Savoy Foundation Hosts the 22nd Annual Winter Charity Gala, Ballo di Savoia (Savoy Ball), Supporting Chivalry For Children’s Causes Mission

2019 Ballo di Savoia (Savoy Ball) Winter Charity Gala

HRH Prince Emmanuel Philibert of Savoy, Her Excellency Vicki Downey and HRH Prince Dimitri of Yugoslavia

The Savoy Foundation is continuing the chivalric traditions and humanitarian causes of the Savoy Orders in the Western Hemisphere

On Saturday evening, December 14, 2019, the 22nd Ballo di Savoia (Savoy Ball), the annual winter charity gala hosted by the American Foundation of Savoy Orders, returned to the elegant Metropolitan Club. The Savoy Foundation was delighted to welcome back His Royal Highness Prince Emmanuel Philibert of Savoy, Prince of Venice and Prince of Piedmont and his cousin His Royal Highness Prince Dimitri of Yugoslavia, who were guests of honor for this occasion. The Ball was part of a four-day weekend of events organized by the American Delegation of Savoy Orders and the American Foundation of Savoy Orders, continuing the spirit and tradition of charitable giving and hospitaller care of the historic dynastic orders of knighthood and merit of the thousand-year Royal House of Savoy. More than 300 patrons, benefactors and guests attended the white-tie dinner-dance and raised funds in support of the Savoy Foundation’s philanthropic mission – Chivalry for Children’s Causes – and the event’s primary beneficiary – The New York Foundling Summer Camp Program for inner city foster-care children. Prior to Saturday’s evening Gala, a private reception for Patrons and Benefactors was held and a Welcome Reception on Friday evening, December 13 at the Lotos Club for guests attending the Savoy Ball.

At the Ball on Saturday, a highlight of the evening was the remarks by Prince Emmanuel Philibert who praised the achievements of the Savoy Foundation in the past 25 years. “It is so personally gratifying for me to witness how splendidly you are continuing the chivalric traditions of the Savoy Orders and how you have so creatively adapted and expanded – in the Western Hemisphere – my family’s dedication to humanitarian causes over our 1000 year history. Compared to European countries, you are a young nation – but, your spirit of innovation, creativity and love for humanity sets a shining example that is recognized throughout the world…To the summer camp program of the New York Foundling – who we congratulate and applaud this evening – on the 150th Anniversary of their founding by the Sisters of Charity in 1869.”

The Chairman of the Board Carl J. Morelli and President Joseph Sciame of the Savoy Foundation were proud to announce that the event was a record-breaking success! Funds raised would provide a summer camp experience for 150 children in the summer of 2020 where young people will have the opportunity to enjoy a vacation away from inner city streets and connect with nature, and enable them to bond with their peers, learn new skills, stay active and nurture their creativity. Bill Baccaglini, President and CEO of the Foundling, shared with the evening’s guests his reflections on the Foundling’s 150th anniversary and expressed his gratitude to the Savoy Foundation for the impact that the funds raised at the charity ball would have for more than 100 needy families: “Residing in some of New York City’s most impoverished communities, our kids are given a chance they wouldn’t otherwise have: the opportunity to experience the joys of summer camp, a rite of passage for most American children.” He was proud to introduce a young man who participated in the summer camp program as a testimonial example of the impact of the program has had for children on welfare in its foster care system.

In addition to attending the Savoy Ball, the Prince, whose royal title is also Prince of Venice, attended the American Foundation of Savoy Orders’ inaugural cocktail reception for the newly established Savoy Orders Youth Program in the United States, on the evening of Thursday, December 12, 2019. The event was jointly sponsored with Save Venice Inc. which raises funds to preserve the artistic heritage of Venice. The Prince and the Dynastic Orders of the Royal House of Savoy stand in solidarity with Venice, the city of his title, which has recently suffered the second worst flood in 50 years.

