Reflect Innovation Raises $3 Million in Seed Funding

News Image

Born out of my personal struggles with stress and anxiety, our breakthrough tactile Orb boosts relaxation and wellbeing – which is something we could all use in these times.

Reflect Innovation, an award-winning company that creates biofeedback devices to improve users’ wellbeing, has raised $3 million in seed funding from Joy Ventures; to date the company has secured over $4 million in funding.

Reflect has created an entirely new consumer experience by delivering the therapeutic power of biofeedback through the company’s first product, the Reflect Orb, which is a soft textile-wrapped device. The Orb measures and analyzes users’ stress through their fingers by tracking changes in physiological signals, and displays users’ emotional state in real-time through changing LED lights. The result is a calming experience that also provides insight into your physical, mental, and emotional state.

Reflect was conceived in 2018 by Noga Sapir, whose background lies at the intersection of neuroscience and textile design. Realizing that the softness and warmth of textiles could help mitigate the cold and impersonal experience of using technology, she founded Reflect to create devices that fit seamlessly into daily routines and that would be a source of relief and joy in a user’s wellness journey and navigation of stress. On the heels of a successful user study conducted in 2020 with 100 participants, Reflect plans to use its seed funding to accelerate mass production and hire for key roles ahead of the Orb’s e-commerce launch in late 2021.

“Born out of my personal struggles with stress and anxiety, our breakthrough tactile Orb boosts relaxation and wellbeing – which is something we could all use in these times,” notes CEO Sapir. “Millions of people battle with the same challenges, and I want our products to make it easy for them to carve out daily moments of calm.”

“As early as the prototype phase, we realized the enormous potential Reflect’s unique product has to create meaningful impact for its users through a winning combination of human centered design, proven biofeedback methodology and a joyful consumer experience,” said Miri Polachek, CEO, Joy Ventures. “Working with Noga to bring her vision to life these past two years has been an exciting journey for us at Joy, and we are thrilled to continue supporting Noga and team as they progress towards launching the Reflect Orb, which we are confident will foster long-lasting positive change in consumer’s daily lives.”

The Lipo Group Introduces Signature Packages, Making Liposuction a Seamless and Affordable Experience in New York

The Lipo Group is a leading expert in body contouring procedures in New York, delivering exceptional outcomes by utilizing the minimally-invasive and innovative techniques of liposuction. Since its founding, the clinic has been implementing the latest liposuction approach, rendering premium comfort for the patient and patented methods in body enhancements to help achieve individual aesthetic goals. Now, the clinic offers patented procedure packages, making the combination treatments more affordable and customized to patients seeking body contouring. The offer includes the Nova package focusing on Lipo360, the Vixen package – the signature Mommy Makeover – with Lipo360, tummy tuck, breast correction, and the Penelope package referred to as the Mini Mommy Makeover with Lipo360, mini tuck, and fat transfer.

“Our secret lies in our ability to connect wholeheartedly with the patient, to understand the various concerns that the stubborn fat often triggers, and provide the best solutions and appropriate knowledge that will ultimately lead to long-lasting, beautiful effects,” explains one of the practicing surgeon’s at The Lipo Group, “In the world of aesthetic medicine, board certification is sadly not enough to initiate a smile on a patient’s face when they take the first look into the mirror. Effective liposuction requires additional expert skills, an artistic eye that is almost always an inner instinct, superb precision, and the implementation of techniques that sufficiently minimize the post-operative side effects, such as pain and swelling. Only then can we deliver state-of-the-art results of safe and aesthetically-pleasing body contouring,” adds the expert.

How to effortlessly slim the belly and give the figure hourglass proportions? The question reigns on the internet, social media, and plastic surgery clinics, including The Lipo Group, which has performed hundreds of prizewinning liposuction procedures. The answer is quite simple yet very promising in the modern aesthetic medicine industry. Liposuction is a surgical miracle, getting rid of inches that draconian diets or hectoliters of sweat poured out at the gym cannot tackle. By combining relevant techniques and procedures, the makeover is intensified, guaranteeing outstanding results.

The general health of a potential patient is the first determinant for the treatment’s candidacy. Liposuction is not a weight-loss procedure but rather a way to reduce fat deposits in otherwise healthy individuals with a relatively average and stable weight. Equally important is introducing healthy eating habits and an active lifestyle after the treatment to promote its longevity and best long-term results.

Maggie Hsu, a Leading Voice in the Convergence of Technology and Wellness, Joins the Global Wellness Summit Advisory Board

The GWS announced the appointment of Maggie Hsu, Global Business Development for Amazon Web Services’ blockchain product, Amazon Managed Blockchain, to its advisory board.

…Maggie’s deep expertise in tech innovation, including the blockchain, will help GWS chart the future with a deeper understanding of all the opportunities tech can deliver to the health and wellness communities.

The Global Wellness Summit (GWS), an organization at the heart of the multitrillion-dollar global wellness economy focused on facilitating collaboration, today announced the appointment of Maggie Hsu, Global Business Development for Amazon Web Services’ blockchain product, Amazon Managed Blockchain, to its advisory board.

In 2017, Hsu served as one of the co-chairs of the 11th annual Summit, sharing her experience as chief of staff to Tony Hsieh, former CEO of online retailer Zappos.com, as the company developed its unique workplace wellness culture/vision and embarked upon the revitalization of Downtown Las Vegas. Hsu also participated in the 2015 Roundtable hosted by the Global Wellness Institute (GWI) on “Redefining Workplace Wellness.”

