  • The Top 100 Vertical Market MSPs now manage more than 2.8 million users across their customer sites in 2019, up from 2.6 million in 2018.
  • MSPs consider their top vertical market technology partners to be Microsoft (56%), Dell Technologies (22%), Cisco Systems (21%), Datto (19%), ConnectWise (11%) and Ingram Micro (11%).

Wealth-X Bolsters U.S. Dataset on the Wealthy

Wealth-X, the leader in applied wealth intelligence, has announced another significant expansion of the company’s proprietary global database today, creating and/or updating over 12,000 records of wealthy individuals across the United States.

In an effort led by Wealth-X’s Data Strategy team, these new data assets uncover individuals who are either very high net worth (VHNW, $5 – $30 million) or ultra high net worth (UHNW, $30 million+) by mining previously untapped data sources, including:

California Public Employee Compensation Records

  • 2,580 new VHNW records created
  • 1,763 pre-existing Wealth-X records updated

While the vast majority of public employees in California do not meet the wealth threshold to be considered VHNW ($5 – $30 million) or more, certain roles like state university presidents, athletic coaches, professors in fields such as medicine and finance, senior leadership of large municipal services and others qualify as VHNW based on compensation received from the state of California during the period 2013-2018. In total, $9 billion of compensation data was incorporated into the Wealth-X database as well as new data points in the Career History, Business Contact Address and Wealth Analysis sections of each record.

Retired Major League Baseball (MLB) Players

  • 315 new UHNW records created
  • 1,116 new VHNW records created
  • 650 pre-existing Wealth-X records updated

Wealth-X integrated the compensation histories of 2,081 retired MLB baseball players which resulted in a total of $43.6 billion. Data points were added to several sections of each new profile including Interests Passions & Hobbies, Business Contact Information, Education, Service Providers, and Wealth Analysis. After incorporating the new baseball compensation data, over 100 pre-existing records were re-classified from VHNW to UHNW, to provide an even more accurate baseline net worth estimate.

Pharmaceutical/Medical Device Payments

  • 2,325 new VHNW records created
  • 3,700 pre-existing records updated

Through public financial disclosure data on payments by pharmaceutical and medical device companies to US doctors, Wealth-X created 2,325 new VHNW records on doctors who earned more than $2 million from pharmaceutical/medical device payments/royalties between 2013 and 2018. In addition, the net worth estimates of pre-existing Wealth-X profiles of doctors who matched to this dataset were recalculated, with new data points added to several sections of the record including Residences, Business Contact Address, and Career History. Records that had disclosed shareholdings in public and private pharmaceutical/medical device companies also had that information added to their Wealth Analysis.

This data expansion is the most recent in a series of significant additions to Wealth-X’s global proprietary database. Since August 2019 alone, Wealth-X has added over 400,000 new records of wealthy individuals from around the world including mainland China, Latin America, Western Europe and Russia, to name a few.

The Wealth-X Data Strategy team is currently working on similar projects for retired NBA and NFL players, as well as a considerable expansion to our Canadian data assets.

The Wealth-X Database is the world’s largest contextual dataset of records on wealthy individuals available today, focusing on the VHNW and UHNW wealth tiers. This unique data empowers organizations in the financial services, luxury, not-for-profit and higher education sectors to better understand, engage and do business with wealthy clients and donors.

The Radiosurgery Society® Announces the Newest Members of its RSS Sponsorship Alliance

News Image

By bringing together individuals, institutions, organizations and the systems’ developers, we’re able to create an intellectually, scientifically and technologically rich environment for collaboration.

The Radiosurgery Society (RSS), a non-profit medical society dedicated to advancing the science and clinical practice of radiosurgery, today announced that NYU Langone Hospitals and The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center have joined the organization’s growing membership in its RSS Sponsorship Alliance, along with the Hermitage Medical Clinic in Dublin, Ireland, marking the first international medical center to join the alliance.

As the professional organization for industry standards, scientific methods and clinical advancements in stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) and stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), the RSS welcomes sponsoring organizations as partners. The RSS Sponsorship Alliance champions the evolution of science and research clinical practices, patient safety and efficacy, technological innovations and global adoption of SRS/SBRT techniques. Sponsors join the ranks of highly respected institutions, organizations, societies and corporations to support successful advancements in the field.

“By bringing together individuals, institutions, organizations and the systems’ developers, we’re able to create an intellectually, scientifically and technologically rich environment for collaboration. We firmly believe active collaboration is critical to advance the treatment techniques, patient care, safety standards, and the exchange of innovative ideas and experience,” said Kristine Gagliardi, RSS Founding Partner and Head of Strategic Development and Business Relations.