The Savoy Ball of New York continues a thousand-year tradition of goodwill and charitable giving through its Patrons, Benefactors and Sponsors: Platinum Benefactors: Cindy and Mark Pigott, KBE and Dr. Hideto Tomabechi; Silver Sponsors: Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Pica II; Grand Patrons: Mr. and Mrs. Daniel J. McClory; Patrons: Ms. Vivian Cardia, Mr. and Mrs. Frank J. Desiderio, Esq., Mr. & Mrs. John Napoli, Seyfarth Shaw, LLP, and Mrs. and Mrs. George C. White; Benefactors: Louis Benza, Esq., Dr. Raymond Benza, Mr. and Mrs. Victor D. Cho, Mr. Richard Cuneo, Baroness Flavia Frati-Spagnola, Mr. and Mrs. Patrick O. Mahoney, Nicholas Martini Foundation, Carl J. Morelli, Esq., Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Pecora, Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Viscogliosi; Sponsors: Anthony Cipriano, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Soloway, Dr. and Mrs. Stephen G. Somkuti, and Prof. Theodore H. Jacobsen. Other guests included Reverend Monsignor Robert T. Ritchie, Rector of the Cathedral of Saint Patrick, Her Excellency Vicki Downey, Mrs. Christina Rose and Baroness Gabrielle von Langendorff.

Next year’s Savoy Ball is scheduled for Saturday, December 12, 2020, at the Metropolitan Club in New York City.

ABOUT THE ROYAL HOUSE OF SAVOY

The Dynastic Orders of the Royal House of Savoy are among the oldest orders of Knighthood and Merit in the world. The Savoy Orders are headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland and have 35 Delegations worldwide that support the Orders’ ongoing charitable works. Their origins and their principles, traditions and humanitarian goals date back a thousand years. HRH Prince Victor Emmanuel of Savoy, Prince of Naples and Duke of Savoy, is Head of the House of Savoy and Grand Master of the Savoy Orders. Prince Emmanuel Philibert is his son and the hereditary crown Prince of Italy and currently serves as President of the Council of the Savoy Orders.

In 1946, when the Kingdom of Italy came to an end, the House of Savoy was Europe’s oldest reigning dynasty. The heads of the House of Savoy had ruled, first as counts, then as dukes and finally as kings, for almost a thousand years. Descended in the direct male line from a tenth-century vassal of the Holy Roman Emperor, the Savoys ruled the Alpine state of Aosta, as well as Savoy, where they established their capital at Chambery. Their dominion was eventually extended to include Piedmont and other territories in what are now Italy, France and Switzerland. By the eighteenth century, the Savoys were kings of Sicily and then Sardinia, and it was under their aegis that the Italian states were united by 1871.

The Royal Family’s heritage can be seen in castles and palaces, and in the beauty of the northwestern Italian city of Turin, the Savoys’ magnificent capital in the heart of Piedmont in the 16th into the 19th centuries. The dynastic chivalric traditions of the Royal House of Savoy continue. The Order of the Annunciation and the Order of Saints Maurice and Lazarus, two of the world’s oldest knightly institutions, are still alive today, epitomizing the dynasty’s medieval spirit while supporting very modern charitable works in Italy, Switzerland, France, Japan, the United States and elsewhere. Chivalry lives. Today, the House of Savoy remains one of the oldest royal dynasties.

Synthetic Fentanyl Crisis and Our Response

Acutis Diagnostics Inc. announced that its most recent menu of synthetic fentanyl tests is the subject of a publication, “Urine Quantitative Analysis of 26 Novel fentanyl Analogs and Metabolites by LC-MS/MS and its Clinical Significance” and was presented as a poster at the 40th annual meeting of the American College of Toxicology (ACT). Additionally, the company announced that this work was accepted for publication in the International Journal of Toxicology in an upcoming issue during 2020. In the presentation, which was attended by both industry and as well as government officials, Acutis scientists outlined the research and development process they undertook to build and validate a comprehensive assay of more than two dozen analogs of fentanyl which were identified in clinical samples obtained from substance abuse facilities in the US.

