AdventHealth Closing the Gap on Health Care Needs in East Hillsborough County

News Image

“This is a growing community with growing health and wellness needs, and we want to be part of the solution of making high quality health care easily accessible to anyone in need of care,” said Denyse Bales-Chubb, President and CEO of AdventHealth Tampa and AdventHealth Brandon ER.

AdventHealth opened a 24-hour, 16-bed emergency room in East Hillsborough County at 305 E. Brandon Boulevard, Brandon, FL on Monday, February 17. AdventHealth is working to close the gap on the lack of direct access, transportation and additional barriers that may prevent families in the community from receiving high quality emergency care. The offsite emergency room is the latest in the company’s robust expansion plans to create a connected network of health care throughout Tampa Bay, and in the Eastern Hillsborough County neighborhoods. Last fall, the company acquired AdventHealth Medical Group Multispecialty at Bloomingdale to provide primary and cardiac care to families in Brandon, Lithia, Riverview and Valrico.

“We are excited to expand our network of care to make a significant impact on improving the lives of all we serve,” said Denyse Bales-Chubb, President and CEO of AdventHealth Tampa and AdventHealth Brandon ER. “This is a growing community with growing health and wellness needs, and we want to be part of the solution of making high quality health care easily accessible to anyone in need of care.”

The results of the latest community needs assessment survey show there is a need for additional health care services within the community. By adding this emergency room, families now have direct access to a health care system to assist in meeting their medical needs, close to home. Additionally, the ER will offer a dedicated AdventHealth ambulance to transport patients to the nearest AdventHealth hospital if they have extended health care needs. As part of AdventHealth’s commitment to provide connected care for the community and bring necessary services, the AdventHealth Brandon ER will offer a separate entrance for outpatient imaging which will include x-ray, ultrasound and CT scans, beginning May 2020 – alleviating the need to travel anywhere else for extended imaging care.

The AdventHealth Brandon ER will be staffed with board certified emergency medicine physicians and nurses who specialize in emergency care for adults and children. The ER will offer onsite laboratory services so patients can receive real-time results, enabling better diagnosis and treatment.

Join Us and Discover the Latest Skinnovation in Radio-Frequency Treatments at MilfordMD on February 20th

MilfordMD’s Introducing a NuEra of Skin Rejuvenation Event on February 20, 2020

Join Drs. Richard and Marina Buckley on February 20th, starting at 6PM, as they reveal two new additions at MilfordMD that will offer an extensive list of radio-frequency rejuvenation treatments.

MilfordMD is extremely excited to now offer an extensive list of Legend Pro and NuEra Tight radio-frequency treatments to our patients. This event is the best opportunity for women and men to learn about these non-invasive treatments from two top cosmetic doctors with over 30 years of experience.

MilfordMD Cosmetic Dermatology and Laser Center in Milford, Penn. is hosting a free fun-filled event, open to the public, where Dr. Richard E. Buckley and Dr. Marina Buckley, two of the areas most experienced cosmetic physicians, will unveil their latest non-invasive skinnovation treatments for skin rejuvenation, acne scars, facial aging, skin tightening and cellulite reduction using two new devices: Lumenis NuEra Tight™ and Legend Pro™. Join Dr. Richard E. Buckley and Dr. Marina Buckley for this two-hour exclusive event on February 20th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Event attendees will enjoy a live demonstration of Lumenis NuEra Tight™, a non-invasive radio-frequency (RF) treatment that improves skin laxity and cellulite from head to toe. Attendees will also have the chance to win a free NuEra Tight™ treatment and receive exclusive event pricing unseen anywhere else.

President of Pocono Medical Care, Inc. and cosmetic physician Dr. Marina Buckley will be on hand to answer questions and discuss the benefits of NuEra Tight™ and Legend Pro™. “These new treatments couldn’t come at a perfect time,” says Dr. Marina Buckley. “Confidence boosting treatments like microneedling, body contouring and cellulite smoothing are in especially high demand. And it makes sense. According to the most recent survey by the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, for the past seven years the top reasons people consider cosmetic treatments are because they want to feel more confident, appear more attractive, and look younger. These treatments do an excellent job of addressing those exact concerns.”

