New book encourages readers to think differently about sinners

News Image

Seeking to help the human race answers their personal questions, Claudia Renée’s self-improvement book “What? Do You Expect From A Sinner” (published by Archway Publishing) explores the subject of sin, its characteristics and its repercussions.

Through scripture and real-life examples, she tells how sin means the breaking of a religious law, to do wrong especially when it has been planned, plotted, and purposed. According to the author, sin is a wrongdoing and an unjust act, a purposeful pain given or done to someone or something, to commit a crime, a wrong or fault.

She hopes that through this guide, readers will find the answers to their personal questions and begin to understand it all from a Christian perspective.

“I pray that every reader would be healed, delivered and set free from the sting of sin, by renewing of the mind and being transformed, by asking themselves this question: What? Do you expect from a sinner. And take hold to forgiveness,” the author says.

“What? Do You Expect From A Sinner” is available for purchase online at the Archway link above, from Barnes & Noble and on Amazon at: https://www.amazon.com/What-Do-You-Expect-Sinner/dp/1665708654.

My Struggle With Bipolar Disorder” is a moving exploration of the author’s experiences with mental illness

News Image

“Ten Years Lost: My Struggle With Bipolar Disorder”: an informative firsthand account of mental illness. “Ten Years Lost: My Struggle With Bipolar Disorder” is the creation of published author Melanie Sutton, a graduate of Kennesaw State University and Wake Forest University School of Law. She currently lives in Augusta, Georgia, with her husband and dog.

Sutton shares, “It is estimated that 2.6 million Americans have bipolar disorder. All of them have partners and caregivers that may be interested in the subject matter of this book. It is essentially a chronology of my life before during and after my diagnosis.

“There were ten years that were very dark. I struggled to obtain a diagnosis and zero in on the correct treatment for my disorder. There are many medicines that are used to treat bipolar disorder, and it took some time to find the one that works best for me.

“I would describe my life now as heaven on earth. I have a wonderful husband, a nice home, and a dog. I never imagined that I would achieve this level of happiness. It is my hope that the reader finds inspiration and faith in my story.”

Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Melanie Sutton’s new book will tug at the heartstrings as readers witness the tribulations of bipolar disorder.

Sutton offers a clear and informative discussion that helps bring awareness to a debilitating disease that many suffer with.

Consumers can purchase “Ten Years Lost: My Struggle With Bipolar Disorder” at traditional brick & mortar bookstores, or online at Amazon.com, Apple iTunes store, or Barnes and Noble.

Oro House Recovery Center Announces New TMS Treatment Offering

“We’re the first rehab facility in Southern California to offer this particular TMS therapy in-house, harnessing state-of-the-art ‘theta-burst’ technology – developed by a Danish company named MagVenture – that’s ten times faster than what most facilities are able to offer.”

Oro House Recovery Centers, Southern California’s acclaimed dual-diagnosis inpatient and outpatient treatment facilities, is debuting the use of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) Therapy for treating resistant depression and other mental health issues, including addiction. With this launch, available to clients at their Malibu and Los Angeles locations, as well as to the general public, Oro House is now the first treatment center in Southern California to offer TMS Therapy in-house.

Oro House’s dual-diagnosis treatment method means that patients are simultaneously treated for drug/alcohol addiction and co-occurring mental health issues. TMS, which has been approved by the FDA for its effective treatment of Major Depressive Disorder when other therapy methods haven’t worked, has also shown positive outcomes in the treatment of other conditions, including Drug & Alcohol Addiction, Anxiety, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Schizophrenia, and Migraine Headaches. The addition of TMS to Oro House’s list of available treatments serves the facility’s goal of treating underlying mental health issues in order to holistically and more effectively approach addiction recovery.

“At Oro House, we’re always looking for new treatments to address our patients’ needs,” said Oro House Co-Founder Evan Haines. “We’re incredibly proud to be the first and only rehab facility in Southern California to offer this particular cutting-edge TMS therapy in-house, harnessing state-of-the-art “theta-burst” technology – developed by a Danish company named MagVenture – that’s ten times faster than what most facilities are able to offer.”

