Villas Holly Brook Marshall Staff Relieved to Get the Vaccine

We enjoy seeing the expressions of relief on the faces of the residents and staff as the vaccinations are administered.

On December 23, 2020, staff members at Villas of Holly Brook Marshall, an assisted living community operated by national seniors housing company Meridian Senior Living (Meridian), received the company’s first COVID-19 vaccines. This monumental event marks the beginning of Meridian’s journey in vaccinating residents and employees at their more than 75 communities across the United States.

Villas of Holly Brook Marshall partnered with CVS Pharmacy and Clark County Health Department to distribute and administer the COVID-19 vaccine for healthcare workers. In Martinsville, IL, the Clark County Health Department offered the vaccination clinic between 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. on December 23, 2020. Several staff members from Villas of Holly Brook Marshall received the first of two vaccines, demonstrating their ongoing commitment to providing a safe environment for their residents.

As part of the U.S. Government’s Pharmacy Partnership for Long-Term Care Program, residents and staff members at long-term care communities will have access to the vaccine over the upcoming weeks in the first phase of distribution. Access to the COVID-19 vaccine will add one more preventative measure to Meridian’s commitment to the safety and well-being of residents and employees in its communities.

“Our partnership with CVS, Walgreens, local pharmacies, and local health departments is a crucial preventative tool to include in our infection control protocols,” says Kacy Kang, President and Chief Operating Officer of Meridian Senior Living. “This is an extension of our ongoing commitment to keep our communities as safe as possible, while reducing the risk of concerns that arise from long intervals of isolation, both with our residents and seniors in the towns and cities in which we operate.”

“We are thrilled for our residents and employees to have access to the COVID-19 vaccine in the first tier group,” says Kevin Carlin, Principal and Chief Sales Officer of Meridian Senior Living. “We enjoy seeing the expressions of relief on the faces of the residents and staff as the vaccinations are administered.”

Omoidasu have released the new version 2.0 of Tadayou, the meditation app on Dec, 2020. A function to visualize breath by swiping the screen is newly added.

Tadayou is a mobile application to support meditation and mindfulness, featured by the focus on the app functions instead of audio contents. It’s said that humans have over 6,000 thoughts in average every day (1). Our brain is always working, it never stops. Tadayou utilizes the features of smartphone to support users using visions, music, and operation to create moments without thinking of anything.

In the new version (2.0), a function to visualize breath by swiping the screen is newly added. Simply swipe the screen vertically in the rhythm of your breath in your meditation session and see the contractions of the circles and change of the background.

It’s important to focus on breathing in meditation, while it’s not such easy to focus only on breathing. By visualizing your breath on the screen, it’s easier to beware your own breath. Let’s have a try.

nView Expands Digital Behavioral Health Solutions to Support Healthcare Providers

The status quo of mental health screening tools that our public healthcare systems utilize today is failing both our patients and our healthcare providers.

nView Health, a behavioral health solutions company, announced today record revenue growth and geographic expansion in 2020, as more healthcare providers adopt digital assessment tools to address the growing demand for better access to skilled mental health and substance abuse support services.

“This year was an important milestone for the company,” said Jim Szyperski, CEO of nView Health. “We were able to draw upon our years of product experience serving the clinical and academic research sectors to pivot our clinically tried and tested solutions into clinical practice and primary care to help our healthcare professionals meet an overwhelming demand for mental health treatment.”

nView digital behavioral health screeners, diagnostic interviews, and patient outcome monitors are now helping our frontline clinicians more accurately screen their patient populations for mental health and substance abuse disorders. The company’s exclusive core products include the Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview (M.I.N.I.), which has been cited in thousands of publications; the YBOCS and CYBOCS, which are the leading scales for Obsessive Compulsive Disorders (OCD); and a series of other evidence-based measurement scales that the company continues to develop.

Szyperski continues, “The mental health crisis today is possibly the biggest threat to our generation. The status quo of mental health screening tools that our public healthcare systems utilize today is failing both our patients and our healthcare providers. It is our great privilege to help these professionals better identify, more accurately diagnose and more efficiently monitor patients with behavioral health disorders.”

