Dermatologist-Created Skin Care Line, Skin Resource.MD, Optimizes Two Best-Selling Facial Products

News Image

Skin Resource MD’s Tea Tree Deep Clearing Cleanser and Baobab Skin Correction Facial Cream, both dermatologist-formulated

It is important to us to continually update and optimize our products based on the current science and practice of dermatology to provide our patients and customers the best products at the best price.

Skin Resource.MD, a therapeutic line of skincare products created by board-certified dermatologists and based out of San Diego, California, announced the optimization of two best-selling facial products, the reformulation and repackaging of Tea Tree Deep Clearing Cleanser (formerly Pore-Clearing Cleanser) and the resizing of the fan-favorite, Baobab Skin Correction Facial Cream after supplies were completely depleted. The baobab correction cream is now offered in environmentally-friendly packaging, and contains more ounces of product for the same price. Both products were formulated by practicing dermatologists.

The improved Tea Tree Deep Clearing Cleanser utilizes the same natural compounds, but with increased concentrations to optimize product effectiveness. These ingredients include tea tree oil and willow bark, the natural source of salicylic acid, to clean deep within pores and reduce inflammation. The optimized formula also includes an increased concentration of peppermint oil, to soothe and cleanse the skin, and sage leaf extract. Sage leaf extract contains Vitamin A and calcium which fight free radicals while preventing inflammation.

Tea Tree Deep Clearing Cleanser comes in an 8.45 fl oz bottle for $20 and can be purchased at SkinResouceMD.com.

The Baobab Skin Correction Facial Cream is the first facial correction cream utilizing the oil pressed from the baobab seed as the key ingredient and has returned to the shelves in environmentally-friendly packaging after a three-month wait. The move to repackage the best-selling correction cream occurred after the product sold out entirely and is an effort to reduce the overall environmental footprint of the product.

The baobab oil used in the skin cream contains high concentrations of Vitamins A, D, E, and F and fatty acids which are known for their ability to rejuvenate the skin, lessen the signs of aging, brighten skin, and help reverse sun damage. Baobab Skin Correction Facial Cream also addresses multiple specialty skin issues, including melasma, uneven skin tone, acne scars, and eczema.

The new Baobab Skin Correction Facial Cream contains 2.5 fl oz, .8 fl oz more than its predecessor, and will be offered at the same price of $49. It is recommended to be used twice per day and is for sale online at SkinResourceMD.com.

A portion of these sales supports vulnerable communities via the International Medical Corps, who is providing expertise, equipment, training and triage services in response to COVID-19 all over the world.

“Skin Resource.MD started because we wanted to democratize excellent skincare,” said Paul B. Dean, M.D., M.P.H., F.A.A.D., founder of Skin ResourceMD. “It is important to us to continually update and optimize our products based on the current science and practice of dermatology to provide our patients and customers the best products at the best price.”

Both products were co-created by Christopher V. Crosby, M.D., Ph.D., F.A.A.D., and Paul B. Dean, M.D., M.P.H., F.A.A.D., in order to provide effective and gentle products with high antioxidants to the skin care regimen for their patients at the Grossmont Dermatology Medical Clinic in San Diego. Both products can be used together to combat oily skin, blemishes and acne scars. Like all Skin Resource.MD products, the correction facial cream and cleanser are fragrance-free and have had no animal testing.

These new products supplement the brand’s selection of therapeutic skincare products that include moisturizers, cleansers, serums, sunscreens and exfoliants. The brand also offers products specifically formulated for particular conditions as well as kits intended for use following medical procedures.

NeoTract Designates Dr. Andrew Wright as UroLift® Center of Excellence

News Image

“This designation recognizes Dr. Andrew Wright as a UroLift Center of Excellence for his commitment to providing safe and effective treatment to patients with BPH,” said Dave Amerson

NeoTract, a wholly owned subsidiary of Teleflex Incorporated (NYSE:TFX) focused on addressing unmet needs in the field of urology, today announced that Andrew Wright, M.D., Urological Associates of Southern AZ, PC in Tucson, AZ, has been designated as a UroLift® Center of Excellence. The designation recognizes that Dr. Wright has achieved a high level of training and experience with the UroLift® System and demonstrated a commitment to exemplary care for men suffering from symptoms associated with Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), also known as enlarged prostate.

Recommended for the treatment of BPH in both the American Urological Association and European Association of Urology clinical guidelines, the FDA-cleared Prostatic Urethral Lift procedure using the UroLift System is a proven, minimally invasive technology for treating lower urinary tract symptoms due to BPH. The UroLift permanent implants, delivered during a transurethral outpatient procedure, relieve prostate obstruction and open the urethra directly without cutting, heating, or removing prostate tissue.

