Amada Senior Care enriches seniors’ lives.

“We’re proud to be celebrating our seventh year of services, providing compassionate care to our seniors, helping them thrive while aging in place, and taking the lead on care management,” said Cyndi Pegus.

Amada Senior Care of Long Beach announced its 7th anniversary as a full-service provider of compassionate, in-home senior care from trained and knowledgeable Amada caregivers. From day one of opening, owners Andre and Cyndi Pegus have taken a highly personalized approach to meeting every client’s unique needs, preferences and desires, all with the goal of delivering the most comprehensive senior care for each individual.

For the husband-wife team, their independently owned franchise business is about much more than caring for seniors—it is their way of making a positive contribution to the many communities in the South Bay Los Angeles area, from Westwood to Seal Beach.

“I really wanted to open a home care business because I believed in our ability to care for seniors with compassion, dignity, and respect. It has been a dream fulfilled to make a positive impact on our seniors’ daily lives while supporting their family members through challenging times,” said Andre Pegus.

Since opening its doors in February 2013, Amada Long Beach has employed more than 750 caregivers, schedulers, recruiters and other staff. The Peguses estimate they have provided care services to more than 425 clients, of which 232 are military veterans.

Amada not only is dedicated to serving veterans but also to employing military spouses, who have difficulty getting hired due to frequently relocating. Last fall, Amada Senior Care Corp. was officially inducted as an employer-partner in the Department of Defense’s Military Spouse Employment Program (MSEP).

“We’re proud to be celebrating our seventh year of services, providing compassionate care to our seniors, helping them thrive while aging in place, and taking the lead on care management,” said Cyndi Pegus.

Along with becoming a trusted resource to seniors and their families, Amada Long Beach is a preferred partner among regional professionals, organizations and other specialists in the senior healthcare continuum dedicated to helping seniors thrive. The Amada Long Beach team leads with its in-depth knowledge and innovative approach to in-home senior care.

“Thank you for placing your trust in our team and with your support, Amada Senior Care will continue to be America’s trusted resource for caregiving, long-term care insurance (LTCi) claims advocacy, and care management now and in the future,” Cyndi Pegus said. “We look forward to many years of service ahead, helping seniors and their families.”

MediStreams Medical Lockbox Grows in Popularity

Protect payment and patient data with a HIPAA compliant Medical Lockbox and secure flow of healthcare information.

MediStreams, a leader in the RCM market, offers full end-to-end payment processing services that reduce manual, time-consuming, error prone tasks for healthcare billing facilities. The MediStreams’ proprietary and innovative platform offers customized integration into the provider’s A/R workflow. All services revolve around healthcare remittances and correspondence; from receipt, deposit, capture, posting, and reconciling. National health systems, hospitals, clinics, labs, and physicians’ groups turn to MediStreams for help.

Automated remittance services, coupled with Medical Lockbox, continue to grow in popularity. Medical Lockbox is a unique service for healthcare. On the surface, lockboxes appear the same; but they are not. The key to correct data for posting is in the preparation for processing and the advanced technology used to capture correct, complete data every time. The Medical Lockbox service supplies a seamless, transparent flow of remittances from payers and patients to the diversified remittance automation services provided by MediStreams.

Medical Lockbox is a critical first step. Payers route all provider payments to a PO Box specific for each provider. A single lockbox can accept all remittances including patient and miscellaneous payments, credit card transactions and correspondence. Healthcare lockbox specialists process all mail. They open, sort, prep, and scan all payments received paying close attention to detail and quality. There is no need to change the provider’s financial institution. A deposit occurs daily to the provider’s bank of choice.

The advantages are clear. A Medical Lockbox eliminates the manual, time-consuming, and error prone process while reducing errors downstream. Collection of payments through a lockbox provides both greater security and faster access to funds. Manual tasks of opening, sorting and daily trips to the bank are gone; giving back valuable time for staff to focus on an overall better patient experience.

Healthcare payment processing is complex. MediStreams works with their clients to define and address their unique set of billing challenges. No two are alike. They integrate with all major practice management and patient accounting systems, each with a unique set of business rules. The online Configuration Engine allows MediStreams to create custom output formats and split posting files using an online portal.

MediStreams is shaping the future for healthcare billing with innovative solutions. Cloud based. Easy to use. Secure and compliant, and highly customizable.