To support continued growth in the healthcare market, the company also announced today the appointment of two veteran sales leaders:

  • Bob Allen is responsible for the development of strategic partnerships with other software and services companies. Bob has been in professional sales leadership throughout his 20+ year career, working with healthcare technology giants like McKesson, Optum and GE Healthcare.
  • Jason Kosiba is responsible for leading the direct sales efforts at nView. He also brings a rich background of healthcare focused roles in companies like HealthStream, CareerBuilder, and Iron Mountain over the last 20+ years.

“We are delighted to have Bob and Jason onboard to lead our sales directives in 2021 and beyond. Their talent, experience and commitment to our mission is such a welcome addition to our nView team,” added Szyperski.

This past year, nView was successful in installing its solutions at multiple children’s hospitals, large health systems and even independent clinics. In addition to our direct relationships with healthcare providers, nView established global distribution partnerships this year with companies like Checkware in Denmark and Stretch SE in Sweden to help support the global demand for more efficient and effective behavioral healthcare. In North America, nView also successfully created distribution partnerships with patient engagement and electronic healthcare record software vendors to expedite fully integrated solutions into the healthcare system.

Dump The “Go with the flow” Philosophy in 2021

Planning ahead for “just in case” situations is less stressful than going with the flow.

Going with the flow in life is not as easy nor as relaxing as it sounds.

Many ‘go-with-the-flow-ers’ are not as carefree and serene as their philosophy implies.

Adversity has often been likened to a choppy, fast-flowing river: Rather than trying to go against the current and battling forces that can’t be changed, it seems more sensible to simply go with the flow, in the hopes that eventually, things will slow down and safer shores will be reached. It’s a sound philosophy, but it may not be as Zen as it appears, according to recent study conducted by PsychTests.com. In fact, people who go with the flow in life are less hardy and less happy than people who plan ahead.

Analyzing data from 12, 259 people who took the Emotional Intelligence Test, PsychTests’ researchers assessed the attitude, personality, and behaviors of people who plan ahead in all aspects of their life (“Planners”) and those who don’t (“Flow-ers”). Here is where they differed the most:

(Note: Scores range on a scale from 0 to 100. Average scores for each group are shown.)

THE DOWNSIDE OF BEING A FLOW-ER

In contrast, life seems to be much more of a struggle for Flow-ers:

  • 20% of Flow-ers don’t learn from their failures (compared to 4% of Planners).
  • 34% are not comfortable making decisions on their own (compared to 16% of Planners).
  • 52% have a hard time coming up with their top three strengths (compared to 24% of Planners).
  • 34% are high-strung (compared to 26% of Planners).
  • 50% are pessimists (compared to 29% of Planners).
  • 50% refuse to get their hopes up because they are afraid of being disappointed (compared to 25% of Planners).
  • 45% indicated that they are terrified of what the future holds (compared to 34% of Planners).
  • 37% feel that their life is just one problem after another (compared to 12% of Planners).

“The past year exposed the world to more than just a virus. It also revealed the general unpreparedness of many governments, and people, to cope with a health crisis and its ensuing fallout,” explains Dr. Jerabek, president of PsychTests. “There is an upside to such circumstances, however: a better understanding of what is required to manage the physical, financial, social, and psychological impact of a pandemic. So while a ‘go-with-the-flow,’ laissez faire attitude can sometimes be helpful in a crisis – acceptance is better than fighting a situation you can’t control – an even better approach would be to strategize in order to find a solution, and plan ahead should the issue arise again. Besides, as our study has revealed, many ‘go-with-the-flow-ers’ are not as carefree and serene as their philosophy implies.”

“For 2021, we suggest that people add three resolutions to their list: 1) to prepare a 5-year plan that details what they want to accomplish personally and/or professionally, 2) to prepare a crisis plan should they face a health or financial predicament, and 3) to develop their coping skills and resilience. This isn’t about panicking or being paranoid, it’s about being proactive, mitigating risks, and helping people adapt to their circumstances with greater ease and less stress. We need to learn from our experiences of the past year – not just the COVID-related ones – and use the wisdom we have gained to plan out a better future.”

Yoga for Executives Who Can’t Touch Their Toes No Incense, No Chanting –– Just 2021 Stress-Relief

Designed for high powered professionals who cannot touch their toes, Executive Yoga offers maximum stress reduction with minimal time investment: less than 12 minutes a day over 8 weeks.