The UroLift Center of Excellence program is designed to highlight urologists who are committed to educating their patients on BPH and the UroLift System as a treatment option and consistently seek to deliver excellent patient outcomes and experiences.

“This designation recognizes Dr. Andrew Wright as a UroLift Center of Excellence for his commitment to providing safe and effective treatment to patients with BPH,” said Dave Amerson, president of the Teleflex Interventional Urology business unit. “We are pleased to see the continued acceptance of the UroLift System as a standard of care treatment that may allow men to discontinue the use of BPH medications and improve their quality of life.”

Over 40 million men in the United States are affected by BPH, a condition that occurs when the prostate gland that surrounds the male urethra becomes enlarged with advancing age and begins to obstruct the urinary system. Symptoms of BPH often include interrupted sleep and urinary problems and can cause loss of productivity, depression and decreased quality of life.

Medication is often the first-line therapy for enlarged prostate, but relief can be inadequate and temporary. Side effects of medication treatment can include sexual dysfunction, dizziness and headaches, prompting many patients to quit using the drugs. For these patients, the classic alternative is surgery that cuts, heats or removes prostate tissue to open the blocked urethra. While current surgical options can be very effective in relieving symptoms, they can also leave patients with permanent side effects such as urinary incontinence, erectile dysfunction, and retrograde ejaculation.

About the UroLift® System

The FDA-cleared UroLift System is a proven, minimally invasive technology for treating lower urinary tract symptoms due to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). The UroLift permanent implants, delivered during a minimally invasive transurethral outpatient procedure, relieve prostate obstruction and open the urethra directly without cutting, heating, or removing prostate tissue. Clinical data from a pivotal 206-patient randomized controlled study showed that patients with enlarged prostate receiving UroLift implants reported rapid and durable symptomatic and urinary flow rate improvement without compromising sexual function*1,2. Patients also experienced a significant improvement in quality of life. Over 100,000 men have been treated with the UroLift System in the U.S. Most common adverse events reported include hematuria, dysuria, micturition urgency, pelvic pain, and urge incontinence. Most symptoms were mild to moderate in severity and resolved within two to four weeks after the procedure. The Prostatic Urethral Lift procedure using the UroLift System is recommended for the treatment of BPH in both the American Urological Association and European Association of Urology clinical guidelines. The UroLift System is available in the U.S., Europe, Australia, Canada, Mexico and South Korea. Learn more at http://www.UroLift.com.

Wartburg Works With Voice Technology Startup Soundmind to Help Ease Effects of Isolation Among Residents During COVID-19 Crisis

Amid the unprecedented restrictions placed on senior living facilities due to COVID-19, Wartburg, a premiere senior residential provider in lower Westchester County, New York, has found a way to help ease feelings of loneliness and isolation among their residents. They’ve employed a unique virtual concierge system that utilizes voice technology to keep seniors informed, engaged, and connected to their families.

Developed by the New York City startup Soundmind, the system allows Wartburg staff to deliver up-to-date information about the community through a securely managed network of Amazon Alexa devices. Since being integrated into Wartburg’s nine independent living cottages in February, residents have used the platform on a daily basis to get updates on community events, hear daily meal menus, play games and listen to music, and place requests with staff — simply by using their voice.

Residents can also call family and friends with ease, which is essential at a time when visitation has been prohibited and group activities have been curtailed due to social distancing mandates. “This is a transformative moment, and there will be a new normal,” says David Gentner, Wartburg President and CEO. “Our challenge is to help make the transformation a positive one for families and loved ones of seniors who need to feel connected and remain engaged. It is a pleasure to work with the Soundmind team on their virtual concierge system.”

Erum Azeez, co-founder and CEO of Soundmind, is pleased to see this technology help senior living facilities weather the coronavirus storm. “During these difficult times, organizations are turning to new innovations to overcome challenges,” she says. “We are very proud to work with Wartburg to introduce an easy-to-use technology that greatly enhances daily life for both residents and staff.”

To learn more about how Soundmind is helping senior living facilities and their residents through the COVID-19 crisis, visit their website or book an informational call today.

Wartburg, located in Westchester County, NY, offers integrated, comprehensive senior residential and healthcare services. Unlike conventional retirement communities, Wartburg provides a wide range of services to both residents living on their beautiful 34-acre campus and people in their own homes. From independent, assisted living and award-winning nursing home care to inpatient/outpatient rehabilitation, home care and adult day care services, their continuing care approach has earned them a trusted reputation. Wartburg also provides caregiver support at every stage with an array of options to find the level of care that considers the whole family. Wartburg was named one of the “Best Nursing Homes in New York State” by U.S. News & World Report for the ninth consecutive year in 2019.

