In Don’t Hold Your Sh** (also available in the kid-friendly censored alternative, Don’t Hold Your Poo-Poo), Adeniyi tells the story of Baby, who struggles with going poo-poo due to fear and anxiety.
By following Baby’s journey as she attempts to go #2, the book helps young readers struggling with “poop anxiety”. Poop anxiety, also known as stool withholding, is common among toddlers, who may resist pooping because they had a negative experience in the past.
For adult readers, Don’t Hold Your Sh** delivers important lessons about the importance of letting go of toxic or limiting ideas and behaviors to support mental health. Featuring characters from diverse backgrounds, the book also encourages empathy — because we all have problems letting go sometimes.
Don’t Hold Your Sh** and Don’t Hold Your Poo-Poo are currently available in hardcover, paperback and Kindle on Amazon and www.dontholdyoursh.com

At the heart of KAMUT® wheat pasta’s superior quality is the meticulous growing and processing of the grain. This care and attention helps to ensure that the final product achieves the perfect balance of optimal cooking, aroma, and flavor with every single serving.
Today, KAMUT® wheat pasta is available in various shapes, including the ever-popular spaghetti, making it easy to incorporate into family favorite meals. Leading producer of artisan organic pasta, Pastificio Felicetti, has been using KAMUT® Brand Wheat since 2000. Felicetti was initially won over by the incredible flavor profile that KAMUT® wheat offers, underscoring the other exceptional qualities of KAMUT® wheat and its place in modern, health-conscious cooking.
From a nutritional standpoint, KAMUT® Brand Wheat, as a “Still Ancient™” grain offers a great tasting, healthy, and nutritious alternative to modern wheats, which are often today associated with digestive and dietary issues. Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN), Sharon Palmer, says, “Each KAMUT® Brand Wheat kernel packs an impressive punch of nutrients—notably fiber and protein—but also a host of health-promoting vitamins and minerals, such as zinc, phosphorus, magnesium, B vitamins thiamin and niacin, selenium, copper, and manganese. These nutrients contribute to many potential health benefits, from helping cognitive function and metabolism to supporting normal blood pressure and a thriving gut microbiome.” Additionally, evidence suggests that some people with wheat sensitivities who cannot tolerate modern wheat may better handle ancient wheat varieties, such as KAMUT® Brand Wheat.
This World Pasta Day, savor the richness of pasta made with KAMUT® Brand Wheat, a culinary icon, and a source of healthy nourishment. Stay connected with KAMUT® Brand Wheat and learn more about their offerings and recipes by following them on social media.
KAMUT® Brand Wheat is an ancient grain, guaranteed under the KAMUT® brand, to never be modified or hybridized, always organically grown, and prized for its nutrition, ease of digestibility, sweet nutty-buttery taste, and firm texture. “We are extremely excited” said Stuart Sullivan, Chief Philanthropy Officer for Shriners Children’s. “This partnership serves as an example of the philanthropic mindset that ThreePeaks Brands, Inc. has for their company, and we are honored they selected Shriners Children’s to support.”
Shriners Children’s is a special, one-of-a-kind healthcare system with a reputation for finding answers and giving families hope for their child’s future. Since opening its first hospital in 1922, Shriners Children’s has made it their mission to improve the lives of children, regardless of a family’s ability to pay or insurance status. Over the last century, Shriners Children’s has treated more than 1.5 million children from more than 170 countries. Today, their multiple locations in the United States, Canada, and Mexico provide advanced care for children with a range of orthopedic issues, as well as care for burn injuries, craniofacial conditions, spine care and spinal cord injuries, colorectal and gastrointestinal care, and sports medicine.
The connection between Shriners Children’s and ThreePeaks Brands was seeded well before the organizations even knew about each other. “I used to drive by the Shriners Children’s location on 19th Avenue in San Francisco,” reflected Andy Salis, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing for ThreePeaks Brands, who grew up in San Francisco. “That was the second hospital in the system and was built in 1928. It was beautiful. But what was really beautiful was what they were doing inside to help kids. Everybody in town was proud of the Shriners. And now, decades later, we’re proud to be supporting them in their continuing efforts to provide such needed care.”