About MediStreams

MediStreams, LLC, supplies outsourced Healthcare Revenue Cycle Management services for healthcare billing entities. The services address automation for all payments and more: Medical Lockbox, Correspondence Workflow, ERA Normalization, Paper EOB Conversion, Patient Payments, Credit Card Processing, and Financial Reconciliation. The Team Type 1 Foundation Announces Partnership with VeloCity Cycling event supports Grady Health System

The third annual VeloCity event takes place on May 2nd and begins on the Mercedes-Benz Stadium field

“The Team Type 1 Foundation is honored to officially partner with such a beloved institution in Atlanta. Our alliance with VeloCity and the Grady Health Foundation allows us to continue increasing public awareness of diabetes,” Team Type 1 Foundation Founder and President Phil Southerland said.

The Team Type 1 Foundation, a nonprofit organization pursuing a global mission of education, empowerment, and equal access to medicine for everyone affected by diabetes, announced a partnership with VeloCity, a fundraising ride benefiting Grady Hospital, around the shared goals of wellness and cycling.

The third annual VeloCity event takes place on May 2nd and begins on the Mercedes-Benz Stadium field and ends at the Home Depot Backyard. The event, designed for cyclists of all experience levels, features four full-supported routes ranging from a 62-100 mile pro ride, a 20-mile beginner option, and a seven-mile kids ride. Additionally, there will be indoor cycling classes taking place at the Home Depot Backyard. In 2019, more than 1,330 riders participated in the event, which is the only cycling event based in downtown Atlanta.

“The Team Type 1 Foundation is honored to officially partner with such a beloved institution in the Atlanta area. Our alliance with VeloCity and the Grady Health Foundation allows us to continue increasing public awareness of diabetes and showing what’s possible with the condition,” Team Type 1 Foundation Founder and President Phil Southerland said. “Frequently people with type 1 diabetes are told they cannot participate in sports. The Team Type 1 Foundation works to change the perception of diabetes and sports, and together with VeloCity, we are eager to empower people to get out and ride.”

“There are few things more important than the overall health of our community. VeloCity was created three years ago to help fund the care that Grady provides to thousands of patients every year and to create an opportunity to bring our city together in a way that celebrates wellness,” Grady Health Foundation President Joselyn Baker added. “We could not be more excited about this partnership with Team Type 1 and look forward not only to cheering on their team this May but to working together to grow this into one of Atlanta’s marquis sporting events.”

There is much more to the VeloCity event than just riding. It kicks off with a group pre-ride breakfast and concludes with a post-ride celebration with lunch, drinks, music and amenities such as a shower trailer, massage tent and activities for kids.

Medalist Sports, who are known for putting on large scale cycling events like the Tour of California, handle the management of the event. All rides are fully supported with rest stops every 10 miles, support vehicles, and a rider tracking system.

The Team Type 1 Foundation has pledged to raise more than $100,000 around the event. As part of its fundraising efforts, the Team Type 1 Foundation will bring riders from the Team Novo Nordisk development team, all who race with type 1 diabetes.

To register:

To support the Team Type 1 Foundation for this year’s VeloCity event, please visit http://give.gradyhealthfoundation.org/goto/TeamType1 and register.

All participants receive a t-shirt and SWAG bag. Funds raised by the event support Grady’s comprehensive, lifesaving trauma and emergency services, which are used by over 150,000 patients every year (400+ visits/day).

Georgetown Home Care’s hospital readmission rate for 2019 was 4.7 percent, a 29 percent drop year over year. GHC’s skilled nursing facility (SNF) rehospitalization rate was 0 percent in 2019. When compared to the US national averages, these results are remarkable. The US national readmission rate for hospitals in 2019 was 14.7 percent, the US national skilled nursing facility rehospitalization rate was 22.3. Overall Georgetown Home Care has seen a significant decrease in the readmission rate with every partner hospital and SNF it works with, contributing to the great success GHC saw last year; and continues to build on in 2020.

“We work very closely with our partner hospitals and skilled nursing facilities to create good transitions of care from facility to home, said John Bradshaw, CEO of Georgetown Home Care. “Once the patient is home, our team focuses their attention closely on the key causes of preventable readmissions. We are so happy that our efforts were so successful last year.”