Since gaining FDA approval in 2008, TMS Therapy has become available at facilities nationwide; however, in most cases, the sessions take up to 40 minutes to complete and require several sessions a week. With Oro House’s state-of-the-art MagVenture Theta Burst TMS Machine, which received FDA clearance in 2018, the typical therapy session lasts only three minutes.

By taking advantage of the latest, most efficient technology, Oro House is able to offer more comfortable and more effective treatment than most other facilities — and by offering the service in-house, Oro House’s TMS treatment is ultra-convenient for the centers’ patients.

A list of baseline questions about TMS are answered below:

  • What is it?: TMS Therapy is a non-invasive form of safe, painless brain stimulation given while the patient is fully awake without sedation or medication.
  • How does it work?: A technician positions a magnetic coil over the head, which delivers magnetic energy pulses to regions of the brain associated with mood, stimulating or creating neuronal activity in regions of the brain responsible for making us feel happy or “normal.”
  • Who is it for?: TMS Therapy is an ideal treatment approach for those with Major Depressive Disorder who have not had success with medications. It has also worked in treating Anxiety, Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), addiction to drugs or alcohol, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Schizophrenia, and some types of traumatic brain injury (TBI).

Oro House’s team of medical experts treats each patient as an individual, assessing their specific addiction and mental health needs and mapping out a plan accordingly. TMS Therapy is the newest of Oro House’s several comprehensive dual-diagnosis therapies, including medication assisted treatment; trauma-informed cognitive and dialectical behavioral therapy; holistic-based therapy; psychodynamic therapy; and more.

Named the #1 rehab facility in California by Newsweek and Statista, Oro House is also newly in-network with Anthem Blue Cross at their LA locations, making TMS and other treatments accessible to a significant number of prospective clients, as well as to members of the general public who are not otherwise clients of Oro House.

You can learn more about Oro House’s treatment programs at http://www.ororecovery.com. For media inquiries, please contact RVD Communications at orohouse@rachelvandolsen.com.

Registered Nurse Retires from Healthcare to Open MassageLuXe Spa in Orlando Suburb

News Image

“Massage is increasingly viewed as a complementary form of medicine. I’m enjoying the transition from mainstream healthcare to a focus on alternative solutions for pain relief, stress, and other conditions.” – Matt Hotchkiss, MassageLuXe Franchise Owner

MassageLuXe is thrilled to announce its newest spa coming soon to the Orlando-area suburb of Ocoee, Florida. The premier spa concept was a great fit for new franchise partners Matt and Stephanie Hotchkiss because they are passionate about health and wellness.

As a registered nurse who has worked in emergency medicine, Matt knows first-hand the need to care for body and mind. He feels strongly about the benefits of therapies like massage to help with physical and mental health.

“As a medical professional, I have seen first-hand that our society doesn’t focus enough on prevention and educating people on how to truly care for themselves,” Matt says. “I want to be part of the solution rather than a hospital’s revolving door. Massage is increasingly viewed as a complementary form of medicine. I’m enjoying the transition from mainstream healthcare to a focus on alternative solutions for pain relief, stress, and other conditions.”

As sports enthusiasts who live an active lifestyle with their two young children, Matt and Stephanie are always on the go. The couple was looking for a business ownership opportunity that matched their passions and would be valuable for their local community. That’s when Stephanie suggested a spa franchise.

“There’s an educational element that really brought us into this,” Matt explains. “For example, teaching customers about the need for hydration, especially after a massage. Drinking water after a massage therapist manipulates the muscles helps the body flush out toxins. It’s that kind of stuff. Stephanie and I feel like spa ownership will be an opportunity to provide quality care. MassageLuXe is focused on helping people feel great long term, not prescribing temporary solutions that often come with complications. We really appreciate MassageLuXe’s approach to overall health and wellness. The spas are beautifully designed and welcoming.”

