PDA Announces 2023 Drug Delivery Innovation Award Winners at Universe of Pre-Filled Syringes Conference

The Partnership Innovation Award is presented to the Stevanato Group, Bayer US LLC and Vetter Pharma-Fertigung for the innovation of Diluent PFS for reconstitution and administration of a lyophilized biologic. This partnership innovation involved the close collaboration of the development groups of three parties: the glass barrel manufacturer (Stevanato), the diluent PFS manufacturer (Vetter), and the combination product manufacturer (Bayer). The goals of this partnership were to solve a potential compatibility issue with the diluent PFS and biologic drug product and reduce the gliding forces of the diluent PFS during drug product reconstitution. This collaboration highlights the benefits of bringing together stakeholders with their own process expertise to solve a complex issue with a combination product that benefits each of these stakeholders.

“The companies recognized for the 2023 PDA Drug Delivery Innovation Awards are well-deserving of this honor and I congratulate them for their achievements and tireless effort to move the industry forward,” said PDA President & CEO Glenn Wright. “They, and all the companies that were considered for this award presented technology innovations that will certainly benefit patients worldwide and for that we are all grateful.”

PDA recognizes the award winners each year at its annual Universe of Pre-Filled Syringes and Injection Devices conference, which is held in the U.S. in even years and the EU in odd years.

The PDA Drug Delivery Innovation Awards were created in 2019 to recognize technical innovations advancing the field of bio/pharmaceutical manufacturing. The Innovation Award recognizes a new device, manufacturing process, method, or automation that brings value to the industry; the Partnership Innovation Award recognizes achievement in partnering to successfully launch or introduce a new product to the market or modifying an existing product to make it significantly better or scalable.

Noble Research Institute Awarded Conservation Grant to Improve Health and Resilience of Southern Great Plains Grasslands

Consistent application of these principles results in improved soil health over time and can unleash the many benefits of healthy soil. One imperative benefit is increased biodiversity of plants and pollinators as well as enhanced habitat for wildlife.

“Using adaptive grazing is such a powerful tool to improve plant diversity, which is critical to wildlife habitat,” said Will Moseley, Noble regenerative ranching adviser and Certified Wildlife Biologist®. “By improving water distribution and infrastructure, we will be able to use small ruminants to keep woody encroachment from turning our grasslands into woodlands.”

The NFWF grants were awarded through the Southern Plains Grasslands Program, with individual contributions provided by Burger King, Sysco and Cargill, and additional support from the USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

The impact of the support from NFWF and its partners will extend long past the duration of the grant. Resulting research findings and grazing management experiences will shape Noble’s rancher education curriculum moving forward, a curriculum that will be dynamic and shared across the nation.

Noble aims to help producers overcome the barriers that deter the lasting use of regenerative, profitable land management practices in grazing animal production. Our goal is to guide farmers and ranchers in applying regenerative principles that yield healthier soil, more productive grazing land and business success.

“With this support from National Fish and Wildlife Foundation and their funding partners, Noble can equip farmers and ranchers to address the health and resilience of grasslands and enhance the habitat for the wildlife dependent on these lands,” said Steve Rhines, Noble Research Institute president and CEO. “Simultaneously, we can help them create a more resilient ranching operation to ensure their family remains on the land for generations to come.”

About Noble Research Institute
Noble Research Institute, LLC is an independent nonprofit agricultural research organization dedicated to guiding farmers and ranchers in applying regenerative principles that yield healthier soil, more productive grazing land, and business success. Researchers, facilitators and ranch staff work together to give farmers and ranchers the skills and tools to regenerate the land in a profitable manner. Noble is focused on the regenerative management of the nation’s grazing acres, which directly impacts pasture and range environments, wildlife, pecan production, and livestock production. Regenerative management recognizes that each decision made on the ranch impacts the interactions of the soil, plants, water, animals, economics and people. Noble’s 14,000 acres of working ranch lands provide a living laboratory on which to demonstrate and practice regenerative principles and ideas to deliver value to farmers and ranchers across the U.S. Learn more at https://www.noble.org.

About the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation
Chartered by Congress in 1984, the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) protects and restores the nation’s fish, wildlife, plants and habitats. Optimy Launches Employee Engagement Solution to Eradicate Donation and Volunteering Fees for Corporates

Over 350 organizations use Optimy to manage more than 1.5M CSR projects in 22 languages across 25 countries, including companies and foundations such as BNP Paribas, Airbus, Ford, Grameen Foundation, Boralex Inc., Capital Power, Viterra Canada Inc., Epcor Utilities Inc. and many more.

Optimy is committed to helping organizations become a force for good. With no transaction fees (above standard payment processing fees) for donations, Optimy is helping businesses to maximize donations, in order to support non-for-profit organizations across the globe. On top of this, Optimy will not increase customer charges based on the number of volunteers, as well as covering their cost to support increased participation, aiding customers in promoting their volunteering and philanthropic efforts to maximize their social impact.

Kenneth Bérard, Founder and CEO at Optimy, commented: “Nowadays, many companies are launching employee engagement programs within their organizations as part of their CSR policy. Although these programs are well received, there are still some barriers to their success, given that average participation rates tend to be low. This reduces the positive impact such initiatives could have on all stakeholders. Ultimately, companies invest in volunteering or donations programs because they help them retain top employees while also having a positive impact on society. But the figures speak for themselves: employee participation rates remain fairly low to date and something needs to change.

We’re proud to be launching the final phase of our social impact solution and we’re confident that the Donations tool will help to bring greater transparency to the industry, unlocking an array of benefits to our international customers. We don’t believe in making a profit from donations that are supposed to help important causes. Therefore, we will not charge a transaction fee above standard payment processing fees for donations made through Optimy. We want as much money as possible to contribute to making a positive difference on a global scale. We look forward to seeing this unfold with the help of our technology.”

Employee Donations will strengthen Optimy’s Employee Engagement offering, adding a strong feature set including matching gifts, where organizations make a donation to match their employees’ charitable efforts to its existing set of engagement or activation capabilities.

Robyn Schomme, Senior Advisor of Community Investment at EPCOR added: “We would refer Optimy to anyone who is looking for a great way to organize and streamline their community investment activities. Our team now has a much easier time managing corporate giving activities with Optimy’s system and customer service support.”

Paige Gignac, Community Investment Specialist at K+S Potash Canada also added: “K+S Potash Canada (K+S) is committed to being a good neighbour. Through community investment, we seek to positively impact the lives of young people, build relationships that align with our company values, encourage volunteerism, and create a company culture of giving back. The Optimy platform allows us to engage with community partners through the online application process seamlessly embedded right into our website. We use Optimy to manage all aspects of our community investment partnership journey including tools such as budget tracking, messaging and document storage that help track the history of our partnerships year over year. The platform’s automation features also allow us to build capacity among our small team, allowing us to focus more on building relationships rather than administrative tasks. The customization of the platform also allows us to facilitate our Volunteer Plus program, which allows our employees to volunteer their time and then apply for a donation on behalf of K+S to that organization.”

She continued, “We are pleased with the ongoing customer support we receive from the team at Optimy, they listen to our needs and look for solutions that will make our partnership journey better. The platform is easy to use and there are many learning tools that we utilize to further our own understanding of the platform to ensure we are using it to the greatest capacity. I would recommend the platform to organizations looking for tools to manage their CSR or community relations work.”
