Before the launch of Equalize, Eden Formulations traditionally offered three niche, adult supplements to its customers:

Dr. William Lane Hosts Second SmileOn!™ Full Arch Dental Implant Bootcamp in Plymouth, MA

Dr. William Lane, Oral Surgeon in Plymouth, MA and Sandwich, MA

Dr. William Lane Hosts Dental Implant Bootcamp in Plymouth, MA

Having a dental implant is literally the closest thing to having a natural tooth.

Dr. William Lane of Lane Oral Surgery will host the second module of his patented SmileOn!™ full arch dental implant series in Plymouth, MA. The SmileOn! Full Arch Bootcamp covers full arch fixed dental implants, a solution that provides patients who suffer with failing or missing teeth the most advanced option for permanent dentures. This second module of the bootcamp will cover how to effectively explain treatment plans to patients, as well as the education material that should be presented to them. The SmileOn! Bootcamp was designed for dentists who are interested in gaining more education and skill in full mouth dental implants.

“Having a dental implant is literally the closest thing to having a natural tooth,” says Dr. Lane. “The implant is completely stable, and it doesn’t move in any way. It’s functional in aesthetics and ability to chew, and you have a long-term solution as implants very rarely have problems. Overall, it’s a method that allows for the most natural replacement of a missing tooth.”

In partnership with Keystone Dental Lab, Arcari Dental Lab and Progressive Dental Marketing, the SmileOn! Full Arch Bootcamp is designed to help doctors learn and grow their implant practice. The second module will take place at Lane Oral Surgery on Friday, November 8, 2019. Those presenting will lecture on the key steps of communicating to patients, covering exactly what treatment a patient requires, what the treatment consists of and the prosthetic options available to create these permanent denture solutions. Course objectives include:

  • Presentation of treatment options to the patient
  • Coaching on effective patient discussion
  • Presentation of treatment plans by the surgeon and lab
  • Overview of prosthetic options from Keystone Dental
  • Review of patient education material

Just as this module is all about patient communication, Lane Oral Surgery places this as a top priority within its practice as well. Dr. Lane always works to ensure patients have a thorough understanding of their treatment before it begins, especially when it comes to complex dental implant procedures. Dr. Lane developed the SmileOn! system, creating a full mouth solution for those desiring permanent dentures.

With SmileOn!, patients can receive a full mouth of new teeth utilizing as few as four dental implants. When a prosthesis of teeth is attached to these implants, this provides patients with a permanent denture that allows them to speak, eat and smile with confidence. Many denture concerns, such as denture pain, slipping or clicking, are alleviated with permanent dentures. Plus, patients can expect these full mouth dental implants to last for many years.

Dr. Lane conveniently practices out of two offices, with locations in Plymouth, MA and Sandwich, MA. Those in or around Plymouth, MA and Sandwich, MA who are interested in learning more about SmileOn! full arch dental implants are encouraged to contact Lane Oral Surgery by calling 508-746-8700 or visiting http://www.laneoralsurgery.com.

Cieplak Dental Excellence Trains in Myofunctional Therapy to Help La Plata, MD Patients Experiencing Overbites or Difficulty Swallowing

La Plata, MD Dentist, Dr. Patrick Cieplak and His Staff at Cieplak Dental Excellence

Cieplak Dental Excellence Improves Overbite Treatment in La Plata, MD

We learned how to identify patients with myofunctional occlusion issues and ways to help them so that they can sleep, eat and speak better.

The team at Cieplak Dental Excellence recently attended an in-office training on myofunctional therapy in La Plata, MD. Orofacial myofunctional disorders (OMDs) are abnormal movement patterns of the face and mouth that can restrict how a patient eats, sleeps and speaks. This can include anything from difficulty swallowing and limited tongue movement to an overbite. Participation in this course is another element of the proactive approach that Dr. Patrick Cieplak’s team takes with continuing education. Everyone on this highly successful dental team, from the administration staff to Dr. Cieplak himself, takes any opportunity to enhance their skills and knowledge in an effort to better the patient experience.