NY Health Care Workers and Others Exposed to COVID-19 Can Now Choose Standby Guardians for Their Children in Cuomo Executive Order

Health care workers and volunteers in New York State exposed to the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) can now designate a standby guardian for their children according to an Executive Order signed by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. A team from the Albany office of Greenberg Traurig, LLP, working pro bono with the New York Legal Assistance Group (NYLAG), helped draft language for the order. The order would also allow others exposed to COVID-19 to designate a standby guardian.

Executive Order No. 202.14, in part, expands the scope of the New York Surrogate’s Court Procedure Act (S.C.P.A.) § 1726. Signed by Cuomo on April 7, the order modifies sections of the Act to provide that any parent, a legal guardian, a legal custodian, or primary caretaker who works or volunteers in a health care facility or who reasonably believes that they may otherwise be exposed to COVID-19, may designate a standby guardian by means of a written designation.

“The well-being of healthcare workers and anyone exposed to COVID-19 is paramount right now. We hope this change will give them some peace of mind when it comes to the care of their children. We are very grateful to Governor Cuomo for issuing this Executive Order and to everyone who played a role in extending the act to cover those most at risk in our state,” said Randye Retkin, Director of NYLAG’s LegalHealth Division. “This is an unprecedented time and we were able to move swiftly to do the right thing. We also thank Greenberg Traurig’s team in Albany for understanding how important this is for New York’s frontline healthcare workers and other New Yorkers exposed to the virus, and for making this a priority.”

“We applaud Governor Cuomo for providing New York’s health care workers with a critical tool to plan for their families. We hope this gives those who are on the front lines of the State’s COVID-19 response some peace of mind,” said Lynelle K. Bosworth, a Shareholder in Greenberg Traurig’s Albany office.

“The extension of the protections under S.C.P.A. § 1726 was critical, particularly given that courts are closed. Greenberg Traurig has a long tradition of stepping up to help communities in need, and we were honored to continue our pro bono work with NYLAG to accomplish this,” said Mark F. Glaser, a Shareholder in Greenberg Traurig’s Albany office.

The act was first passed in 1992 at the height of the AIDS crisis to help sick parents plan for their children’s futures and initiate the immediate transfer of temporary guardianship powers to someone the parent trusts, until a more permanent arrangement and hearing could be put in place, according to NYLAG. In 2018, Greenberg Traurig worked with NYLAG to help pass the legislation that would allow parents who are at risk of detainment or deportation based on immigration status to designate a standby guardian to care for their children in the event the parent is detained or deported. Until then, the Act limited the ability of parents to appoint or designate a Standby Guardian to seriously ill individuals. This Executive Order is an important extension of these protections.

“GT attorneys are rising to the occasion to serve their communities during this crisis,” said Caroline J. Heller, Greenberg Traurig Litigation Shareholder and Chair of the firm’s global Pro Bono Program. “We are proud of our continued pro bono work with NYLAG in support of its mission to provide legal services to low-income New Yorkers and of the impact our combined teams are making.”

About New York Legal Assistance Group (NYLAG): Founded in 1990, NYLAG provides free legal services, financial counseling, and engages in policy advocacy to help people experiencing poverty or those with low-income. NYLAG assists immigrants, victims of domestic violence, children, seniors, and chronically ill and disabled patients with a wide range of legal issues. NYLAG’s LegalHealth division focuses its practice mainly on assisting ill and disabled patients through its legal clinics in more than 25 hospitals across the city. LegalHealth frequently assists parents in naming Standby Guardians for their children.

About Greenberg Traurig’s Pro Bono Program: Greenberg Traurig lawyers across the firm provide pro bono legal services to the indigent and working poor, as well as to numerous civic and charitable organizations dedicated to assisting them. The firm focuses its resources on specialized and interrelated issues including civil rights and affirmative action, anti-human trafficking, family law matters, criminal appeals, immigration and political asylum, housing, and homelessness.

About Greenberg Traurig, LLP: Greenberg Traurig, LLP (GT) has approximately 2200 attorneys in 41 locations in the United States, Latin America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. GT has been recognized for its philanthropic giving, diversity, and innovation, and is consistently among the largest firms in the U.S. on the Law360 400 and among the Top 20 on the Am Law Global 100. HealthAlerts.io Launched to Map COVID-19 Testing Locations and Combat the Coronavirus

HealthAlerts.io Combats COVID-19 Virus

Hot Tomali Communications and AmericanEHR have launched a website to help users find COVID-19 testing sites across the US and Canada. Complete with searchable maps and filters, the website is powered with a set of verified COVID-19 testing locations that have been identified by a growing team of volunteers. Testing location managers can add and/or claim their profile in order to update users on availability, hours, and criteria for COVID-19 testing. The website can be found at HealthAlerts.io.