EXECUTIVE YOGA is an 8-week course designed around the schedules of busy executives even if they can’t touch their toes.

“There’s no incense or chanting,” says Edward Vilga “only the most effective stretching, breathing, and stress-reduction. And, as we transition from 2020 to 2021, never before has this been more needed.”

The American Psychological Association reports that with COVID-19 and the economy, more than 7 in 10 Americans are reporting significantly higher stress than in 2019. In fact, according to the National Endowment for Financial Education, in April 2020 nearly 9 in 10 Americans reported feeling stressed about their financial futures. The American Psychological Association even states that “We are facing a national mental health crisis that could yield serious health and social consequences for years to come.”

“There’s so much data that yoga can help with wellness and stress reduction,” says Edward Vilga who has been teaching yoga for over 20 years. “Harvard Medical School published a report in October 2020 saying that ‘the scientific study of yoga demonstrates that mental and physical health are not just closely allied, but are essentially equivalent. The evidence is growing that yoga practice is a relatively low-risk, high-yield approach to improving overall health.’”

Features and benefits of EXECUTIVE YOGA include:

  • Designed for beginners, this program is accessible for almost any fitness level
  • It offers online group lessons with Q&A as well as a weekly 1:1 private lesson
  • Students receive daily reminders of poses to practice
  • The entire program averages only 12 minutes a day.

“Those of us who’ve tried yoga are almost always sold on its benefits. Therefore, I designed this as the perfect gift for the high-powered professional who has everything––except enough time and peace of mind!”

Edward Vilga’s EXECUTIVE YOGA’s first session begins on January 2, 2021. Enrollment is $2497. For more information, visit http://www.ExecutiveYoga.Fit.

About Edward Vilga: Edward Vilga has over 50,000 students in his online courses. He has created 17 bestselling wellness books, DVDs, and courses and has reached #1 on Amazon for both Wellness and New Thought. His work has been translated into over a dozen languages. Ei.Ventures Engage in Equity Crowdfund Raise to Enable Any Investor to Join The Psychedelic Medicine Revolution Early On

Ei.Ventures logo

Ei.Ventures logo

I’ve long tried to figure out ways to enable smaller investors to get in on world-changing trends early, including investing in WeFunder in 2012. Now that the SEC has enabled equity crowdfunding, we are using FundMe to enable my wellness and psychedelic medicine company Ei.Ventures

Ei.Ventures, the latest enterprise to be started by successful Silicon Valley and worldwide entrepreneur and investor David Nikzad, is currently running an equity crowdfund on FundMe to enable any investor to get into the psychedelic medicine revolution at the leading edge of this emerging trend. Early-stage investors are more likely to get in on “unicorns,” a unicorn is a term used in the venture capital industry to describe a privately held startup company with a value of over $1 billion. As a venture capitalist, David has invested in numerous unicorns including Betterment, Talkable, Vidyard, WeFunder, and Airbnb.

David notes, “As I’ve had such investment success with early-stage companies, I’ve long tried to figure out ways to enable smaller investors to get in on world-changing trends early, including investing in WeFunder in 2012. Now that the SEC has enabled equity crowdfunding, we are using FundMe to enable my wellness and psychedelic medicine company Ei.Ventures. I am excited that all levels of investors will be able to get in on the psychedelic medicine revolution at such an early stage, enabling all to potentially see the kinds of gains previously only available to the largest accredited investors.”

The current equity crowdfund raise has exceeded the minimum funding target in just about a week and is currently headed to 200% of the target by January 1, 2021. It is likely the company will extend the raise into 2021 to raise the full amount allowed by the SEC, 1,000,700.

Ei.Ventures is a leading life and plant sciences company focused on bringing botanical psychedelic therapies and medicinal mushroom nutraceuticals to market with a bold mission – to create the new standard of mental wellness. To this end, Ei.Ventures’ botanical psychedelic therapeutics and medicinal mushroom nutraceutical solutions are designed to radically shift mental wellness treatment protocols.

EI.Ventures are focused on developing botanical active pharmaceutical ingredients for the psychedelic supply chain, novel psychedelic compounds for various indications, unique delivery mechanisms and treatment protocols, and medicinal mushroom nutraceuticals for improving well-being and health.