ThreePeaks Brands, Inc. produces, markets, and distributes “functional” foods and beverages, products that not only taste good, but also provide enhanced nutritional value. One of their flagship products is Heathy Dairy® Yogurt Smoothie, a drinkable yogurt that provides 23 essential nutrients, prebiotics, probiotics and active plant botanicals that reduce serum cholesterol.
“We’ve sold this product to the U.S. Navy for more than six years,” Salis said. “The Defense Logistics Agency tested it against all the big-name brands, and it won hands-down. That’s why it is the only such product on the Navy’s Master Load List and has won their Core Menu Honors status for all six years.”
ThreePeaks Brands, Inc. is looking forward to this partnership and supporting Shriners Children’s life-changing mission.
“That’s what our products do,” said Carleton Prince, CEO and President of ThreePeaks Brands, Inc., “they provide enhanced nutrition to improve the lives of our consumers, to help them feel better, live better, get better. What Shriners Children’s is doing to improve kids’ lives from a medical perspective, ThreePeaks Brands is doing from a nutritional perspective. We are honored to be able to provide support for the critically important work of Shriners Children’s. With a portion of every dollar, of every purchase, of every one of our products, going to the organization, this is a very appropriate natural next step in our efforts to improve the health and well-being of people.”
Shriners Children’s is also looking forward to the partnership.
“ThreePeaks Brands not only provides beneficial products, but they, too, share a commitment to improving lives, which is what Shriners Children’s is all about,” said Mel Bower, Chief Marketing & Communications Officer for Shriners Children’s. “This partnership is a great fit for both organizations, and we are looking forward to what we can accomplish together in the future.”

That the council achieved 100 members in only two years reflects the recognition by health systems that lifestyle medicine is a potential solution to the ineffective and unsustainable current U.S. model of health care delivery. In fact, for many diseases, clinical practice guidelines recommend lifestyle intervention as the first and optimal treatment, but clinicians too often lack the knowledge and skills to help patients make successful behavior changes. Lifestyle medicine clinicians use therapeutic lifestyle interventions as a primary modality to treat chronic conditions including, but not limited to, cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes, and obesity.
HSC member organizations from both urban and rural areas nationwide are incorporating lifestyle medicine in a variety of innovative ways, from community-wide initiatives at Mayo Clinic, Emory Healthcare and NYC Health + Hospitals to “employee health first” projects in Alaska and Wyoming. The U.S. military, one of the largest health systems in the country, is integrating lifestyle medicine into care it provides active-duty service members due to the increasing levels of chronic disease that negatively affect readiness.
“The enthusiasm and urgency with which this diverse and collaborative community of health systems responded when ACLM launched its Health Systems Council two years ago has surpassed even our initial expectations,” said ACLM President Beth Frates, MD, FACLM, DipABLM, clinical assistant professor at Harvard Medical School. “HSC member organizations are pioneering the integration of lifestyle medicine into health systems to improve the health and quality of life of large populations, to lower costs, to improve health equity and to increase clinician and patient satisfaction. ACLM is incredibly proud of the great success of the HSC and is excited for its future.”
The health care landscape is shifting from fee-for-service toward value-based care payment models, and lifestyle medicine is synonymous with high-value care delivery. Lifestyle medicine-certified clinicians are trained to apply evidence-based, whole-person, prescriptive lifestyle change to treat and, when used intensively, often reverse lifestyle-related chronic disease. Applying the six pillars of lifestyle medicine—a whole-food, plant-predominant eating pattern, physical activity, restorative sleep, stress management, avoidance of risky substances and positive social connections—also provides effective prevention for these conditions.