Through the RSS Sponsorship Alliance these members receive opportunities for collaboration and research through participation in the RSSearch® Patient Registry and Clinical Research Committee, along with access to educational resources and online communities. The RSS offers opportunities for Continuing Education for their institution, such as live and recorded webinars, clinical/advisory committees, RSS Residents Program and mentoring opportunities.

“Perlmutter Cancer Center at NYU Langone Health was an early adopter of SBRT, recognizing the important role it could play in improving patient care and helping to pave the way for its broader adoption. We are proud to become a member of the RSS Sponsorship Alliance and look forward to additional opportunities to collaborate, share knowledge and information, and advance the science and practice of SRS and SBRT,” said Alec Kimmelman, MD, PhD., Anita and Joseph Steckler Professor and Chair Department of Radiation Oncology, Perlmutter Cancer Center and Jonathan A. Haas, M.D., Chairman, Perlmutter Cancer Center Radiation Oncology at NYU Winthrop Hospital and Associate Professor of Radiation Oncology at NYU Long Island School of Medicine.

“On behalf of Hermitage Medical Clinic, we are very excited to become the first internationally based Medical Center Sponsor of the RSS. This partnership allows us access into a wide body of international experts in the field of SRS where potentially difficult cases can be discussed prior to treatment. We are keen to contribute to the RSSearch® Patient Registry and collaborate with others to facilitate research papers specific to SRS. The RSS partnership provides us the best possible access to experts in the field of SRS/SBRT,” said Daniel Rawluk, M.D.

Picis Announces Release of PriorityQ, Proactive Prioritization Planning for Surgical Scheduling

PriorityQ by Picis

PriorityQ by Picis

“The benefit to healthcare providers is PriorityQ goes beyond a patient prioritization score. The real value of the solution is that it uses the “score” in conjunction with the hospital’s particular parameters to generate a forward looking schedule.” -Marcus Perez, EVP

Picis announces the release of PriorityQ, a web-based solution designed to assist healthcare providers in managing surgical backlogs and waitlists through proactive prioritization planning.

As a result of the current global pandemic, clinicians have been forced to suspend non-urgent, elective procedures to protect resources to combat the surge of life-threatening COVID-19 cases.

Marcus Perez, Executive Vice President of Picis states, “As existing surgical backlogs continue to grow exponentially and facilities begin to resume elective surgeries, a daily process of meeting as a committee to manually review a triage list of patients is simply not scalable or efficient when so many patients are in need of care.”

As experts in surgical scheduling, Picis introduces PriorityQ to help administrators coordinate the surgical schedule based on aggregated data. Incorporating hospital thresholds, patient severity level, OR time and resources, PriorityQ collects multiple data points to determine a patient “score” and delivers a priority of surgical procedures over the coming weeks and/or months. For organizations that already have a prioritization scoring system, PriorityQ will import this information and include it in the factored results. This information empowers administrators with the ability to plan how to manage the queue, separate surgeries by service, while producing financials to show potential revenue generated based on the suggested schedule.

“The benefit to healthcare providers is PriorityQ goes beyond a patient prioritization score. The real value of the solution is that it uses the “score” in conjunction with the hospital’s particular parameters to generate a forward looking schedule. Simply put, it’s load planning. The key is providing each facility the flexibility to modify the schedule once scores are delivered and the ability to plan in advance how to manage the queue.” said Perez.

PriorityQ will be ready for implementation the week of May 4, 2020. To learn more, visit our website http://www.picis.com.

NeoTract Designates Dr. Jay Page as UroLift® Center of Excellence

News Image

“This designation recognizes Dr. Jay Page as a UroLift Center of Excellence for his commitment to providing safe and effective treatment to patients with BPH,” said Dave Amerson

NeoTract, a wholly owned subsidiary of Teleflex Incorporated (NYSE:TFX) focused on addressing unmet needs in the field of urology, today announced that Jay Page, M.D., Arizona Institute of Urology in Tucson, AZ, has been designated as a UroLift® Center of Excellence. The designation recognizes that Dr. Page has achieved a high level of training and experience with the UroLift® System and demonstrated a commitment to exemplary care for men suffering from symptoms associated with Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), also known as enlarged prostate.

Recommended for the treatment of BPH in both the American Urological Association and European Association of Urology clinical guidelines, the FDA-cleared Prostatic Urethral Lift procedure using the UroLift System is a proven, minimally invasive technology for treating lower urinary tract symptoms due to BPH. The UroLift permanent implants, delivered during a transurethral outpatient procedure, relieve prostate obstruction and open the urethra directly without cutting, heating, or removing prostate tissue.