“New forms of synthetic fentanyl are being introduced in the streets and often mixed with other substances. In many instances, we have observed that patients that were previously thought to be in compliance with their substance management programs were in fact utilizing certain forms of opioids that evaded detection by conventional means. After working with various agencies to identify the most prevalent forms of synthetic fentanyl, we then focused our efforts on the development of robust methodology by which we could identify and quantitate the levels of all of these compounds in a single assay with a total run time of under six minutes,” said Mumtaz Akhtar, Acutis Senior Scientist and lead author on the study.

The Acutis synthetic fentanyl assay identifies 26 of most common analogs of fentanyl as well as an additional three novel synthetic opioids (“Utopioids”) to provide an extensive menu of compounds that can detect highly dangerous substances that are in use. Such information provides clinicians with the ability to better monitor substance misuse that would otherwise go undetected. Moreover, many such patients were shown to be unwittingly using such drugs, a number of which can be lethal in amounts far less than common street drugs. “Our new synthetic fentanyl assay provides a comprehensive confirmatory drug assay that is capable of reducing the false negative rate that currently exists with less robust assays,” said Dr. Marjorie Bon Homme, Acutis’ Clinical Laboratory Director. “We are well positioned to provide an unsurpassed level of service to our substance use clientele who are increasingly trying to catch up to the wide array of street drug adulteration that is becoming more commonplace. We are also pleased to have presented our findings to concerned parties, such as the Drug Enforcement Agency, that have a shared goal to combat this public health crisis.”

ACC Medlink Purchases Three New Mercedes Sprinters For 2020

ACC Medlink’s New Look Mercedes Sprinter Van!

ACC Medlink has purchased three 2020 Mercedes Sprinters that will be added to the already immense fleet of long distance medical transport vehicles. These vehicles will help add to an already “Green” fleet. “We’re excited to retire one of our longest running medical transport vehicles that has officially accumulated over one million miles. It will be replaced by one of the three new vehicles we’ve purchased. We are recognized as the largest Non-Emergency Medical Transportation company in the U.S.” said Michael Peat, CEO.

ACC has been providing long distance medical transportation to thousands of customers over the last 12 years. Their fleet is available 24/7 in every city and state across the contiguous U.S. for state to state medical transportation. Similar to how a hospital will upgrade their equipment, they feel it’s necessary to upgrade the transportation vehicles when the time comes. ACC Medlink strives to put safety and comfort above all else. The 2020 Mercedes Sprinter has the BlueTEC system which was created to improve vehicle performance and economy while lowering emissions. One of the BlueTEC components include AdBlue, which is a liquid solution injected into the exhaust. “When this is done, the liquid converts nitrogen oxide emissions into harmless nitrogen and oxygen, greatly reducing the emissions output”. These vehicles are incredibly spacious and have the feel of luxury, while also being better for the environment. Some companies utilize recreation vehicles (RVs) for their long distance medical transport, and these vehicles have higher emissions and are proven unsafe when compared to ACC’s fleet of vehicles.

Fuel economy, with a focus on green emissions, seems like it might only be beneficial to ACC Medlink, but it’s helpful for the patient on board. The goal is a safe and quick transport to their destination. The BlueTEC Clean Diesel technology helps make this a reality. “Almost every BlueTEC equipped vehicle offers a fuel economy that is six to eight miles per gallon better than equivalent gasoline-powered vehicles”. This allows for less gas-stops and more on-road time.

