Healthcare is an ever evolving industry, and field. These Press Releases, will keep you up to date on the newest, greatest, best, solutions available.

GreyCastle Security and iatricSystems™, Inc. Partner to Deliver a Full Suite of Privacy and Security Solutions

GreyCastle Security is the industry’s leading provider of cybersecurity risk assessment, advisory and mitigation services.

“When it comes to a partnership that combines experiences in this competitive space, this relationship increases patient safety from a cybersecurity perspective.”

GreyCastle Security, the industry’s leading provider of risk assessment, mitigation, and certification-readiness services, and iatricSystems™, Inc., a healthcare technology company dedicated to helping healthcare organizations enhance their IT investments, recently entered into a strategic relationship. By joining forces, iatricSystems and GreyCastle Security can now deliver, from start to finish, a complete suite of privacy and security solutions and support for those solutions to their customer base.

Cybersecurity is a growing concern in the healthcare industry. According to HIPAA Journal, the majority of companies are spending their budgets on network security and advanced technologies to increase the security of data transfers. However, the greatest challenge hospitals face is keeping up with the ever changing landscape of cybersecurity.

In addition to budget constrictions, 53 percent of surveyed healthcare firms revealed that the complexity of healthcare systems is the main reason they haven’t upgraded security measures. iatricSystems and GreyCastle Security recognize that in order to create a robust security plan for hospitals, it often requires resources from multiple vendors and solution providers. By working together, iatricSystems and GreyCastle Security complete the legwork for their customers to find the best mix of solutions and providers.

“When it comes to a partnership that combines experiences in this competitive space, this relationship increases patient safety from a cybersecurity perspective,” said GreyCastle Security’s Director of Strategic Partnerships, Sean Phillips. “GreyCastle Security’s risk-based approach to cybersecurity will help create the perfect blend of services to enable hospitals and health systems to increase the defensibility of their programs.”

Working in tandem, iatricSystems offers the solutions to monitor patient privacy, secure remote access, and manage vendor risk, while GreyCastle Security completes risk assessments, builds incident response plans, prepares for OCR audits, and acts as an ongoing solution advisor.

“As hospitals implement new security solutions and checkpoints, cybercriminals are hard at work finding new ways to breach systems,” said iatricSystems Executive Vice President Rob Rhodes. “That’s why it is so important for hospitals to have partners that they can trust to put a good plan in place to protect themselves from breaches, meet regulatory requirements (i.e., HIPAA), and complete ongoing risk assessments.”

With the continuous rise of security breaches, experts believe that, if not taken seriously, the healthcare sector could face a damaging financial impact and increased risk to patient safety in the next four to five years. The partnership between GreyCastle Security and iatricSystems is designed to strengthen security efforts and deliver peace of mind for healthcare organizations and their patients.

Olaris Announces Grant from The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research

Olaris, a precision medicine company that is fundamentally changing how diseases are diagnosed and treated, today announced it has received a grant from The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (MJFF). With this funding Olaris will work to identify biomarkers that can detect Parkinson’s disease (PD) at its earliest onset, a critical step to improving PD patient outcomes.

PD affects more than 6 million people worldwide. Currently, there is no single test to diagnose the disease, and it is believed that clinical symptoms do not become apparent until 5-10 years after the disease initially begins, during which time it is estimated that 80% of a patient’s dopaminergic neurons are lost.

“Several proposed PD biomarkers have failed to correlate with the diagnosis or progression of the disease,” said Dr. Elizabeth O’Day, founder and CEO of Olaris. “With this support from The Michael J. Fox Foundation, we will apply our proprietary metabolite profiling platform and customized machine learning algorithms in an effort to identify biomarkers that can accurately detect PD at its earliest onset.”

Olaris’ platform for measuring the metabolome is unique in its use of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy to analyze biofluid samples. Olaris has developed custom non-uniform sampling (NUS) techniques that dramatically increase the sensitivity and resolution, while also reducing the time required to collect the data. The company will use its advanced NMR methods and machine learning algorithms to uncover the metabolic fingerprint of Parkinson’s patients with a LRRK2 gene mutation, one of the strongest genetic links to the disease. This approach may identify novel metabolic biomarkers or may provide new insight into the underlying role of LRRK2 in Parkinson’s disease.

