Ovation® Fertility has promoted Matthew “Tex” VerMilyea, PhD, HCLD/CC, to a newly created position of vice president of IVF lab operations. In this new senior management role, Dr. VerMilyea serves as a scientific resource and operational advocate for the nationwide network of Ovation IVF labs and is responsible for facilitating clinical collaboration across Ovation’s laboratory teams. He will also continue working to build existing and new relationships within the fertility care community, securing Ovation’s leadership role in accessing and further developing the latest technologies and research.

Dr. VerMilyea is uniquely positioned to evaluate procedures and outcomes and develop best practices to continuously improve performance across Ovation’s scientific teams.

Dr. VerMilyea joined Ovation in 2015 with the acquisition of Austin IVF, which was one of two IVF laboratories in Texas where he served as lab director. In addition to his vice president role, he will maintain lab and scientific directorship oversight for the Ovation Fertility Austin and Ovation Fertility San Antonio IVF labs. He is board certified as both a clinical consultant and a high complexity clinical laboratory director and is well-known within the IVF research community for leading innovative, collaborative studies to advance the science of fertility care, including award-nominated research involving the use of artificial intelligence in IVF. He is frequently invited to present Ovation collaborative studies’ findings at the largest fertility care conferences in the United States and abroad.

Dr. VerMilyea received his bachelor of science degree from Cornell University and his PhD in genetics from The University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom. He then completed post-doctoral fellowships in the chromatin and gene expression laboratories at the Institute of Biomedical Research in Birmingham, UK. He was later selected as a research fellow for the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, where he completed a second fellowship in the Laboratory of Mammalian Molecular Embryology at the RIKEN Institute in Kobe, Japan.

Gumbiner Savett Inc., a full-service public accounting firm in Southern California, dedicated their October 2019 fundraising effort to Breast Cancer Awareness Month, specifically to the Dr. Susan Love Foundation for Breast Cancer Research.

The firm held bake sales throughout the month allowing employees to show off their baking skills and raise money for the foundation. During the course of the month, the firm collected names of employees’ family and friends who are survivors and have fought the disease and honored them at the final bake sale dedicating the fundraising effort to them. The firm will match all proceeds raised.