Prior to that, Hsu served as Director of Strategy for Brands & Commercial Services at Hilton Worldwide and a consultant at McKinsey & Company. In addition, she co-founded Gold House and Mochi Magazine, both nonprofits focused on helping Asian-Americans flourish in life and business. Hsu is a Cornell Institute for Healthy Futures Industry Scholar and holds undergraduate and MBA degrees from Harvard University.

“The impact—and acceleration—technology is making on the wellness industry borders on mind-boggling,” said Susie Ellis, chair and CEO of GWS. “From on-demand fitness everywhere to meditation apps, health trackers, ingestible body sensors and so much more, technology is a critical component of wellness moving forward, and Maggie’s deep expertise in tech innovation, including the blockchain, will help GWS chart the future with a deeper understanding of all the opportunities tech can deliver to the health and wellness communities.”

In 2018, Hsu led a special event for GWI Ambassadors, discussing blockchain, cryptocurrency and wellness. “Joining the GWS board is a real honor, and it gives me a unique opportunity to further what I believe is a very relevant conversation around the issues that blockchain technology can solve for the wellness industry—and, importantly, for the wellness consumer,” said Hsu. “There are many areas where the wellness industry can benefit from creating a decentralized trust system across multiple parties—whether it’s to give back control of an individual’s data to themselves versus storing everything in a centralized database or to develop a rewards program that is able to monitor wellness activities and reward users with digital tokens.”

Hsu joins an esteemed group of health and wellness-minded leaders who serve as Advisory Board members for GWS.

About the Global Wellness Summit: The Global Wellness Summit is an organization that brings together leaders and visionaries to positively shape the future of the $4.5 trillion global wellness economy. In addition to an annual conference held at a different location around the globe, GWS also hosts regular virtual gatherings, including Wellness Master Classes and collaborative Wellness Sector Spotlights. The organization’s annual Global Wellness Trends Report offers expert-based predictions on the future of wellness. The 2021 GWS will be held in Tel Aviv, Israel, in November 2021.

Platform Science Spotlights Driver Health and Wellness with Addition of Rolling Strong to Growing App Marketplace

Rolling Strong’s truck driver-focused health and wellness app as seen on an in-vehicle mobile device

The health, wellness and satisfaction of the drivers who transport every aspect of our lives is a crucial component to ensuring fleets are successful and our economy stays afloat

Platform Science, a leading connected vehicle platform, today announced the addition of driver-focused health and wellness app, Rolling Strong, to its marketplace of industry-leading apps. Through this partnership, fleets will be able to offer Rolling Strong to their drivers, in support of a fleet’s mission to keep their drivers more healthy, alert and focused. As with any solution in the Platform Science marketplace, fleets have the flexibility and freedom to choose any app at any time. The addition of Rolling Strong to the growing Platform Science marketplace highlights how leveraging technology can vastly grow a healthy driver community, and ultimately, improve safety all around.

“The health, wellness and satisfaction of the drivers who transport every aspect of our lives is a crucial component to ensuring fleets are successful and our economy stays afloat,” said Thomas Colby, SVP Partner Ecosystem of Platform Science. “Our technology makes it possible for third party apps, such as Rolling Strong, to be integrated onto the systems of all our fleet partners, and we’ll continue to add more apps that serve drivers and meet their specific needs on and off the road.”

The Rolling Strong health and wellness mobile app offers features that drivers can always have at hand, wherever their mobile device is located, including:

  • Nutrition Guidance including meal suggestions and predictive nutrition based on location, truck stop, restaurant and food item search capabilities, as well as daily food logging with calorie counts and targets
  • Exercise Programs with guided workout routines, designed to be done anywhere without the need for a gym, based on personalized preferences with duration and intensity choices, and daily step tracking with an integrated wearable activity tracker
  • Sleep time and pattern tracking with an integrated wearable activity tracker, and CPAP integration
  • Personal Health Records including biometric data from physicians, wellness coaches or health check stations
  • DOT certification reminders when medical evaluations are due and when medical certificates need to be renewed
  • The ability to connect with a wellness coach

Leading fleets, including Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT), have used the Rolling Strong app across its fleet to ensure the health and wellness of its drivers.

“At MVT, we are pleased with having Rolling Strong as our driver’s wellness program,” said Royal Jones, president of Mesilla Valley Transportation. “Rolling Strong provides a platform and service that focuses on the health and wellbeing of drivers. Our drivers can check their weight and vitals at each of our terminals. It lets them know upfront if their blood pressure is high and indicates if there may be other health concerns that need to be addressed. Having the app and a wellness coach talk to our drivers about proper diet and fun new ways to exercise while on the road is priceless. These things are just extra care that we can give our drivers to make them feel better about their health and job at MVT.”

“We are encouraged to have a partner like Platform Science who recognizes the importance of making driver health tools available,” said Stephen Kane, president of Rolling Strong. “As a former professional driver, I especially appreciate the approach Platform Science is taking to provide meaningful apps for drivers on one device. Today, more than ever considering the driver shortage, an aging workforce and now the COVID-19 pandemic, we need to support the long term health of the driver population. Rolling Strong is glad to be joining with Platform Science to make its mobile wellness app available through their platform to support driver health and safety.”

The Rolling Strong app will be available in the Platform Science marketplace by the end of 2021.