The UroLift Center of Excellence program is designed to highlight urologists who are committed to educating their patients on BPH and the UroLift System as a treatment option and consistently seek to deliver excellent patient outcomes and experiences.

“This designation recognizes Dr. Jay Page as a UroLift Center of Excellence for his commitment to providing safe and effective treatment to patients with BPH,” said Dave Amerson, president of the Teleflex Interventional Urology business unit. “We are pleased to see the continued acceptance of the UroLift System as a standard of care treatment that may allow men to discontinue the use of BPH medications and improve their quality of life.”

Over 40 million men in the United States are affected by BPH, a condition that occurs when the prostate gland that surrounds the male urethra becomes enlarged with advancing age and begins to obstruct the urinary system. Symptoms of BPH often include interrupted sleep and urinary problems and can cause loss of productivity, depression and decreased quality of life.

Medication is often the first-line therapy for enlarged prostate, but relief can be inadequate and temporary. Side effects of medication treatment can include sexual dysfunction, dizziness and headaches, prompting many patients to quit using the drugs. For these patients, the classic alternative is surgery that cuts, heats or removes prostate tissue to open the blocked urethra. While current surgical options can be very effective in relieving symptoms, they can also leave patients with permanent side effects such as urinary incontinence, erectile dysfunction, and retrograde ejaculation.

About the UroLift® System

The FDA-cleared UroLift System is a proven, minimally invasive technology for treating lower urinary tract symptoms due to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). The UroLift permanent implants, delivered during a minimally invasive transurethral outpatient procedure, relieve prostate obstruction and open the urethra directly without cutting, heating, or removing prostate tissue. Clinical data from a pivotal 206-patient randomized controlled study showed that patients with enlarged prostate receiving UroLift implants reported rapid and durable symptomatic and urinary flow rate improvement without compromising sexual function*1,2. Patients also experienced a significant improvement in quality of life. Over 100,000 men have been treated with the UroLift System in the U.S. Most common adverse events reported include hematuria, dysuria, micturition urgency, pelvic pain, and urge incontinence. Most symptoms were mild to moderate in severity and resolved within two to four weeks after the procedure. The Prostatic Urethral Lift procedure using the UroLift System is recommended for the treatment of BPH in both the American Urological Association and European Association of Urology clinical guidelines. The UroLift System is available in the U.S., Europe, Australia, Canada, Mexico and South Korea. Learn more at http://www.UroLift.com.

While the program will be open to a variety of impact ventures, RVC is encouraging entrepreneurs to apply that are developing technologies that can aid in the COVID-19 response effort or that could be viable detection or mitigation solutions for future pandemics.

What if venture capitalists had identified and invested in novel solutions to pandemics ten years ago? We would all be in a better place.

Rockies Venture Club (RVC), the largest angel investor group in Colorado, is hosting their next Impact HyperAccelerator program on June 22nd through June 29th, 2020. The program is designed to help seed-stage startups prepare to raise money from venture capital and angel investors. The accelerator consists of a series of intense sessions, following the “Learn – Do – Present and Defend” model in which companies work closely with mentors to develop defensible valuations, venture capital term sheets, capital stack strategies, financial proformas, hypergrowth marketing, due diligence readiness and pitch training. The program’s capstone is a virtual investor Demo Day with 100+ accredited investors and startup supporters in attendance. This Demo Day is followed by RVC’s syndication investment process for those companies that garnered the greatest interest from RVC’s angel investor network.

This iteration of the HyperAccelerator centers on for-profit social or environmental impact companies in sectors such as healthcare, cleantech, education tech, agriculture tech, climate, water, energy and materials science. This summer’s accelerator will be the 10th cohort of the program created by RVC. This HyperAccelerator, however, will be the first to be offered in a completely virtual environment using a variety of collaborative technologies to engage 10 companies and over 50 investor mentors set to take part.

While the program will be open to a variety of impact ventures, RVC is encouraging entrepreneurs to apply that are developing technologies that can aid in the COVID-19 response effort or that could be viable detection or mitigation solutions for future pandemics. Peter Adams, RVC’s Executive Director and Managing Partner at the new Pandemic Impact Fund, added, “It’s clear that the world is at least a decade behind in pandemic preparedness. We have an opportunity now to identify, support, and fund companies that are innovating in pandemic preparation and response with solutions bridging public and private entities.”

While many venture capital funds and private investors are choosing to constrain capital during this period of economic uncertainty, RVC and its network are opting to support early-stage entrepreneurs and startups by remaining active and deploying investments.

Founders or prospective mentors interested in applying to participate or learning more about the RVC Impact HyperAccelerator can visit http://www.hyperaccelerator.org. The deadline for applications is May 15th, 2020.
