Board-Certified Periodontist Makes Full Mouth Dental Implants Possible for Severe Bone Loss Patients in West Covina, CA

Dr. Jin Kim, Periodontist Serving West Covina, CA

Dr. Jin Kim Offers Revolutionary Full Mouth Dental Implants in West Covina, CA

One of the primary reasons for loose, uncomfortable dentures is bone loss due to a lack of tooth root stimulation.

Dr. Jin Kim now welcomes new and existing patients in West Covina, CA with or without a referral to receive a permanent tooth replacement solution. Thanks to the revolutionary All-on-4 full mouth dental implant solution, even patients experiencing bone loss in their jaw can receive a full mouth of new teeth in just one day, while preventing further bone loss. Those with missing teeth or bone loss in West Covina, CA are invited to experience the benefits of All-on-4 at Dr. Kim’s practice.

“I came to Dr. Kim several months ago to have some implants in my lower dentures because they were moving around and I was having a very bad time eating,” says dental implant patient, Nina. “Now they are not moving! I highly recommend Dr. Kim and his staff. They have been very kind and understanding. I’m happy I came here.”

One of the primary reasons for loose, uncomfortable dentures is bone loss due to a lack of tooth root stimulation. As the bone recedes, dentures no longer have balanced support and will often slip, pinch or fall out. When those with missing teeth experience significant bone loss, it not only causes problems with dentures, but it alters their facial appearance and makes it difficult to eat. By combining dental implants with a full arch prosthesis of teeth, patients can counter these concerns, giving them a stronger, more stable bite.

With All-on-4 full mouth dental implants, Dr. Kim can maximize the use of available bone by strategically placing just four dental implants into the jaw. This often means that patients who have extensive bone loss in their mouth can still receive dental implants without undergoing the hassle of a bone graft. Dental implants stimulate the jawbone to promote continued bone health. Once the implants are placed, Dr. Kim attaches a secure and stable prosthesis of teeth, allowing patients to experience a drastically stronger bite, eat a greater variety of foods, and no longer worry about their teeth slipping or feeling uncomfortable. The procedure can often be completed in just one day, giving patients a brand-new smile when they leave the office.

Dr. Kim boasts a 98.5 percent success rate with All-on-4 full mouth dental implants. This success is due to his years of experience and education. He actively lectures around the world on the All-on-4 dental implant procedure and how it is beneficial to those with bone loss. Dr. Kim is also a consultant to four major dental implant companies and a surgical device manufacturer in the United States.

Patients in West Covina, CA and surrounding areas who are interested in securing their dentures with dental implants are invited to schedule a consultation with Dr. Kim at either of his two practice locations. Appointments can be made by calling the Diamond Bar, CA location at 909-860-9222 or the Garden Grove location at 714-898-8757, as well as online at http://www.drjinkim.com.

World Allergy Week 2020 will address allergy care during the COVID-19 pandemic

World Allergy Week 2020 logo

Allergists can help ease patients’ concerns by identifying the differences between allergies and COVID-19, making health assessments, and reviewing treatment plans.

World Allergy Organization (WAO) will host World Allergy Week from June 28 to July 4, 2020, to emphasize the importance of maintaining regular care of allergies and asthma during the COVID-19 pandemic.

COVID-19, short for “coronavirus disease 2019”, is a disease spreading around the world caused by infection with a new strain of coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2). Patients with symptoms are very contagious, but even those with mild or no symptoms can still infect others. A vaccine against COVID-19 is not yet available.

A pandemic can be a time of anxiety for those with asthma and allergies such as allergic rhinitis (hay fever), eczema/dermatitis, allergic conjunctivitis, food allergies, and other conditions. Symptom similarity between allergies and COVID-19 can be confusing. Sneezing and itching, for example, are common in allergic rhinitis, while fever, fatigue, and shortness of breath appear in COVID-19. Allergists can help ease patients’ concerns by identifying the differences between allergies and COVID-19, making health assessments, and reviewing treatment plans.

“It is important that individuals do not stop taking their prescribed allergy or asthma medications, including inhaled or oral corticosteroids and other asthma controller medications – with or without a pandemic,” according to Sandra N. González-Díaz, MD, PhD, of Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León in México. “They should consult their physicians about getting the care they need while limiting their exposure to the virus.” In many areas, health care practitioners use telemedicine and telephone consults for non-emergencies to avoid the risk of infection from face-to-face medical visits.

If you have asthma, continuing to control it could help you better defend against the virus. According to Bryan Martin, DO, of The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, USA. “Most respiratory viruses are common triggers of severe asthma attacks. When you have asthma, underlying swelling and inflammation in the lungs can make it difficult to fight off viruses. Taking prescribed controller therapy daily, whether you have symptoms or not, helps repair that inflammation and fight off viruses more efficiently.”

Allergy care might change for patients infected with COVID-19, so it is important that they contact their physicians to discuss their symptoms as soon as possible. According to Motohiro Ebisawa, MD, PhD, of Sagamihara National Hospital in Sagamihara, Japan, and President of the World Allergy Organization. “Professional help is essential to understanding what is causing symptoms such as shortness of breath, chest tightness, or difficulty breathing. Patients should not assume these symptoms are either from their asthma or COVID-19 but consult their physicians immediately in case emergency care is needed.”

