Mercy Medical Center in the Top 15% of Hospitals in the U.S. For Outstanding Patient Experience 2 Years in a Row, According to Healthgrades

[ad_1]

Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland

Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland

“For nearly 150 years, Mercy has remained true to the mission of the Sisters of Mercy, delivering quality care in a compassionate setting…This award reflects the dedication of…all our staff to fulfilling this mission, each and every day.” — Dr. David N. Maine, Pres/CEO, Mercy Health Services

For the second consecutive year, Mercy Medical Center has received the Healthgrades Outstanding Patient Experience Award™, Dr. David N. Maine, President and CEO of Mercy Health Services, has announced.

Mercy was one of only five hospitals in Maryland to be so honored.

This distinction recognizes Mercy as being among the top 15 percent of hospitals nationwide for patient experience, according to Healthgrades. Healthgrades, is a nationally recognized organization that provides information about physicians, hospitals and health care providers.

“For nearly 150 years, Mercy has remained true to the mission of the Sisters of Mercy, delivering quality care in a compassionate setting to patients, no matter their economic or social condition,” Dr. Maine said. “This award reflects the dedication of our doctors, nurses, and all our staff to fulfilling this mission, each and every day.”

Healthgrades evaluated 3,173 hospitals that submitted at least 75 patient experience surveys to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), covering admissions July 2020-March 2021. Of those hospitals evaluated, 399 hospitals outperformed their peers—based on their patients’ responses—to achieve this award.

Healthgrades evaluates performance by applying a scoring methodology to ten patient experience measures, using data collected from HCAHPS survey of the hospital’s own patients. Survey questions focus on patients’ perspectives of their care in the hospital. The topic of these questions range from cleanliness and noise levels in patient rooms to medication explanations and hospital staff responsiveness to patients’ needs. The measures also include whether a patient would recommend the hospital to friends or family and their overall rating of the hospital.

“We applaud all recipients of the Healthgrades 2022 Outstanding Patient Experience Award for putting patient experience at the front and center within their organizations,” said Brad Bowman, MD, Chief Medical Officer and Head of Data Science, Healthgrades. “We commend these hospitals for their ongoing commitment in prioritizing an exceptional patient experience, while ensuring the health and safety of their patients.”

In addition to the Outstanding Patient Experience Award, Mercy has also received the following Hospital Quality Awards from Healthgrades:

https://wcg.swoogo.com/root-cause-analytics-capa-investigations-june-2022

Effective Root Cause Analysis and CAPA Investigations for the Life Sciences starts in

one week.

Deviations and failures may be a fact of life but understanding what happened, and why, is key to establishing corrective actions and achieving success.

Drug and devicemakers will learn how to upgrade their root cause analysis and corrective and preventive action (CAPA) investigations in this virtual workshop.

James L. Vesper, PhD, MPH, Director of ValSource Learning Solutions, will lead attendees through a defined, logical process for root cause analysis and CAPA investigations that can be applied in the drug, medical device and clinical trial industries. He will help attendees develop the skills and techniques needed to conduct more effective investigations of quality incidents and identify ways to reduce the likelihood of recurrence. Dr. Vesper will empower registrants to:

  • Understand GMP regulatory authorities’ expectations of investigations, CAPAs and investigation reports
  • Differentiate between six different accident/incident models and how they can be applied during an investigation
  • Discern between root cause, contributing cause and proximal cause
  • Discuss why “human error” is not a valid root cause
  • Develop an investigation plan for any given incident
  • Explain the relationship between root, contributing and proximal causes to corrections and corrective actions
  • Examine a model that can be used to illustrate multiple layers of control and mitigation
  • Evaluate an interview using a guideline
  • Identify four different investigation report audiences and what each is expecting to see in the report
  • Recognize options of what can be done when a definitive root cause cannot be identified

This virtual workshop is a must for those who conduct, review or approve investigations in product development, quality assurance, laboratories, operations, technical services, maintenance/engineering or clinical research.

Reminder: Effective Root Cause Analysis and CAPA Investigations for the Life Sciences starts in

one week.

Dalton Receives Approval for Cannabis Analytical Test Licence

[ad_1]

News Image

Dalton Pharma Services is pleased to announce its recent approval for the Cannabis Analytical Test Licence from Health Canada under the Cannabis Act and Cannabis Regulations.

Dalton Pharma Services is pleased to announce its recent approval for the Cannabis Analytical Test Licence from Health Canada under the Cannabis Act and Cannabis Regulations.

The Cannabis Act and Cannabis Regulations provide a foundation for legal access to cannabis, including the control and regulation of cannabis via production, distribution, and sale processes. The Cannabis Analytical Test Licence is required to test cannabis for analytical purposes by any means, including with an organic solvent. Cannabis analytical testing may include, but is not limited to, testing chemical contaminants, microbial contaminants, cannabinoid content, dissolution or disintegration, and/or stability testing.

Currently, Dalton also holds the Cannabis Drug Licence (CDL) and Standard Processing Licence (SPL). CDL holders are authorized to sell drugs containing cannabis to other CDL holders, pharmacists, practitioners, hospital employees, researchers, and analytical testers, while the SPL is required for plant-based cannabis products. Together, these two licenses allow for manufacturing recreational and medicinal cannabis products, respectively.

The recently acquired Cannabis Analytical Test Licence qualifies Dalton to perform tests related to cannabis products for our clients. This exciting development for Dalton Pharma Services enables the organization’s potential to perform Cannabis product tests for Dalton manufactured products and third-party testing contracts. All CBD plant-based tests may now be performed in QC labs.

