions in Health

“The #iMatter program seeks to provide young people with skills to build their confidence, strength and resilience.”

The superstar girl band Girl Pow-R has joined forces with One Million Solutions in Health to build resilience with the #iMatter Program. The #iMatter Program seeks to provide young people with skills to build their confidence, strength and resilience. It is a charity-driven educational workshop that will be delivered across North America.

Sponsors, educators and interested organizations and individuals can bring Girl Pow-R into their organization to deliver a workshop to young people that will expose them to a number of skills that are essential to all of us. It is essential that we each show the world that we matter and we have the tools to stand up to bad behavior from others. One of the unspoken goals of the #iMatter Program is to remove the word ‘bullying’ from our language and to replace it with a more positive and inspiring statement: #iMatter.

The #iMatter Movement emanates from the principles incorporated in the Girl Pow-R training. The Girl Pow-R program aims to provide musical training to girls in various North American cities, including singing lessons, dance classes, and performance training. While having fun and making new friends, the girls are taught to be confident in their own voices. They perform on stage, overcoming performance fright as a group, and are given the opportunity to make themselves heard, whether it’s introducing songs to audiences, or speaking at events about social causes dear to them.

Through One Million Solutions in Health, a charitable 501(c)(3) organization, the #iMatter Program builds on these principles and aims to give young people an opportunity to expand their comfort zone while remaining in a safe environment.

Girl Pow-R was formed on International Women’s Day 2017 in conjunction with the #BeBoldForChange initiative, and the group of singers, songwriters, multi-instrumentalists, and dancers have grown more popular with each passing year.

Since starting, Girl Pow-R have won a Family Channel singing competition, as well as nominations for Niagara Music Awards’ ‘Best New Group’ and a Toronto Independent Music Award. And, they performed more than 200 shows in just over two and a half years. They are signed to Canyon Entertainment Group, an artist management company and independent record label.

Girl Pow-R is also excited to be among the first-ever group of young people, or children, to be nominated for a Juno award in the Children’s Category for Album of the Year. It is a history-making moment! This follows a lot of terrific “music and television” experiences that the group has had like performing on YTV The Zone three times, and performing on TVO Kids. Girl Pow-R was on eTalk Canada, and were hand-picked to re-create the Mysticons theme song, and create the choreography and star in two music videos for the Mysticons.