The international medical community agrees there is much to understand yet about COVID-19 and the best treatment for those who have become sick. World Allergy Week 2020 organizers are emphasizing the need for patients and physicians alike to stay updated on accurate medical information about COVID-19 and allergic disease and communicate regularly for optimal symptom management, disease prevention, and quality of life.

International allergy experts will present “COVID-19 and Allergic Diseases” a two hour-webinar with a live question and answer session, hosted by WAO on July 2, 2020. It will begin at 8:00 AM EDT (New York). Click here to find your local time: https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter-classic.html. Portable, Vehicle-Mounted Hand-Washing Station From National Fleet Products Makes Hygiene Compliance Mobile

COVID-19, PPE, hand sanitizer

Now, water and hand sanitizer can be dispensed virtually anywhere, and application-specific hardware enables units to stand on their own, or to be mounted to a wide variety of vehicles.

Our versatile mobile hygiene station will be a game changer, making hand-washing more accessible and convenient and helping to reduce the spread of COVID-19. – Steven Peterson

National Fleet Products, a global source for aftermarket accessories for commercial vehicles, announced the introduction of its new portable and vehicle-mounted hand-washing stations. The rugged, purpose-built product design allows water and hand sanitizer to be dispensed virtually anywhere, and application-specific hardware enables units to stand on their own, or to be mounted to a wide variety of vehicles.

The President’s Coronavirus Guidelines for America lists hand-washing first under its guidelines for practicing good hygiene. However, until now, it has been difficult for vehicle operators, work crews and others functioning in isolated conditions to observe what the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) calls “one of the most important steps we can take to avoid getting sick and spreading germs to others.”

The black or translucent white water-dispensing tanks come in 6.5 gallon and 10 gallon sizes and are made of durable, virgin polypropylene with an additive that makes them resistant to UV rays. An integrated removable soap dispenser serves as the cap to the filling port, and a separate cap is also available.

Spring-toggle water spigots are easy to operate, and because they automatically stop water flow when no longer depressed, they eliminate recontamination because there is no need to touch them again once hands are clean. The spigots are recessed and side mounted to protect them from damage.

Portable units are available with sturdy, powder-coated steel frame stands that can be outfitted with additional accessories such as paper towel dispensers, graphic signage and more. Vehicle-mounted units are available with frame- and body-mounting hardware that is compatible with virtually any type of truck, including heavy-, medium- and light-duty pickups, work trucks, box vans, ag and construction equipment, trailers and more.

“Our versatile mobile hygiene station will be a game changer, making hand-washing more accessible and convenient and helping to reduce the spread of COVID-19,” Steven Peterson, president of National Fleet Products, said. “These cleansing stations can go virtually anywhere and will now enable all sorts of businesses to protect their workers and their customers from transmitting disease.”

Now, workers who share tools and equipment can regularly clean their hands to reduce cross contamination with colleagues. The new units meet Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements for hand-washing stations at construction sites and can easily be positioned and repositioned as the need arises.

The vehicle-mounted hygiene station enables drivers and crews to sanitize their hands before reentering the vehicle. The system also allows workers and others to avoid unnecessary exposure to hand-washing fixtures in public restrooms, often recognized as key vectors for disease exposure and transmission.

“I had one municipal solid waste fleet tell me that they are excited to have such a versatile sanitizing solution, because they want to keep their people working, but they want to keep them safe in the process,” Peterson said. “Our new portable and vehicle-mounted hand-washing stations help establish new behaviors and reinforce better, more health-conscious habits.”

National Fleet Products’ new portable hand-washing stations can be located at warehouse shipping and receiving doorways, at manufacturing and commercial building points of entry, near fixed and portable restroom facilities, adjacent to food production stands, on construction project sites and at agriculture production and processing facilities. The vehicle-mounted hand-washing stations can go anywhere the vehicle goes.

Parties interested in scheduling a demonstration of the new portable and vehicle-mounted hand-washing stations may contact National Fleet Products directly by calling (763) 762-3451 or by sending an email to sales@nationalfleetproducts.com. The new portable and vehicle-mounted hand-washing stations are in stock now and available in the United States and Canada through the company’s extensive distribution network of convenient distribution locations. Please contact National Fleet Products to locate a distributor near you.

Genetic Medicine will be the Solution to COVID-19, and Ligandal is Leading the way

Andre Watson

Ligandal’s peptide is an exciting leap forward in our ability to address and neutralise the virus directly.

Vaccines currently in development face the dual challenge of overcoming the temporary immunity presented by coronavirus infection, and the SARS-CoV-2 virus’s highly effective cloaking mechanism that effectively renders it invisible to the immune system.

Ligandal’s technology has been designed around the unique genetic signature of the virus, which has informed the development of a peptide nanoscaffold. This peptide prevents the virus from binding with human cells, halting infection. The peptide also simultaneously disables the viral cloaking mechanism, making the virus vulnerable to an immune response.