ACC Medlink makes modifications to the entire inside of the van for complete comfort during the long distance transport. Three beds and two captains chairs are in the back so multiple passengers can accompany their loved ones. An inspection service runs a crash simulation on the structural integrity of the materials used inside of the Mercedes Sprinter. They check the strength of the bed-plate welding, fittings, chairs, and other items in the back of the van. The goal of the inspections are to ensure that the modifications provide the safest possible vehicle for ACC Medlink customers. Since safety is the number one priority, they take the extra steps to ensure the safety of all passengers aboard their medical transport vehicles. ACC Medlink can be contacted at 1-800-550-1025.

The organization pledged to match funds donated from its branch partners across the country through the end of 2019. After Winning Prestigious Technology Award, InfoBionic Looks Ahead to 2020

InfoBionic was awarded the 2019 Frost and Sullivan North American Award

MoMe Kardia puts the patient at the center of the digital ecosystem, non-intrusively recording, storing, and analyzing cardiac activity—virtually bringing the patient closer to the physician.

InfoBionic, a digital health company headquartered in Waltham, Mass., claimed the esteemed 2019 Frost and Sullivan North American Remote Cardiac Monitoring Technology Leadership Award for its MoMe Kardia product, the only full-disclosure remote monitor currently on the market that allows doctors immediate and 24/7 access to cardiac data on demand. The award represented formal recognition of the company’s success in 2019, which was bolstered by the myriad enhancements made to its flagship product, which was already cutting edge.

“The award is given to the company that shows the greatest commitment to innovation and creativity, operational efficiency, growth potential, technological leverage and business impact,” said Frost & Sullivan Senior Research Analyst Debarati Sengupta. “Ultimately, success is measured by the degree to which a technology is leveraged and the impact that technology has on growing the business.”

The MoMe Kardia captures a clinical-grade electrocardiogram (ECG) and delivers continuous cardiac monitoring in near real time, which the physician can access on his or her tablet, smartphone, or on any Internet-connected computer. Many older technologies require that cardiac patients in distress press a button or key (referred to as “self-activation”) to relay their cardiac readings to the physician. The MoMe Kardia requires no such intervention. The patient needs merely to go about his or her day; the technology does the rest.

In addition to improving patient outcomes, some studies have already demonstrated a significant cost savings that can be realized with remote cardia monitoring; “Remote patient monitoring and patient-generated health data from monitoring devices contribute to valuable clinical, financial, and operational returns on investment (ROI),” according to a July 2018 report.

The MoMe Kardia also boasts enormous gains in the area of data retention. Studies show that legacy systems lose 95 percent to 99 percent of cardiac data.

Independent diagnostic and testing facilities servicing monitors might transmit a 30-second tape of a detected arrhythmia, but doctors frequently miss crucial onset and offset data in the moments prior, losing a key piece of vital data. There is no such data loss with the MoMe Kardia.

Enhancements made to the MoMe Kardia product in 2019 demonstrate that InfoBionic is not resting on its laurels. They listened to cardiologists and electrophysiologists who explained their workflow in detail and how MoMe Kardia truly delivers the telemetry monitoring they need. The MoMe Kardia advisory board met quarterly in 2019 and is made up of InfoBionic customers across the country. They helped drive several of the product releases this year which included new functionality in the software as well as upgrades to the MoMe Kardia device.

Additional enhancements include supplementary views of the two channels the MoMe Kardia currently acquires, adding selectable leads III, aVr, aVf and aVl. This is called six-lead personal ECG monitoring and enables a cardiologist to select the lead best suited to assist in diagnosis.

“We’re very pleased with what we accomplished in 2019 and will continue to work for what we stand for,” said InfoBionic CEO Stuart Long. “That is the need in the remote cardiac monitoring industry for a cardiac monitor that integrates the positive attributes of the various form factors, while also keeping in mind evolving healthcare trends and patients’ increasing comfort with the digital space,” he said. “MoMe Kardia puts the patient at the center of the digital ecosystem, non-intrusively recording, storing, and analyzing cardiac activity—virtually bringing the patient closer to the physician.”