Ultimately, EI.Ventures intend to create a revolution when it comes to mental health and wellness. The aim is to open the pathway to the billion+ people worldwide who need to receive these life-changing treatments and natural solutions.

Some of the exciting work Ei.Ventures are doing to create the new standard of wellness include:

  • Developing the ‘Psychedelic Farmers Market’, as the first link in the psychedelic therapeutics supply chain
  • Control of intellectual property for three botanical novel psychedelic formulations. Psilly™, MY-D™, MY-MDMA™
  • A Canadian contract research organization and lab partnerships for the development of psychedelic active pharmaceutical ingredients and novel compounds like Psilly™
  • Developing mental wellness and health app partnerships for launch in 2021
  • Launching MANA™ medicinal mushroom nutraceuticals in Q1 of 2021 into a $15 billion a year market

The market opportunity for Ei.Ventures are enormous as:

  • 322 million people suffer from depression worldwide
  • 300 million people suffer from PTSD worldwide
  • 164 million people suffer from substance abuse worldwide
  • 1 in 5 American adults suffer from a form of mental illness
  • $1 trillion is the estimated cost of depression to the global economy
  • $6 trillion is the estimated cost of mental health conditions in 2030
  • 115 people die every day from opioid abuse

One issue that Ei.Ventures help solve is “the treatment gap” which has huge economic implications. For one, the larger pharmaceutical companies have all but walked away from researching and developing new treatments for mental health disorders. Drugs like Prozac were once hailed as “wonder drugs” when they first came to market. Now, after 30 years of use, their efficacy is in doubt. Needless to say, the world is in desperate need of next-generation revolutionary treatments focused on solving the growing mental health problem.

A second issue is synthetics vs. botanicals. Synthetic molecules and compounds created in pharmaceutical laboratories tend to be chemically pure, crystalline products. They can create highly potent and targeted effects, but the consequences of these effects are often poorly understood by medical science. Modern psychiatric drugs are among the least understood drugs on the market. With decades of study, we still don’t fully understand how many of these drugs work. Many patients experience little improvement and unfortunate side effects like weight gain, sexual dysfunction, and personality muting.

By contrast, in some applications, the use of naturally derived compounds offers distinct advantages. In some cases, naturally derived medicines – particularly those with psychoactive properties – have evolved alongside their use in humans, being selected over the course of generations to provide health benefits to the user.

Rather than isolating or synthesizing a single molecule or a simple compound, any formulation Ei.Ventures develops will start with a standardized and well-characterized natural product, manufactured and formulated to be consistent and reproducible from crop to crop and batch to batch. Our proprietary extraction process preserves the unique complex constituency of a natural product producing a broad spectrum entheogenic extract that can be combined with other complementary ingredients in our formulations enhancing positive pharmacological effects. This synergistic formulation can potentially create medicinal effects that are simultaneously more efficacious and more well tolerated with fewer side effects than many synthetic crystalline compounds prescribed today.

Our unique extraction, formulation, and clinical development process are what separates Ei.Ventures from our synthetic competitors. By working with naturally derived ingredients, our formulations are able to leverage synergies between primary active ingredients and other essential constituents which contribute an overall effect that is “greater than the sum of its parts.” This extraction and formulation process integrates an innovative blend of organic and biochemistry. The end goal is to create superior and much more cost-effective ways to produce both psychoactive and nutraceutical medicinal formulations.

Psychedelic medicine is the next frontier in the treatment of mental health disorders.

Ei.Ventures plan is to address the treatment gap left by Big Pharma and create botanical psychedelic therapeutics which we define as non-synthetic derived from the whole mushroom fungi and non-psychedelic nutraceutical formulations. This positions EI.Ventures as the leader in lowering mental healthcare costs globally, while providing patients with a long-term mental health solution. It also positions EI.Ventures as a leader in the emerging psychoactive treatment space. Our compounds and solutions may even save lives. A resurgence of interest in psychedelic treatments for mental health disorders is paving the way for the third generation of pharmaceutical treatments.

The case for investing in psychedelic research and development for the treatment of mental health disorders is growing. In October of 2018, the FDA gave Psilocybin the coveted ‘Breakthrough Therapy’ designation stating that, “Preliminary clinical evidence indicates the drug may demonstrate substantial improvement over existing therapies to treat a serious or life-threatening disease or condition.”