Andre Watson, CEO and Founder of Ligandal, says, “I started Ligandal to create practical genetic medicine technology that solves the world’s most pressing health problems. We had been developing a way of training T-cells to attack cancer tumours, but when the COVID-19 pandemic began, I realised our technology would be effective at neutralising this single, virulent pathogen without requiring a gene therapy component. The beauty of our solution is that it can be used as treatment and vaccine. In infected people, the peptide will prevent viral entry and replication, while bolstering the immune response and formation of neutralising antibodies that can eliminate the virus. Other approaches may neutralise the virus, but many alternatives such as antibody therapies and viral-neutralising compounds will leave the body vulnerable to repeat infection. In those who haven’t been infected, the peptide will display critical immunoepitopes for antibody and T cell responses against the key parts of the virus necessary for forming a neutralising response. The peptide can also be used in conjunction with other treatments and vaccines—and may bolster the efficacy of spike protein vaccines in particular—although that shouldn’t be necessary if we achieve in vivo results suggested by the in silico modelling.”

Adam Hamdy, a medical consultant and author, who recently joined the company’s advisory board, says, “The microbiological characteristics of SARS-CoV-2 make it extremely unlikely that current vaccine approaches, which rely on training the immune system but present key challenges with this virus, will offer anything more than partial protection at best. It was clear to me that any effective response to this virus had to target it directly while also bolstering immune response.”

Importantly, Ligandal’s peptide has advantages over other technologies in development because it is room temperature stable, meaning it represents a genuinely global solution, both in terms of logistics and the storage of the medicine. It also has a low cost per dose once at mass production scale, which means global producton is entirely feasible. It can also move rapidly through preclinical and clinical studies given the accelerated global regulatory environment and simple at scale manufacturing process.

Andre Watson says, “As hostile actors take note of the havoc caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, it is clear we need better ways to ramp up our biodefense capabilities. A rapid four-year conventional vaccine cycle to trial a single solution isn’t going to be sufficient to meet future threats. Ligandal modelled its peptide within five hours of receiving a genetic sequence of the virus, and was ready to test its response in two months. We anticipate being ready to commence clinical studies later this year or very early next year. Our only limitation in getting this to the general public is how quickly we can move through the clinical studies.”

Adam Hamdy says, “A long term solution to the COVID-19 problem lies in genetic medicine. Ligandal’s peptide is an exciting leap forward in our ability to address and neutralise the virus directly. Unlike conventional vaccines, which only get one shot at proving efficacy, Ligandal’s peptide can be improved by rewriting its genetic code in response to novel viral variants, giving us the opportunity to rapidly iterate and keep at the problem until we get the answer absolutely right.”

HealthLX & Wendigo Advisors Partner to Meet Skyrocketing Payer Demand for Compliance Enablement with CMS Interoperability and Patient Access Final Rule

HealthLX announced today that it has formed a systems integrator partnership with Wendigo Advisors to help healthcare payers comply with the CMS Interoperability and Patient Access Final Rule. Medicare and Medicaid health plans as well as those participating in the federal exchange must enable member record exchange by July 1, 2021, or risk possible enforcement actions.

“We anticipated this gap in the technology and workflows healthcare payers need to become compliant,” said Will Tesch, CEO of HealthLX. “With our technology and Wendigo’s expertise in health plan IT strategy and implementation, we now have the capability on a wider scale to build the highways between plans and their members. We want to do as much as possible to advance healthcare interoperability in the U.S..”

“This is a critical opportunity for small and mid-market health plans to make significant leaps forward in their use of technology,” said Brian Damiani, President, and CEO of Wendigo Advisors. “One of the outcomes we’d like to see for health plans from this push for compliance is that payers better leverage advanced technology to contribute to their members’ health and plan sustainability rather than playing catch-up in the digital environment.”

HealthLX is a founding member of the Da Vinci Project and a recognized leader in solving clinical data integration challenges with its leading-edge technology. HealthLX’s premium FHIR Enterprise solution creates the data exchange capabilities payers need to quickly become compliant without requiring costly replacement of legacy systems. Using HealthLX technology, Wendigo Advisors will be able to solve compliance and interoperability issues for its clients, which include health plans nationwide.

“We’re very excited about this partnership and the possibilities it creates,” said Tesch. “We firmly believe in the Cures Act mandates and their importance. Working with Wendigo will further our mission to radically improve healthcare interoperability.”

About HealthLX

HealthLX™ (Healthcare Language Exchange) gives payers and providers an interoperability engine designed specifically for healthcare data exchange, including the CMS Interoperability and Patient Access Final Rule. The HealthLX platform supports FHIR natively, and also supports an array of older healthcare data standards (HL7 v2, EDI, CDA). HealthLX simplifies the effort and cost of new solution integration by creating modern API endpoints on legacy systems, all while providing highly configurable security and enhanced levels of transaction monitoring. As a founding member of Health Level Seven International’s (HL7) Da Vinci Project, HealthLX has been working with and supporting the development of use cases and the FHIR standard itself, to comply with the Cures Act mandates.