HSC member NYC Health + Hospitals is a prime example of system innovation in lifestyle medicine. The health system is expanding its original lifestyle medicine program to six new sites across all five boroughs. New York City Mayor Eric Adams has championed the expansion and other large city mayors have taken notice. In June, the U.S. Conference of Mayors ratified a resolution supporting a lifestyle medicine approach to addressing the nation’s trajectory of chronic disease.
“NYC Health + Hospitals is proud to be a founding member of ACLM’s Health Systems Council, demonstrating our commitment to advancing lifestyle medicine as a core approach to preventing and treating chronic disease,” said Michelle McMacken, MD, FACP, DipABLM, NYC Health + Hospitals Executive Director, Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine. “Kudos to the Health Systems Council for achieving a 100-member milestone and inspiring a sea change in the practice of medicine.”
Since certification began in 2017 by the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine (ABLM), more than 5,000 physicians and other health professionals worldwide have become certified. The largest class ever – more than 1,200 physicians and other health professionals — has registered to take the 2023 certification exam this fall.
Dawn Mussallem, DO, DipABLM, a breast cancer and lifestyle medicine specialist at Mayo’s Comprehensive Cancer Center in Florida who represents Mayo Clinic on the HSC, said her entire medical practice is dedicated to helping patients incorporate the pillars of lifestyle medicine alongside conventional cancer treatments. This approach is directly in line with Mayo Clinic’s mission of inspiring hope and contributing to whole-person health and well-being.
“Lifestyle medicine is integral to delivering successful world-class care and is a fundamental part of Mayo’s integrated clinical practice, education and research,” Dr. Mussallem said.
Scott Kashman, President and CEO of Ascension St. Vincent’s Riverside in Jacksonville, Fla., the 100th organization to join the HSC, said “Ascension St. Vincent’s Riverside is humbled to be the 100th member of this innovative and dynamic group of health care leaders. This collaboration will allow us to leverage resources from American College of Lifestyle Medicine and the support of our health system to promote the health of our associates and the communities we are blessed to serve.”
ABOUT ACLM The American College of Lifestyle Medicine is the nation’s medical professional society advancing lifestyle medicine as the foundation for a redesigned, value-based and equitable healthcare delivery system, leading to whole person health. ACLM educates, equips, empowers and supports its members through quality, evidence-based education, certification and research to identify and eradicate the root cause of chronic disease, with a clinical outcome goal of health restoration as opposed to disease management. http://www.lifestylemedicine.org

GRANDVIEW, Ohio, Oct. 12, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — GRIND Fitness is excited to announce the Grand Opening of their first brick and mortar studio, The GRIND Garage. Nestled on 3rd Avenue next to Woodlands Tavern & Winn Winn Cafe in Grandview, OH, the spacious studio with a garage door for fresh air provides the opportunity to run fitness programs year-round.
Maggie Simcic, owner and founder, has been the driving force behind the GRIND Fitness community, a project she embarked upon four years ago. From its inception, her mission has been clear: design effective and enjoyable workout programs while fostering a culture of encouragement and inclusivity.
Maggie’s journey began with a modest Instagram account during the COVID-19 shutdown, where she shared accessible at-home workouts. Over time, as her virtual community grew so did her desire for in-person fitness interactions. On a leap of faith, she initiated outdoor training programs in a nearby park, which quickly gained a loyal following. However, she always knew that this outdoor setting was not a year-round solution due to Ohio’s harsh winters.
With a place to call home now established, GRIND strength training classes will be conducted in a group setting and are designed to cater to individuals of all fitness levels. With sessions ranging from 30-45 minutes, participants can expect engaging and enjoyable workouts that incorporate dumbbells and various equipment, ensuring variety in each session.
Future plans for the studio also include expanding offerings that will incorporate yoga and mobility programs for recovery, introducing kids’ fitness programs, and hosting monthly donation-based classes to give back to the community.
Your first visit at The GRIND Garage is always on the house and the current schedule features morning and evening classes on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, as well as weekend sessions on Saturday mornings.