Health Alerts COVID-19 Testing allows users to submit new testing locations and real time updates through reviews and pictures as a means to crowdsource rapidly changing test site information.

Further, HealthAlerts.io connects users to self-assessment tools based on their geographic location. Self-assessments are generally the first step in determining a person’s eligibility for testing. For example some test sites require patients to make an appointment, have a physician referral, or be a member of a particular health organization in order to qualify for a COVID-19 test.

Ensuring users have access to the most trusted COVID-19 information is critically important. To achieve this HealthAlerts.io also provides real-time health alert bulletins from CDC, HHS, FDA, WHO, Health Canada, HealthLinkBC, and ECDC.

No personal data is required for users to access the Health Alerts COVID-19 Testing tool. To submit reviews or to claim and manage COVID-19 test locations, users have the option to create an account.

Accompanying apps for iOS and Android will be available for download in the Apple App Store and on Google Play shortly.

“In light of the COVID-19 pandemic we made the call three weeks ago to build a tool to help fight this virus (our self-imposed version of the Defence Production Act)” says Thomas Stringham, Founder & CEO of Hot Tomali and AmericanEHR. “We leveraged technology from previous projects (Pooch.pet and AmericanEHR Health Alerts) which allowed us to develop a solution really rapidly. This tool can help reduce the burden on frontline healthcare workers. This is how we flatten the curve”

Testing broadly is highly critical to be able to identify and isolate people with the COVID-19 Coronavirus. Serological tests have been developed to identify COVID-19 antibodies—this can allow people displaying immunity to return to work or reduce the social and economic lockdown restrictions that are hampering the global economy.

RNK Ramps up Production of Telemedicine Stethoscopes to Meet COVID-19 Demand

RNK Products, Inc., a leader in telemedicine stethoscopes, is now at the forefront of the fight against COVID-19.

For almost eighteen years, RNK’s telemedicine stethoscopes have been used in top hospitals across the world, as well as in the VA to extend health services to our veterans and even used in the White House and on Air Force One.

Because COVID-19 is a respiratory disease, a video call (e.g. Skype or FaceTime) between clinician and patient isn’t enough. A stethoscope is critical for listening to lung sounds. Aware of this shortcoming, telemedicine companies are rushing to include stethoscopes with their systems.

In order to meet the demand created by COVID-19, RNK has significantly ramped up production.“Our supply chain is intact and we have increased human capital” says CEO and Founder C. Rich Abbruscato, “Whether this is a short-term bubble or a long-term shift in demand for telemedicine stethoscopes, we are prepared.”

RNK’s most popular model, the PCP-USB stethoscope uses a chest piece that includes an embedded amplifier plus an A/D Converter, Encoder, Formatter and USB interface that is recognized as a plug-n-play audio device. “It just works” is a phrase Abbruscato hears all the time. RNK’s stethoscopes are easy to use, don’t require batteries, don’t require pairing and have no buttons on them. They are simple for patients to use on themselves with guidance from a clinician.

Having FDA, ISO 13485 and EU MDD certifications, RNK operates globally and is seeing demand not only from the US, but throughout Europe and beyond.

About RNK Products, Inc.:

Founded in 2003, RNK Products, Inc. specializes in electronic and telemedicine stethoscopes, under both its own label Telehealth Technologies, and under private labels used by its Value-Added Resellers. RNK offers a range of stethoscopes to fit any institutional or home telemedicine program. https://rnkproducts.com

Center for Cosmetic Surgery Donates Gloves, Masks to Local Colorado Hospital

It was the right thing to do as a way of thanking those healthcare workers on the front line caring for COVID-19 patients.

“We felt morally bound to donate during these tough times,” states Dr. Andrew Wolfe of the Center for Cosmetic Surgery. His practice, co-owned by Dr. Steven Vath and Dr. Paul Steinwald recently donated PPE (personal protective equipment) to be used in the hospital. The donation, which consisted of gloves and surgical masks, was given directly to Dr. Brian Wickham, of Physician Anesthesia Services (PAS). PAS partners with Center for Cosmetic Surgery to provide anesthesia at their Golden, CO surgical facility.

In an email to the Center, Dr. Wickham writes, “I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to your team for providing the supplies to protect PAS and our patients. The bountiful load of 1200 surgical masks and 1800 gloves went into immediate use.