Matt will oversee daily operations of the new MassageLuXe spa, and he’s hopeful the couple will eventually expand to additional locations. As a corporate event planner, Stephanie intends to keep her full-time job while supporting the business behind the scenes.

“We’ve all been through a transformative experience in recent years, and Matt and Stephanie represent a growing trend of professionals who want a meaningful lifestyle change,” says Mark Otter, CEO of MassageLuXe. “We look forward to seeing how Matt’s background as a health professional will influence his experience as a MassageLuXe franchise owner. We are thrilled he and Stephanie are passionate about helping others discover the benefits of massage.”

ReConnect, in Austin, Is a New Integrative Center for Mental Health for Healing Inside and Out

Located in a quiet neighborhood in Austin, Texas, away from the traffic and city noise, ReConnect is a warm, peaceful, and inviting space where anyone can come to reach their wellness goals. Dr. Carolina Castaños and her team of wellness professionals work with individuals, couples, families, organizations, and small groups to improve their minds, bodies, and souls using holistic and science-backed treatments and programs.

Dr. Castaños, a psychotherapist who’s worked in the mental health space for more than two decades, is a firm believer in the benefits of an integrative approach to wellness. When asked what makes ReConnect different from other wellness centers, her face lights up as she explains.

“Our practitioners work together to develop client-centered programs and therapies to help people heal, depending on what you need and where you’re at in the healing process. At ReConnect, you get a personalized wellness program designed to meet your needs,” states the founder, Dr. Castaños. She continues, “We focus on the healing process and providing a space to learn and realize that taking care of our mental health through these practices is crucial for a healthy and happy life; with tools to use whenever life happens, and difficulties arise.”

“To heal, we need to bring attention to our mind, which involves not only our nervous system but its relationship with the internal world (thoughts, feelings, emotions, sensations, our bodies, and our spiritual connection) as well as the relationship with our external world (other individuals and our environment),” Dr. Castaños continues to explain. “At ReConnect, we offer our clients holistic options like acupuncture, sound therapy, functional nutrition, therapeutic yoga, specialized psychotherapy, Ayurveda, and other therapies to deliver a more profound healing experience. The services we provide are carefully considered to work in conjunction with each other to promote the highest degree of healing possible.”

ReConnect strives to be a place where people come for complete healing, but it’s also a place for creating community and, as Dr. Castaños puts it, the “undoing of aloneness.” Today’s social climate promotes loneliness and isolation—with the recent pandemic deepening the epidemic of loneliness. In fact, a recent Harvard report suggests that 36% of all Americans feel “significant loneliness.”

“When you walk through the doors of ReConnect, you meet other people who are feeling what you’re feeling. We all suffer. We all experience isolation to some degree, but when we come together, we realize that this is common to all humans, we realize we’re not alone, there is nothing wrong with us, we are just hurting and need help,” says Dr. Castaños.

ReConnect aims to offer even more holistic services and workshops to further advance healing and wellness in the coming months, with the following programs:

  • Mindful Self Compassion
  • Ayurveda for Mental Health
  • Stress, Nutrition, and Exercise
  • Yoga for Grief
  • Leadership & Creativity for Female Entrepreneurs

There will also be monthly Master Classes including:

  • Sleep and Health
  • Importance and Difference between Probiotics and Prebiotics
  • The ins and outs of Ayurveda
  • Qi-Gong to reduce Anxiety
  • The Wise of Yoga
  • Herbs and Chinese Medicine
  • Functional Labs – How are they different and why are they important

As ReConnect grows, one thing won’t change— Dr. Castaños and her team’s commitment to preserving a tight-knit space that feels like a loving home to all.

ReConnect is located at 8724 Mountain Crest Dr. in Austin, TX. For more information about the wellness center, visit their website at https://reconnecthealth.com.