Myofunctional disorders can affect anyone, from children and teenagers to adults. The condition interferes with the normal growth and development of jaw muscles and bones. Those affected typically experience difficulty swallowing or breathing and have trouble using their mouth for simple, everyday activities. Therapy for myofunctional disorder can help correct these concerns, allowing patients to live a more natural lifestyle. Common signs and symptoms of this disorder include:

  • Mouth breathing or trouble breathing through the nose
  • Limited tongue movements
  • Trouble eating
  • Overbite, underbite or other dental concerns
  • Constant tongue thrusting

“We learned how to identify patients with myofunctional occlusion issues and ways to help them so that they can sleep, eat and speak better,” says Sharon Garner, the Practice Administrator at Cieplak Dental Excellence. “This gives patients a better quality of life and improved health.”

The primary goal of myofunctional therapy is to create an environment that promotes normal function of the mouth and proper dental growth and development. After attending this in-office training, which included hands-on learning exercises, Dr. Cieplak and his team have a more in-depth understanding on the treatment and therapy required to help patients suffering from myofunctional disorder.

Cieplak Dental Excellence is a team of compassionate dental professionals who offer cosmetic dentistry, dental implant treatment, general dentistry and more. The practice provides cutting-edge technology and sedation dentistry to make treatments easier and safer for patients. Dr. Cieplak has served the La Plata, MD community for over three decades and strives to educate his patients, his staff, and himself at every opportunity.

“Silver Fern Healthcare focuses on the 60% of what drives health outcomes and gives clinicians actionable care paths to improve patient outcomes and reduce costs.”

The American College of Lifestyle Medicine (ACLM) today announced the addition of Silver Fern Healthcare to its Lifestyle Medicine Corporate Roundtable, a group of individuals and organizations whose collective vision is sustainable human health, a sustainable health care system and a sustainable world.

Silver Fern Healthcare combines behavior medicine expertise with a state-of-the-art digital platform to deliver a distinctive integrated toolset for use in routine clinical care. While clinicians routinely order a range of diagnostic tests, including clinical, laboratory, pathology, radiology and genetic screenings, until now they have not had access to practical screenings for behavior and psychosocial issues that are critical to diabetes care and a professional challenge for front-line primary care clinicians. Silver Fern’s proprietary Behavior Diagnostic Platform for chronic disease management has shown in rigorous, real-world, community and clinical settings to significantly improve health outcomes for people living with chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes and provides actionable suggestions and care pathways for providers and health care networks.

Moreover, Silver Fern’s integrated digital health system offers practical solutions for implementing the new American Diabetes Association (2016) clinical care guidelines by simplifying assessment and management of patient behaviors, goals and barriers, as well as psychosocial problems, to improve treatment engagement and to help them cope with the burden of treatment. For clinicians, the program provides readily accessible, actionable reports which integrate into an existing electronic medical record and team workflows.

“Silver Fern Healthcare delivers practical, highly scalable behavior and psychosocial diagnostic solutions to clinicians to use with patients who have chronic diseases,” said Silver Fern Chief Scientific Officer Garry Welch. “We focus on the 60% of what drives health outcomes and give clinicians actionable care paths to improve patient outcomes and reduce costs.”

“Silver Fern has cracked the code to better outcomes by focusing on the behavior and psychosocial aspects of chronic disease,” said ACLM President Dexter Shurney, MD, MBA, FACLM, DipABLM. “By identifying critical behavior and psychosocial issues in patients with chronic disease, clinicians can tailor motivational and educational resources to drive optimal health outcomes. The company’s mission to improve the quality of life and health outcomes for patients living with chronic disease worldwide is in direct alignment with ACLM’s. We welcome them to our Corporate Roundtable.”