Georgetown Home Care knows that in order to have a significant impact on reducing preventable readmissions and rehospitalizations the focus must be on not only the key causes, but also the understanding that as a company it plays a key role in the patient-centric care system. Home care providers have the unique position of being with a client/patient more than any other of his/her care providers. The impact can be very meaningful.

Discover the BPM+ Health Community at the HIMSS20 Conference

https://www.bpm-plus.org/

BPM+ Health members are developing a common language and approach that will improve clinical practices globally, resulting in better health outcomes at reduced cost.

BPM+ Health, a community initiative to improve the quality and consistency of healthcare delivery, announced that it will participate in the HIMSS20 Global Health Conference & Exhibition, March 9 – 13, 2020, in Orlando, Florida. BPM+ Health will engage healthcare professionals and other stakeholders at HIMSS20 – the largest global health information and technology event – discussing its work to improve the quality and consistency of patient outcomes through the creation of open notational standards, supporting workflow and clinical pathways to fill a void that exists today.

“Many healthcare providers find it challenging to leverage and disseminate evidence-based practices to the point of care, which is intensified as patients navigate between care organizations,” said Ken Rubin, Acting Convener of the BPM+ Health community, and Director of Standards and Interoperability, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. “BPM+ Health members are developing a common language and approach that will improve clinical practices globally, resulting in better health outcomes at reduced cost, enabling contributors and consumers to advance their care practices without usurping their intellectual property.”

One of the first deliverables of the community is the Field Guide to Shareable Clinical Pathways, which supports the implementation of clinical guidelines and protocols to enable sharing between organizations. BPM+ Health operates as a non-profit industry trade consortium, and is open to all interested parties. With stakeholders representing multiple interests, including vendors, healthcare providers, professional societies and others, there are dedicated, focused communities-of-practice around all aspects of workflows, from authoring to adoption to implementation, in both clinical and administrative domains.

BPM+ Health Community at HIMSS20

Some of the most trusted names in the health community, including healthcare providers and vendors, have joined BPM+ Health and will be exhibiting at HIMSS20. You can find a listing of BPM+ Health-related sessions, demonstrations and booths from organizations participating at HIMSS20 here.

Be sure to attend these use case sessions given by BPM+ Health member companies:

Veteran Care without Boundaries – Demonstrates the automation and orchestration of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and U.S. Department of Defense Clinical Practice Guidelines for Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) using industry standards. Veterans’ journeys will be orchestrated in real time: identifying emerging risks, mitigating CKD impacts and preventing a lifetime of costly dialysis appointments. It includes end-user application workflow integration and plug n’ play clinical decision support (CDS) tools from an ecosystem of partners. BPM+ Health member participants: Perspecta, RedHat, Trisotech and MDIX. Location: Interoperability Pavilion; Time: Tours start every 45 minutes

Care without Boundaries: Using Standards to Automate Data, Knowledge and Process Exchange across a Federated Landscape – Focuses on the incorporation of the standards for terminology, data exchange, process automation and knowledge endpoints to automate the delivery of best practice guidelines across the patient’s journey to make healthcare cheaper, better, faster and more satisfying for all stakeholders. BPM+ Health member participants: University of Utah, industry supporter HSPC and Perspecta Labs. Location: Interoperability Showcase Education Theater; Time: Tuesday, March 10, from 1:30pm – 2:30pm

A Shareable Clinical Pathway for Anemia Management – A shareable clinical pathway is a visual decision model that is both human readable and machine automatable. Such a standardized workflow can improve the efficiency and quality of healthcare processes. Session presents models for the diagnosis and management of anemia and demonstrates the automation capability of BPM+ Health. This session is led by BPM+ Health member Trisotech. Location: Innovation Live, Theater; Time: Wednesday, March 11 from 11:45am – 12:05pm

From Evidence to Encounter: Accelerating Clinical Quality – The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has engaged the BPM+ Health community to apply the use of formal expression language BPM+ to document care pathways. This will not only make care pathways easier to document, it will also help mitigate inherent risks and gaps in care that might occur across care transitions, improve VA compliance with established industry clinical best practices and position the VA to adopt new care pathways more effectively and rapidly. This session also discusses how existing paper-based pathways can be adapted, allowing for improved care and more effective care transitions between external partners. BPM+ Health member participants: U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, American College of Emergency Physicians. Location: Hall E – Booth 8300 – Education Theater; Time: Thursday, March 12 from 11:30 – 12:30