Legend Pro™ RF microneedling addresses both internal and external signs of aging. On the surface, it rejuvenates and resurfaces the skin. Underneath the skin it stimulates the body’s natural collagen and elastin production, both of which are protein fibers that support the skin and start to diminish around age 20. Collagen and elastin help smooth out fine lines and wrinkles, irregular skin tone and texture and can improve the appearance of acne scars and stretch marks. “What sets the Legend Pro™ apart is the ability to rejuvenate the face and body using a single platform,” says Dr. Marina Buckley. “This device combines unique Tripollar® radiofrequency (RF) energy with VoluDerm™ RF microneedling to trigger collagen stimulation and regeneration of new skin. It is this dual approach that results in superficial and deep revitalization of the skin.”

NuEra Tight™ is a non-invasive RF treatment that targets superficial skin and deep tissues to improve cellulite and skin laxity from head to toe. It can also aid in the reduction of stubborn small fat deposits. “For the face it is pure skin tightening. On the body, it is most commonly used on the abdomen, love handles, thighs, upper arms, bra rolls and above the knees where it tightens skin and reduces cellulite by triggering collagen growth. Clients love it because it is a comfortable treatment often likened to a pleasurable hot stone massage. Plus, it can be combined with treatments like CoolSculpting for additional fat reduction,” Dr. Marina Buckley says.

“We are very excited to offer these new treatments to patients due to the extensive list of concerns they can address and benefits they can provide,” says Dr. Marina Buckley. Legend Pro™ and NuEra Tight™ offer unparalleled benefits when it comes to skin firming, lifting, rejuvenating; facial skin thickening; fine line reduction; facial skin contouring; acne scar improvement; skin resurfacing and texture renewal; double chin treatment; body contouring; cellulite reduction; and stretch marks and scar improvement.

“When it comes to RF microneedling, body contouring, and skin tightening, MilfordMD has a lot of options available to patients,” Dr. Marina Buckley says. “We’ve found these events provide a great opportunity to meet people, provide education, and answer questions. It helps people get to know the MilfordMD team and feel comfortable in our practice as well as introduces them to new state-of-the-art technologies that can best address their aesthetic concerns.”

For over 30 years, board-certified Drs. Richard E. Buckley and Marina Buckley have dedicated their AAAHC accredited practice to helping patients achieve their aesthetic goals. MilfordMD specializes in face and body surgical and non-surgical rejuvenation and sculpting.

“Together, Marina and I have helped over 30,000 patients achieve their health and cosmetic goals with a combination of surgical and non-invasive treatments. We have the experience, tools, and treatments to get the results patients desire. This “Introducing a NuEra of Skin Rejuvenation” event is the ideal opportunity to get the word out about two great new options to address popular concerns we find among many of our patients,” says Dr. Reichard E. Buckley.

AIDS Services of Dallas holds ground breaking ceremony on its fifth affordable housing facility

News Image

ASD has been developing and managing very low-income housing for over 30 years. We are excited about this new development, centrally located just across the Trinity river, south of downtown, that offers new quality affordable housing”- President and CEO Traswell C. Livingston III.

On Tuesday, February 11, AIDS Services of Dallas (ASD) held its groundbreaking ceremony for its 511 Lancaster Project, a new affordable housing residential facility. The property, located at 511 Lancaster Avenue is the first housing development that ASD has undertaken since 1996.

“Dallas is full of new development projects for new multi-family housing. ASD has been developing and managing very low-income housing for over 30 years. We are excited about this new development, centrally located just across the Trinity river, south of downtown, that offers new quality affordable housing.” – President and CEO Traswell C. Livingston III.

Acquiring the property in 2018, ASD has received $1.19 million from the City of Dallas/HUD to remodel and refurbish the existing 8 units into 12 units with plans to open in late 2020. Once complete, The Lancaster Project will provide an independent living environment for low-income (80% or lower Area Media Income) men, women and families living with HIV/AIDS.