The A.E. Finley YMCA Will Partner With Hey Clinic And Offer FREE Scoliosis Screening During Their Annual Freedom Festival

[ad_1]

Diagnosing scoliosis early gives patients and families treatment choices like special scoliosis exercises and bracing, which can often stop or even reverse scoliosis in some cases if the curves are caught when they are smaller. says Dr. Lloyd Hey, Director of Hey Clinic

Scoliosis, a potentially painful back condition, will affect 3% of the population, or around nine million people. The Scoliosis Research Society (SRS) reports that there are clear benefits to early detection and screening of children for scoliosis by trained healthcare professionals.

During National Scoliosis Awareness Month in June, healthcare professionals from Hey Clinic will offer free scoliosis screening to children and adults at the A.E. Finley YMCA’s Annual Freedom Festival celebration at 9216 Baileywick Road, Raleigh, NC on June 26th from 5:30-8:30 p.m.

Clinicians will also show parents how they can continue to screen their children using a smartphone bubble app at home. “Since our Hey Clinic team cares for children and adults with spinal deformities, we have seen many adult patients who regret that they were never given the choice to have scoliosis screening and/or early treatment as a child or adolescent, which resulted in their suffering decades later. Diagnosing scoliosis early gives patients and families treatment choices like special scoliosis exercises and bracing, which can often stop or even reverse scoliosis in some cases if the curves are caught when they are smaller. Awareness combined with early screening are the first two important steps to take advantage of the window of opportunity for treatment and prevention at a younger age.” says Dr. Lloyd Hey, Director of Hey Clinic.

Hey Clinic team members will also provide handouts for spine and bone health. They will discuss the importance of vitamin D and calcium, obtaining and maintaining a proper body weight, and how to prevent common bone diseases such as osteoporosis.

The YMCA is expecting over 1000 people to attend the celebration that will include music, activities, food vendors and fireworks. Gates will open at 5:30 and the event is open to both members and the public. “The Y’s mission has always been to create programs that build a healthy spirit, mind, and body, so we’re excited to partner with Hey Clinic and bring awareness to scoliosis by offering free screening at the Freedom Festival,” says a Finley YMCA representative.

For more information on scoliosis treatments and screening visit HeyClinic.com

USOSM Partner Practices Achieve “World-Class” Net Promoter Scores

[ad_1]

USOSM President and CEO Richard Hall Praises Partner Practices’ Exceptional Net Promoter Scores.

This is truly an extraordinary Net Promoter Score achieved by very few companies worldwide. Patient satisfaction is one of the most important measures of success.

Since its inception in November of 2017, U.S. Oral Surgery Management (USOSM) – a specialty management services company that exclusively serves premier oral and maxillofacial surgeons – has established itself as an industry leader. It was the first company of its kind, similar to a dental service organization (DSO), but focusing solely on premier oral and maxillofacial surgeons.

USOSM continues to lead the industry today, with approximately 53 partner practices, 133 sites of service and 156 surgeon partners, across 19 states. All of which, consistently achieve a Net Promoter Score™ (NPS) of 80 or above, according to the reputation management company Birdeye.

This is an amazing feat, considering the average NPS for the healthcare industry as a whole is 58 and the average NPS for healthcare providers in general is around 38, as reported by Customer Gauge. In addition, it’s higher than Customer Gauge’s reported NPS for successful restaurant and retail giants, such as Amazon, which has an NPS of 73; Chick-fil-A, which has an NPS of 58; Apple, which has an NPS of 57; and Walmart, which has an NPS of 40.

NPS measures customer experience and predicts business growth, providing the core measurement for customer experience management programs world-wide. Bain & Company, which helped establish the NPS, is well known for categorizing a “good” NPS as being above zero, with anything above 50 as “excellent” and above 80 as “world-class.”

“We’re proud that the people who helped establish the NPS would call our scores world-class, and we’re even prouder that our surgeon partners have been rated so well by their patients,” said Richard Hall, USOSM president and CEO. This is truly an extraordinary Net Promoter Score, achieved by very few companies worldwide. Patient satisfaction is one of the most important measures of success. We work hard to optimize the business practices with our surgeon partners, and help them create that outstanding patient experience for their patients and their families.”

USOSM partner practices send NPS survey questions to every patient through Birdeye, which records the responses and calculates the NPS for each partner practice in real time.

“We recommend that our partner practices send out a short survey to every patient, every time, and that survey is sent out through a third-party to eliminate any bias. These short surveys provide timely and valuable insight into the patient experience, so that we can identify and address any areas that have room for improvement,” added Hall.

Surveys are sent out with questions asking for a rating on patient experience from zero to 10, with zero being the worst and 10 being the best. Survey respondents are separated into three categories:

  •     Promoters, who give ratings of nine or 10. In general, these are loyal patients who refer others.
  •     Passives, who give ratings of seven or eight. While not necessarily dissatisfied, these lukewarm respondents have a high probability of seeking alternative healthcare in the future.
  •     Detractors, who give ratings of zero to six. Usually, these are dissatisfied patients who may give bad reviews.

Scores are calculated by subtracting the percentage of detractors from the percentage of promoters. This means the rating can range anywhere from -100 to +100. A score that’s above zero suggests that the practice has more promoters than detractors, which is why anything above zero is considered a “good” score.

Headquartered in Irving, Texas, USOSM has partner practices spanning 19 states. They include Texas, Colorado, Georgia, Tennessee, Minnesota, Alabama, Oklahoma, Louisiana, South Carolina, Mississippi, Florida, Indiana, Kentucky, Arizona, California, Oregon, Virginia, Washington and Massachusetts. A shared services organization, USOSM collaborates with premier oral and maxillofacial surgeons to offer a partnership solution for continued and accelerated practice success. USOSM provides operational, marketing and administrative support services, reinvests resources, and applies best practices to improve clinical and financial performance and produce steadier, more profitable growth for all.