“Objective markers of Parkinson’s onset and progression would be game-changing for clinical care and research. Our Foundation supports work toward critical biomarker tools, and we are proud to support Olaris in this effort,” said Bradford Casey, PhD, MJFF Associate Director of Research Programs.

Tooth Sensitivity Is a Normal Reaction, but Frequent Pain Can Be Indicative of a More Serious Problem, Says Premier Care Dental Group

The dental office offers comprehensive oral health care.

Patients who err on the side of caution and visit the dentist at the first sign of trouble are far more likely to keep treatment costs down and their teeth and gums healthy.

A January 26 article on Live Science reports on why many people experience sensitivity in their teeth in certain situations. The answer is that – not unlike the skin’s response to dangerous conditions like extreme heat or cold, sharp objects, or harsh forces – pain and sensitivity serve as an alert to potential damage being done and warn the individual to escape the situation. Pasadena-based dental center Premier Care Dental Group says that it’s only natural to feel occasional sensitivity or pain, perhaps when biting into an impossibly-hot microwaved snack or freezing pint of ice cream. On the other hand, ongoing pain or sensitivity could be a sign of a condition.

The dental center notes that constant tooth pain or sensitivity could be indicative of a cavity or tooth decay. That’s one reason patients with consistent pain or very frequent sensitivity should visit their dentist, if only to rule out serious conditions or take preventative measures before an ailment has time to develop, the center adds. Of course, it almost goes without saying that patients need to watch their daily oral hygiene regimen with brushing and flossing twice daily.

Premier Care Dental Group says that most dental ailments are treatable, especially if they are caught early. However, the center notes that some patients have a tendency to wait until the pain or sensitivity is unbearable – but this is always a mistake. The center explains that many conditions are easily treatable in their early stages but they become much harder to manage if left to progress unimpeded. The center says that patients who err on the side of caution and visit the dentist at the first sign of trouble are far more likely to keep treatment costs down and their teeth and gums healthy.

That being said, the clinic notes that even the most vigilant tooth-brushers and dentist-goers are sometimes subject to bad luck and problems can occur due to genetics or other causes not to mention accidents and other types of trauma. The bright side is that modern dentistry can effectively treat most oral conditions and injuries, the clinic adds. For example, the clinic says that a missing tooth can often be replaced with a dental implant, assuming the underlying bone structure is strong enough to hold an implant. Even then, if a patient’s bone tissue is not sufficient, bone grafting techniques exist that allow patients to still receive an implant on their way to a healthy smile.

Premier Care Dental Groups says that, whatever the dental issue, outstanding treatments are available – but prevention is always the best medicine. Interested readers who may be in need of dental services can visit Premier Care Dental Group’s website at https://www.premiercaredentalgroup.com or call their office at (626) 795-6855.

Healthcare Executive Launches Home Health & Hospice Revenue Cycle Management Company

HealthRev Partners Logo

Traditional outsourced RCM [revenue cycle management] has become a very transactional, fee for service type operation, with very little transparency and reporting. This leaves many agencies in the dark around overall financial performance and revenue potential. Our approach is decidedly different.

Michael J. Greenlee, a healthcare veteran with more than 20 years of experience, most recently in home health and hospice, announced today the launch of HealthRev Partners, a company solely focused on consultative-style revenue cycle management for home health and hospice agencies, regardless of EHR, across the nation.

“Traditional outsourced RCM [revenue cycle management] has become a very transactional, fee for service type operation, with very little transparency and reporting. This leaves many agencies in the dark around overall financial performance and revenue potential. Our approach is decidedly different,” said Greenlee, HealthRev Partners Founder and CEO.

HealthRev Partners seeks to disrupt conventional practices by taking a more modern, consultative approach to revenue cycle management. In addition to directly managing the complexity of everyday coding and billing processes, the company works closely with clients to drive operational improvements and efficiencies across the agency. These improvements directly impact financial success and security, without the high cost usually associated with consulting services.

“Not every agency can afford a consultant, but many agencies need help identifying key factors that affect financial performance that go beyond coding and billing processes. With our tech-driven technology platform and expert team, we’re able to dig deeper to identify breakdowns in processes and areas for improvement or training,” adds Greenlee.

Home health and hospice agencies looking for a contemporary approach to managing revenue cycle operations can contact HealthRev Partners at 866.774.8943 or visit the company’s website at http://www.healthrevpartners.com to learn more.
