American College of Lifestyle Medicine announces certification of TrueNorth Health Center, a medically supervised, water-only fasting facility to address chronic disease

For nearly 40 years, TrueNorth Health Center has helped more than 20,000 people regain their health. The Center, located in Santa Rosa, California, was founded in 1984 by Drs. Alan Goldhamer and Jennifer Marano to teach patients healthful living practices. This involved encouraging an exclusively whole plant food diet without the addition of SOS (salt, oil and sugar), as well as respecting the need for sleep and exercise. The approach they established offers participants the opportunity to obtain evaluation and treatment for a wide variety of problems.

The staff at TrueNorth Health Center includes physicians, chiropractors, naturopaths, psychologists, research scientists and other health professionals. They have extensive experience in the evaluation and conservative management of high blood pressure, diabetes, autoimmune disorders and a wide range of other health conditions. The Center is now the largest residential facility in the world that specializes in medically supervised, water-only fasting.

Participants come to the Center to fast and heal, lose weight, and make diet and lifestyle changes while enjoying a health-promoting diet derived from whole natural foods. It is a unique place to rest, to rejuvenate, and to learn to achieve optimum health.

The long-term health benefits of water-only fasting are often dependent on dietary and lifestyle modifications. In order to facilitate these changes, TrueNorth offers extensive educational programs dealing with diet, food preparation, exercise, proper body use, stress management, sleep, and psychology. These programs are presented in the form of audio and videotapes, live lectures, demonstrations, question-and-answer sessions, and individual consultations. Meals are prepared from fresh fruits and vegetables grown in the Center’s own organic gardens whenever possible.

The ACLM program certification designation is based on evidence including data on program outcomes.

“ACLM is proud to recognize TrueNorth Health Center as a certified lifestyle medicine program,” said ACLM President Beth Frates, MD, DipABLM, FACLM. “Its residential, intensive lifestyle medicine program has been shown to help thousands truly change their lifestyle and the course of their disease.”

True North is the sixth program to earn certification designation from ACLM. The others are: Pivio (formerly the Complete Health Improvement Program), Chanwuyi Lifestyle Medicine Program, The Lift Project, Rochester Lifestyle Medicine Institute’s 15-Day WFPB Jumpstart and Full Plate Living.

ABOUT ACLM–The American College of Lifestyle Medicine is the nation’s medical professional society advancing lifestyle medicine as the foundation for a redesigned, value-based and equitable healthcare delivery system, leading to whole person health. ACLM educates, equips, empowers and supports its members through quality, evidence-based education, certification and research to identify and eradicate the root cause of chronic disease, with a clinical outcome goal of health restoration as opposed to disease management.

Value and Utility vs. Challenges;, Upcoming Webinar Hosted by Xtalks

The existing guidelines that do address the possibility of data collection fail to be specific enough, leaving the door open for interpretation. It is also important to note that these programs that anticipate more robust data collection (e.g., United States Treatment Use Protocol, United Kingdom Early Access to Medicines Program and France Early Access Program) also involve a more extensive approval process, including protocol and informed consent requirements.

Although continued and early access programs are not a substitute for data collection in clinical trials, they may provide supplemental data that address a variety of research questions that could be informative for multiple stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, payers, clinicians and patients. Data collection within these programs allows for generating RWD in typically broader patient populations compared to those analyzed in clinical trials. RWD generated in the pre-approval phase could augment primary clinical trial outcomes in submissions for market approval and are useful for informing future real-world use.

As the number of early access programs and the use of RWD to inform market access continue to grow, so will the benefits of collecting RWD in these programs.

Register for this webinar to learn more about the challenges and benefits of collecting RWD in continued and early access programs, along with opportunities to collect RWD that are scientifically robust, practical and ethical.

Join the following experts from the PPD clinical research business of Thermo Fisher Scientific: Emily Speas, Director, Project Management, Access Solutions, Peri- and Post-Approval Interventional Studies; Pedro Barroso Inácio, Manager, Regulatory Affairs; Martin Parkinson, Executive Director, Value and Access Consulting, Evidera Inc; and Grace Fattal (moderator), Director, Hematology Oncology, Project Delivery, for the live webinar on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at 10am EST (4pm CET/EU-Central).

Modern Meadow Wins 2023 EPA Green Chemistry Challenge Award

Bio-FREED™ Fast Resource Efficient Enhancing Dyeing powered by Bio-Alloy™ delivers to the textile industry a greener one-step dyeing system that is a drop-in to replace the commonly used three-step dyeing process. Bio-FREED™ is a one-step continuous dyeing process that reduces water use by up to 95%, dye usage by up to 80% and decreases energy use by approximately 67%. Water reduction is achieved by eliminating two of the three water-intense steps, whereas the 80% dye usage reduction is achieved through precision delivery of the dyes to the fiber surface in the textile. Similarly, eliminating two energy-intensive steps decreases energy usage by approximately 67%. Bio-FREED™ treated textiles can also be pre-dyed or post-dyed further enabling additional environmental and supply chain benefits.

The Bio-FREED™ process is unique because it also increases production efficiency while improving polyester fibers’ resistance to color migration. Furthermore, It also offers a greater reduction in water and energy use relative to the ECOFAST Pure technology claims.

Quantitative Bioanalysis of Antibody-Drug Conjugates by Mass Spectrometry, Upcoming Webinar Hosted by Xtalks

In this free webinar, gain insights into the complexity, comprehensive strategy and regulatory considerations for bioanalysis in support of the development of drug-conjugated antibody (ADC). A case example will be presented for developing and validating a panel of liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) pharmacokinetics (PK) assays: free drugs (payloads), drug-conjugated antibody (intact ADC) and total antibody. Attendees will learn bioanalytical strategies for ADC drug development and how to apply the PK assay results to inform on ADC stability and dose selection.

TORONTO, Oct. 24, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — Discover a groundbreaking webinar delving into bioanalytical complexity, strategy and regulatory considerations when developing ADC therapeutics with a focus on developing and validating liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) pharmacokinetics (PK) assays.

Antibody-drug conjugates are a new and fast-growing class of targeted drugs consisting of “antibodies, cytotoxic drugs and linkers”. The antibody-drug conjugates are designed to increase the specificity and reduce the toxicity of cytotoxic drugs by utilizing antibodies to deliver the drug specifically to target cells (e.g., tumor cells) while avoiding toxicity in healthy cells. Design of a comprehensive bioanalytical strategy is critical to enable successful regulatory approval.

Understanding the PK profile of antibody-drug conjugates in pre-clinical and clinical studies is a regulatory expectation. Due to the complexity of ADC molecules, there are several analytes that need to be quantified to characterize ADC PK profiles, including free drugs (payloads), drug-conjugated antibodies (intact ADC) and total antibody. Amador Biosciences will share a case study demonstrating the successful development and validation of LC-MS methods for all three analytes.

Join this webinar to gain insights into bioanalytical considerations for ADC development and to learn how to develop and validate LC-MS PK assays which are used to generate data to inform stability and dose selection.

Join experts from Amador Bioscience, Meina Liang, Chief Technology Officer (CTO), President of Bioanalysis & Biomarkers; and Andrea Ngai, Associate Director, Bioanalysis & Biomarkers, for the live webinar on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at 12pm EST (9am PST).
