Big Easy Ranch Announces Groundbreaking Of An 18-Hole Golf Course

Big Easy Ranch announced the groundbreaking of its new 18-hole championship golf course will take place September 17, 2021.

Chet Williams Design was selected to design the 18-hole golf course complementing the original nine-hole golf course that he also designed. Williams is widely known for many notable course designs and redesigns including top-rated golf courses in Texas and beyond. As Williams stated, “I am very excited to be selected to design the new 18-hole golf course at Big Easy Ranch in Columbus, Texas. There are quite a few remodels and renovations in progress across the country, however this will be one of the very few new courses under construction. The property is ideal for a championship golf course, with 80 feet of elevation changes, natural creeks, beautiful native vegetation and mature oak trees, providing the framework for what will be one of the best courses in the state and the country. I couldn’t be more excited about this project and carrying out Billy Brown’s vision.”

The 18-hole golf course was carefully placed on the 2,000 acre property to take full advantage of the unique terrain that will include several elevation changes with 80-foot drops from tee to fairway, tree lined fairways, natural running creeks and waterfalls. The par 72 course will boast over 7400 yards with multiple tee boxes, Zeon Zoysia fairways and rough and TifEagle greens providing for the best playing and course conditions for the area. Owner Billy Brown states “I have always had a passion for golf and dreamed of designing a golf course of my own. Working with Chet, I am confident that we will have a top rated golf course in Texas and beyond.” The 18-hole golf course will be an added amenity to the existing nine-hole golf course, practice facilities and The Golf Academy teaching facility. Course construction will begin September 2021 with completion scheduled for September 2022.

Set on the property’s highest elevation, a second clubhouse/lodge will provide 360° views of the golf courses and hunting areas. The 24,000 square foot clubhouse will boast lounge areas, a full service bar, dining areas, wine room and upscale locker rooms for both men and women. The clubhouse will reflect the rustic sophistication of the original Big Easy Lodge with soaring ceilings, wooden beams, stone fireplace and outdoor verandas.

Additional expansion plans include real estate opportunities with estate lots ranging from 2/3 acre to over one acre with custom homes as well as fractional ownership villas. FP Movement to Open in Washington, D.C.


FP Movement, Free People’s activewear line, is opening a new location in Washington, D.C on Friday September 3rd, 2021.

FP Movement, established in 2014, offers performance ready activewear, beyond the gym staples, and a hand-picked assortment of nourishing supplements and elixirs to support your practice from the inside out.

Customers will be able to shop the core collections from FP Movement at this location. Featuring the Good Karma collection, an assortment of leggings, bras, tanks and more with a barely there feel perfect for a range of workouts. The Hot Shot collection, a breathable and super soft assortment of leggings, shorts and more, perfect for lounging and running errands. In addition, more collections will be available including the Happiness Runs, Way Home and You’re A Peach. Customers can expect to find styles that would work for all fitness and lifestyle needs. The boutique will also carry clean beauty and wellness items to support your practice from within.

The new single level 3,298 gross-square-foot boutique is in an outdoor shopping mall at 1063 Wisconsin Ave NW, Washington, DC 20007. The storefront façade features a faux limewash finish in ‘Movement Pink’ with a white concrete base. In addition, a 12”H ‘FP Movement’ sign surface mounted to the wall with a painted bhutti logo will be embedded in the wall behind and lit from above with linear led lights. There will be two cashwraps located to the back right as you enter the store for customers to complete purchases. Four fitting rooms will be available, featuring 3-way backlit mirrors with dimmer switch for lighting adjustments in each stall, hooks, shelves with phone charging outlets, and curtains designed just for Movement stores.

To celebrate the store opening, FP Movement will be hosting an event on Sunday September 19th from 9AM-1PM. The event will begin with intention with Alex Elle, a high intensity interval training with Barry’s and a low impact burner with Kallie House. Elm Grove Community Foundation Expands Oktoberfest to two days to support community projects


Oktoberfest celebrates our community, and we love its traditions and the togetherness it brings

The sights, sounds and tastes of Germany are making their way to Elm Grove Village Park. The 5th Annual Elm Grove Community Foundation Oktoberfest, presented by Annex Wealth Management/Annex Charitable Foundation, kicks off in Elm Grove Park on Friday, September 17 at 5 pm with a ceremonial keg tapping, German and local beers, live music, and a Fish Fry. The fun continues Saturday, September 18 at 3:30 pm with a 0.5K Fun Run, followed by the traditional Oktoberfest celebration, with authentic live German music, festive food from food trucks, activities, and lots of local and German beer options. “We’re honored to once again support one of our favorite Elm Grove traditions,” said Dave Spano, President and CEO, Annex Wealth Management. “Oktoberfest celebrates our community, and we love its traditions and the togetherness it brings,“ With an expected crowd of over 4,000 people attending the festivities, the Community Foundation is excited to showcase live local music performances by Julien Kozak and The Jeff Winard Band sponsored by Elliot’s Ace Hardware.

In addition to live music on the Honest Teeth Dentistry Alpine Yodeler stage, Oktoberfest will again feature a large Bier und Wine tent sponsored by Leinenkugel’s, a variety of food trucks including Hue Asian Kitchen and Nothing Bundt Cakes, as well as German and American food, pretzels and more. Attendees can participate in several traditional Oktoberfest games including Raise Your Pint on the Zisters/Hermanas stage, Hammerschlagen and a lederhosen/dirndl contest sponsored by Damage Control and Vantage Financial. There will also be a photo booth sponsored by Dental Associates to capture your Oktoberfest memories.

“Oktoberfest is becoming a local tradition as village residents and others gather each fall weekend to celebrate with one another and raise money for community projects.” said John Meser, President, Elm Grove Community Foundation. “We are excited to expand the festivities to Friday night this year and offer a fish fry, another well-known Wisconsin tradition.”

Based on its sold-out success in 2018 and 2019, the 0.5K Fun Run is now a permanent addition to Elm Grove Oktoberfest. “The World’s Most Important Race in the History of the World, Ever” is a tongue-in-cheek event that not only lampoons the typical 5K, but also those made-for-overachievers-obstacle-course-adventure-races (warning, this race is too short for adventure racing which means there is no adventure racing)! This race, which commences at 3:30 pm, is more of a walk/run beer parade from O’Donoghue’s Irish Pub, this year’s premier Race Sponsor, to the Village Park Oktoberfest grounds to kick off the day’s festivities. Adults over 21 will enjoy some great brews along the way. Registered runners/walkers get a race t-shirt, a beer at the start, at the half-way point and at the finish line which is our Oktoberfest beer tent. Children are encouraged to participate and will enjoy root beer along the course.

Official Auto Sponsor, Uptown Motors Automotive Group, will provide a pace car this year to ensure runners don’t veer off the course and once again offer shuttles to and from the race start line and to the park for the Oktoberfest celebration. Other race sponsors include Bib sponsor, The Richfield Companies, LLC, and Packet Pick Up sponsor Waukesha State Bank.

Admission to Oktoberfest is FREE and registration for the 0.5K is $35 (you can register online at our website). The Oktoberfest celebration will take place rain or shine. Since the Badger and the Packers won’t be playing at home, the foundation hopes that village residents along with family and friends will join us for another fun and memorable Oktoberfest celebration. We have plenty of volunteer opportunities available if you are interested in earning volunteer hours or just want to help.