Working with construction partners Oglesby Greene Architects, ASD has developed a construction plan that will enable us to add four additional new construction housing units to The Lancaster Project property, increasing the project’s housing capacity by 50%. Grants from The Moody Foundation, the Perot Foundation and other private donations are being used for this expansion project.

Local government officials in attendance included Chad West, Dallas City Councilman, District 1 who currently leads the committee on Housing and Homelessness Solutions.

“This is a great day for affordable housing. Every year this organization takes another step in helping our affordable housing crisis”- Chad West

“We have fought these battles long and hard. I applaud you for the courage, the stick-to-it-ness of those who have been here on the ground fighting and meeting the challenges” – Dallas County Commissioner District 3 John Wiley Price.

Dallas County Commissioner District 1, Dr. Theresa Daniel, and Undra Miller from Senator Royce Wests office were also in attendance.

Livingston says -“This housing is focused on those that at some point were chronically homeless, have stabilized their health, no longer need supportive housing and are ready to move on to more independent housing. Too often they are faced with barriers of criminal to background, credit scores and just plain stigma based on income sources. This development offers hope, a promise that emergency shelter does not have to be forever, there are agencies out there working to provide affordable housing for them.”

Please contact Chris Turman, Development Director at (214) 941-0523, cturman@aidsdallas.org for additional funding information.

Modern Internal Medicine of Frederick Offers Modern Medicine the Old-Fashioned Way

Brendan Henderson, M.D., a Yale-trained and board-certified internal medicine physician, founded Modern Internal Medicine, LLC to provide outstanding access to high quality and affordable primary care. Through the Direct Primary Care model, the practice seeks to break down the major barriers to high quality health care: cost and inaccessibility. The result is a primary care experience reminiscent of the good old days when your doctor was afforded the time to listen to your concerns, got to know you as a person, and even made house calls. Founded in 2018, Modern Internal Medicine celebrated an official Ribbon Cutting in December 2019.

Modern Internal Medicine removes the barriers to accessing the doctor by returning all messages promptly, usually within the hour. Dr. Henderson offers same/next day access for appointments, home/worksite visits, and the appointments are relaxed and conversational – much like they used to be.

At the same time, the practice offers a modern, holistic approach employing modern therapies and lifestyle coaching designed to enhance wellness through better daily habits. Additionally, the option to discuss medical issues over email, phone, or video saves patients time and money otherwise spent traveling to and waiting in the doctor’s office. For in-office appointments, Dr. Henderson promises little to no waiting room time.

With nearly 1000 Direct Primary Care clinics nationwide, this model has gained traction. Forbes magazine has published multiple articles extolling both the health and financial benefits of the model.

Rather than accepting insurance co-pays, Direct Primary Care clinics like Modern Internal Medicine assess monthly membership dues starting as low as $49. This provides up to ten patient encounters per year, free annual labs, and access to many other services and money-saving discounts. Direct Primary Care encourages patients to seek medical care early and often which has been shown to prevent high cost encounters including: emergency room visits, hospital stays, specialty referrals, and imaging studies.

Modern Internal Medicine breaks down the cost barrier by providing wholesale discounts to save patients money including: lab panels for about 20 dollars (retail $150,) medications for as low as $2 a month, and access to highly discounted CTs and MRIs. Often these prices are lower than those available through insurance, though patients still have the option to submit these items through insurance when needed. The cost savings are most pronounced for those paying for health care out-of-pocket: deductible to meet for insurance, medical sharing plans, and the uninsured.

In short, by eliminating the bureaucracy and paperwork associated with insurance, Direct Primary Care physicians, such as Dr. Henderson at Modern Internal Medicine, spend more time listening to and caring for patients and respond more quickly and more appropriately to patients’ needs – just like in the good old days. And they do so at a fraction of the cost as compared to the traditional insurance model.

Dr. Henderson works closely with his Wellness Partners on-site including: Emily Henderson of Elegance Waxing and Spa, Michael Holda – Massage Therapist, and Joyce Kwamena-Poh – Natural Wellness Coach of Vibrant Life Self-Care Wellness.