The Corporate Roundtable of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine convenes health care and lifestyle thought leaders, with a keen focus on the power of Lifestyle Medicine to transform health and health care. Roundtable members explore effective Lifestyle Medicine clinical applications, strategies for accelerating reimbursement, and adoption and analysis of potential business-related opportunities. The Roundtable launched in 2015 and has grown to include more than 30 active member organizations.

ABOUT THE AMERICAN COLLEGE OF LIFESTYLE MEDICINE: ACLM is the medical professional society for those dedicated to the advancement and clinical practice of Lifestyle Medicine as the foundation of a transformed and sustainable health care system. Lifestyle Medicine is the use of a whole food, plant-predominant dietary lifestyle, regular physical activity, restorative sleep, stress management, avoidance of risky substances and positive social connection as a primary therapeutic modality for treatment and reversal of chronic disease.

More than a professional association, ACLM is a galvanized force for change. ACLM addresses the need for quality education and certification, supporting its members in their individual practices and in their collective mission to domestically and globally promote Lifestyle Medicine as the first treatment option, as opposed to a first option of treating symptoms and consequences with expensive, ever increasing quantities of pills and procedures. ACLM members are united in their desire to identify and eradicate the root cause of disease. Learn more at http://www.LifestyleMedicine.org.

As A Proud National Team of Alzheimer’s Association

News Image

“As an organization, we were looking to give back to our community in a way that would build off of the work we do in our centers each day. We knew if we could leverage our organization as a whole toward something our team members were already interested in, the impact would be widespread.”

Villa Healthcare is honored to be a National Team with the Alzheimer’s Association for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s to raise funds and awareness for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. With almost 4,000 patients and residents treated at the 34 skilled nursing facilities it supports in five Midwest regions, Villa has an organizational connection to Alzheimer’s as it impacts not only our guests, but also our team members and families.

“As an organization, we were looking to give back to our community in a way that would build off of the work we do in our centers each day. When looking to pair community efforts with a relevant cause, we noticed many of our team members were already participating in various Alzheimer’s awareness efforts. We knew if we could leverage our organization as a whole toward something our team members were already interested in, the impact would be widespread” said Toni Fimowicz, Alzheimer’s National Team Leader and National Director of Organizational Development at Villa.

As an organization with 4,500 employees, Alzheimer’s also impacts Villa’s team members through their families and friends. “When we shared our plans to participate in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, it was incredible to see the connections we were able to form with each other through learning why they walked and how Alzheimer’s Disease had touched their lives, both professionally and personally. This is one of the most rewarding (and unexpected) aspects of our participation, being able to build relationships and to support our team members, throughout our organization” said Marissa Kalama, Alzheimer’s National Team Leader and Director of Villa Referral Management.

The work Villa has been doing to be a National Team with the Alzheimer’s Association has brought together not only the organizational development goals and the employees, but also the five regions. The Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Saturday, October 26 at Soldier Field in Chicago is the culmination of eleven walks from August to October, in all five regions that Villa supports skilled nursing facilities. Additionally, each of the regions highlighted creativity in their fundraising. In Michigan North, the Villa team partnered with an animal shelter to raise funds for both causes through an event hosted in the region and in Michigan South, the Villa team collected bottles and cans at each facility to raise money through collecting the deposits. Wisconsin’s team hosted a backpack raffle with donated backpacks and back to school supplies. In Illinois there was a bingo night hosted at the central support office. Minnesota focused on increasing the number of walk participants through registration rallies. And, always a popular fundraiser, all regions hosted bake sales. To date, almost $27,000 has been raised, and the team is hopeful to far exceed 2018’s donation of $26,000. Villa will match 50% of the funds raised by the team.

Rotary lights up Kansas City’s Marriott Hotel and Kauffman Center to support global polio eradication on World Polio Day, October 24, 2019

Rotary members in the Kansas City region are among millions reaching out on World Polio Day to raise awareness, funds and support to end polio – a vaccine preventable disease that still threatens children in parts of the world today.