At Ei.Ventures, we believe natural psychedelic therapeutics and botanical nootropics, and nutraceuticals are this solution.

Deal highlights for Ei.Ventures FundMe include:

  • Offering Type: Regulation CF
  • Minimum Investment: $1,000
  • Issuer: EI.Ventures, Inc.
  • Issue Type: SAFE
  • Jurisdiction: USA
  • Valuation Cap: $111 million

As the holidays approach, Texans are highly concerned about mental health issues as a result of COVID-19, but one college organization is working to do something about it. The College Health Alliance of Texas (CHAT) is launching a partnership with Grant Halliburton Foundation and the Okay to Say™ mental health public awareness campaign to bring resources to college students who may face mental health struggles over the holidays.

CHAT has partnered with Grant Halliburton Foundation to expand and reinforce the organization’s Here for Texas Mental Health Navigation Line. Through the partnership, the Navigation Line is now open to college students statewide, with special holiday hours to accommodate the needs of college students on winter break.

The Here For Texas Mental Health Navigation Line is a free helpline offering guidance, information, resources, and support for mental health and addiction. Callers are connected to a trained mental health navigator who can offer support and information about services and resources in their area. These are trained volunteers who gather pertinent information from the caller regarding their needs. Then, they will forward the information to an experienced mental health professional who will help to identify specific resources tailored to the caller’s needs.

The Here for Texas Mental Health Navigation Line is open during the holidays. If you need help, give the free helpline a call at 972-525-8181.

Texans recognize the mental health risks associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. A statewide survey commissioned by CHAT and conducted by Crosswind Media and Public Relations finds 78% percent of Texans are concerned about the mental health consequences associated with the COVID-19 pandemic such as depression and increases in suicide. Workit Health Raises $12 Million Series B Financing to Meet Surging Demand for Telemedicine Substance Use Disorder Treatment

It’s easier than ever before to take the first step towards recovery, and we’re excited to use this round of funding to bring our holistic and evidence-based care to more Americans.

Workit Health, a virtual substance use disorder provider bringing evidence-based telemedicine care to individuals, healthcare organizations, and employers, today announced a $12 million round of investment led by FirstMark Capital. The round included participation by Lux Capital, GingerBread Capital, Blue Cross and Blue Shield Venture Partners and actor Rob Lowe, who is a prominent advocate for recovery and mental health.

“The demand for telemedicine care accelerated with COVID-19, but providing quality addiction treatment to people in the privacy of their home has been our priority at Workit Health since day one,” said Robin McIntosh, Workit Health’s Co-Founder and Co-CEO. “With Workit Health, it’s easier than ever before to take the first step towards recovery, and we’re excited to use this round of funding to bring our holistic and evidence-based care to more Americans.”

SAMHSA estimates that only 1 in 10 people struggling with substance use disorder receive the care they need. Workit Health’s web and phone apps combine evidence-based therapy with medication management from a clinical care team, resulting in outcomes that far exceed those of traditional treatment programs. Workit’s personalized and nonjudgmental programs are accessible to people at all stages of addiction recovery.

“Robin and Lisa’s commitment to Workit Health’s success goes beyond what is typically described as mission-driven. It’s deeply personal. They both experienced the challenges associated with recovery in the US and are uniquely positioned to create a program to address the issues that many people face when struggling with addiction,” said Beth Ferreira, General Partner at FirstMark Capital. “Robin and Lisa understand the journey and what it takes to build the necessary trust with their participants. We are excited to lead this Series B investment and help them realize their vision for democratizing access to addiction treatment for all.”

“We’re thrilled to be working with the FirstMark Capital team to change the way people receive addiction care. Our mission is to simplify treatment, but also to offer an improved experience,” said Lisa McLaughlin, Workit Health’s Co-Founder and Co-CEO. “We’re looking forward to working with Rob Lowe to raise awareness about the issue of addiction and help the country understand that expert support is just a click away.”

Robin McIntosh and Lisa McLaughlin experienced America’s broken addiction treatment system firsthand, meeting in recovery over a decade ago. They brought together technologists, clinicians, and counselors to build a digital recovery program that would be accessible from anywhere. Since 2015, the company has rapidly expanded to over 150 employees with medically-assisted treatment available in five states and therapy available nationwide.