The prestigious Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit health care ratings organization, announced the Top Hospitals in the country and AdventHealth Carrollwood, AdventHealth North Pinellas, AdventHealth Sebring, AdventHealth Wesley Chapel and AdventHealth Zephyrhills all received the Top General Hospital award. Additionally, AdventHealth Wauchula earned the Top Rural Hospital designation for the sixth time in a row.

Top General Hospital is an elite designation with only 37 hospitals in the country and 21 hospitals in Florida receiving the recognition from the Leapfrog safety group. Only the highest performing hospitals on the Leapfrog Hospital Survey, earning an A rating, are eligible to be recognized annually with this award. Top Hospitals have better systems in place to prevent medication errors, higher quality on maternity care and lower infection rates.

“Patient safety is our priority and we are honored to have six of the 21 hospitals in Florida named as a Top Hospital. We are commitment to clinical excellence and making investments in our people and hospitals so that we can deliver the highest quality of care to our communities,” said Mike Schultz, President and CEO, AdventHealth West Florida Division. “As an organization, it is imperative that we work continuously to elevate care and provide the safest environment possible for every patient, every time.”

In addition to the six Top Hospital designations, all participating hospitals in the AdventHealth West Florida Division received an A or B in patient safety from the Leapfrog Group, including:

· AdventHealth Wesley Chapel (10th consecutive A)

· AdventHealth Zephyrhills (4th consecutive A)

The Safety Grade assigns letter grades of A, B, C, D and F to hospitals nationwide based on their performance in preventing medical errors, infections and other harms.

“This outstanding accomplishment is only possible because of our dedicated leadership, physicians and staff who are committed to this journey of excellence in patient safety,” said Dr. Robin McGuinness, Senior Executive Officer of Patient Outcomes, AdventHealth West Florida Division. “We’ve implemented very specific, tangible initiatives in all West Florida Division hospitals to ensure all of our hospitals reach an “A” grade in patient safety and follow the guidelines The Leapfrog Group sets as the standard for safe practices.”

AdventHealth voluntarily participates in the Leapfrog assessment and provides full transparency to our hospitals and our data to patient safety experts for review. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade measures 27 areas of hospital safety and scores hospitals with A, B, C, D and F grades based on that data.

To qualify for the Top Hospitals distinction, hospitals must rank top among peers in the 2019 Leapfrog Hospital Survey, which assesses hospital performance on the highest known standards for quality and patient safety and achieve top performance in its category. Dr. Rahal is a plastic surgeon Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Rahal’s patients choose him because of his before-and-after results and high standards of patient care.

This $125,000 total body makeover procedure is called “The 720 Experience.” The procedure consists of 360 Degree Lipo, which sculpts the body to an hourglass shape. Using fat transfer to the buttocks, also known as a Brazilian butt lift (BBL), he also gives volume and shape to the hips and buttocks. To complete the procedure he also performs 360 Degree Skin Tightening. He utilizes two technologies to tighten skin all around the body. The technologies are J-Plasma and Morpheus8. J-Plasma tightens the skin from the inside while Morpheus8 is performed from the outside, resulting in optimal skin tightening. Morpheus8 can also be used on the face and neck for skin tightening, rejuvenation and the reshaping of the jawline.

“When you combine 360 Lipo and 360 Skin Tightening and you get the 720 Experience”, states Dr. Rahal. Unlike regular 360 Lipo, the 720 Experience includes all areas of the body, such as arms and thighs. This Head- to-Toe treatment turns back the clock on both the shape of a woman’s body and her skin. It gives beautiful curves and tighter, youthful skin. As Dr. Rahal puts it, “It gives my patients the body of their dreams. The one they had when they were 15 years younger, or one they never had at all.”

The 720 Experience also includes a stay at a luxury Beverly Hills hotel during recovery, along with a patient’s own private concierge and nurses on 24 hours of duty. Patients get post-operative treatments to ensure the best results possible as well as follow up examinations with Dr. Rahal.