On Thursday, October 24, Rotary clubs in Kansas City will illuminate the exterior of the Marriott Hotel at 200 West 12th St, Kansas City, MO 64105, and the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. The Marriott Hotel will be illuminated with Rotary’s humanitarian service pledge to End Polio Now. The message will be displayed on the edifice beginning at sunset on Thursday October 24. The Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, 1601 Broadway Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64108, will be illuminated in red, the color of Rotary’s End Polio Now initiative. By vote of the Kanas City, Missouri, City Council, Thursday, October 24 has been declared World Polio Day in Kansas City.

”This is one day with one focus for Rotarians all over the world,” said Rotary District 6040 Governor, Marc Horner. “The End Polio Now message is Rotary’s promise to the children of the world.”

Since Rotary and its partners launched the Global Polio Eradication Initiative 30 years ago, Rotary members have contributed $1.9 billion and countless volunteer hours to protect more than 2.5 billion children in 122 countries from this paralyzing disease. Incidence of polio has plummeted by more than 99.9 percent, from about 350,000 cases a year in 125 countries in 1988 to just 33 cases in 2018. To sustain this progress, and protect all children from polio, Rotary has committed to raising US$50 million per year in support of global polio eradication efforts. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation will match Rotary’s commitment 2:1. Without full funding and political commitment, this paralyzing disease could return to previously polio-free countries, putting children everywhere at risk.

About Rotary

Burlington Medical Develops the First-of-Its-Kind Radiation Protection Garment Exclusively for Women

Lead Apron for Women

The Princess Vest

This unique design allows the flat, protective core material to be fit much closer to the shape of the breasts and axillary area whilst giving greater comfort and protection.

THE PRINCESS VEST

Made for women, designed by women

Unisex radiation protection garments have not only been the standard choice for female providers, they were the only choice. Women in radiology had to settle for either a flat garment that places pressure on the breasts, or a loose garment that can allow harmful radiation to penetrate the sides of the breasts.

Female leaders of Burlington Medical, a product designer who worked in the fashion industry for more than 40 years, and a Registered Nurse with years of experience in interventional radiology, decided that female providers needed a specialized solution. Their creation not only minimizes radiation exposure to the breasts and axilla, but is more ergonomically sound and reduces musculoskeletal strain.

SHAPED FOR THE FEMALE BODY

Princess Vests are designed exclusively for the female form. The innovative Princess Seam creates a convex shape that molds to the breasts. By eliminating the flat, angular designs of unisex vests, Princess Vests offer greater comfort and easier movement to female providers.

PROVIDING PROTECTION WOMEN NEED

Unisex apron designs can leave the sides of the breasts and axilla exposed to scatter radiation. The contoured shape of the Princess Vest more closely fits the breasts, lymph nodes, axilla, and front neck areas, providing better radiation protection to sensitive tissue and organs.

RELIEVING MUSCULOSKELETAL STRAIN

The close, contoured fit of the Princess Vest eliminates excess overlap, shaving the overall weight of the garment. An integrated elastic band amplifies the ergonomic design allowing a more comfortable fit.

“I joined ProtecX, Burlington Medical’s UK sister facility, after working in fashion, design and fit for 40 years. I started doing some hospital visits to customers and I noticed that a lot of ladies were wearing vests but putting their hands in the armhole pouch as if it were a pocket. When I asked them why they did this, they said, ‘Nothing ever fits around our breasts so we just put our hands in there instead, to fill the gap!’ ”

“So I started considering how we could construct a seam to allow us to shape the protective material over the contours of the breasts whilst still protecting the wearer from scatter radiation through the puncture marks in the seam line.”

“The solution is both the construction and shape of the convex seam, the Princess Seam, which hugs the breast tissue, giving the advantage of better fit and protection. This unique design allows the flat, protective core material to be fit much closer to the shape of the breasts and axillary area whilst giving greater comfort and protection. It also eliminates extra material from the closure systems of unisex vests, greatly reducing the overall weight.”
