2023 Corrective Exercise Specialist of the Year Award Recipient Named

CES of the Year Ryan Vivar

Corrective Exercise Specialist of the Year® Ryan Vivar

Everyone can benefit from postural assessments and corrective exercise techniques.

The BioMechanics Method, the highest-rated provider of corrective exercise education for fitness, exercise and health professionals, is pleased to name Ryan Vivar as the Corrective Exercise Specialist of the Year® for 2023. The Corrective Exercise Specialist of the Year award recognizes an individual who is certified in The BioMechanics Method, currently providing corrective exercise services to clients/patients, and has demonstrated exceptional application of their corrective exercise skills.

Ryan, based in Oklahoma City, is widely considered to be the most respected exercise professional for post-rehab individuals and those with medical conditions in the state of Oklahoma. A highly-skilled and motivated exercise professional with over 15 years and 40,000 hours of personal training experience, Ryan has a proven track record of providing safe, purposeful, and effective exercise programs for disease prevention, serious medical conditions, neuromuscular disorders, and chronic pain. His life-changing programs have helped transform individuals from all walks of life and his client base includes many of Oklahoma’s top doctors, executives, entrepreneurs, and professionals.

In addition to earning his corrective exercise credential from The BioMechanics Method (TBMM-CES) in 2017, Ryan also holds numerous certifications in applied functional science, active aging, disease recovery, and medical exercise. As the owner of Ryan Vivar Fitness, a state-of-the-art personal training studio in downtown Oklahoma City, Ryan believes everyone can benefit from postural assessments and corrective exercise techniques.

“The BioMechanics Method has served as a foundation to many of my programs and I believe it should be the first step in the training process for most individuals,” says Vivar. “It is truly one of the most useful programs an exercise professional could ever take.”

As a pioneer in medical fitness training, Ryan has been bridging the gap between healthcare and fitness for more than 10 years. His corrective exercise training programs receive recognition from fitness authorities and the medical community, including physicians and physical therapists in the Oklahoma City metro area, specialists at the Cleveland Clinic, MD Anderson, and UCLA Health. Ryan’s clients also praise his work and remarkable program outcomes.

“When I first got out of the rehabilitation hospital I used a walker to make it to my mailbox. Thanks to working with Ryan, I progressed to walking the two mile Alzheimer’s walk, and no longer use a walker or cane. My strength has improved dramatically which has given me the confidence to return to work. The quality of life has returned, and I have God, the prayers of friends and family, and Ryan Vivar to thank for that,” says one grateful individual.

Prior to receiving the Corrective Exercise Specialist of the Year® award from The BioMechanics Method, Ryan was a finalist for the 2021 Medical Fitness Professional of the Year, and nominated for Best Personal Trainer in Oklahoma City in 2022, IDEA Personal Trainer of the Year in 2020, and named as one of the Top 10 Personal Trainers in the World in 2014. He has also been a featured fitness professional and named an ACE All Star by The American Council on Exercise.

“Meeting Justin Price (The BioMechanics Method creator) in 2013 at an ACE Symposium and learning about corrective exercise was truly a career shifting experience and I am grateful for this award,” Vivar says.

As the 2023 Corrective Exercise Specialist of the Year, Ryan will serve as a spokesperson on corrective exercise for The BioMechanics Method. He also receives an award trophy, a prize package from The BioMechanics Method, a membership with IDEA Health & Fitness Association and equipment from industry leaders BOSU® and TRX Training.

Finalists for the 2023 Corrective Exercise Specialist of the Year® award were Lynne Olsen, Yoga Medicine Therapeutic Specialist and owner of Rolling Brook Yoga in Catonsville, MD and Rhonda Collins, owner of Body Longevity in Brisbane, Australia. Rhonda is a two-time finalist for this award.

YMCA of the USA Announces Partnership with MissionSquare Foundation to Strengthen Youth Civic Engagement, Give Future Leaders a Voice

Y logo

“We are grateful to MissionSquare Foundation for its generous support of the Y and its partnership in developing leaders who are civic-minded and prepared to work collaboratively toward solutions to challenges facing communities, today and in the future.”

YMCA of the USA (Y-USA), the national resource office for the 2,600+ YMCAs across the country, is pleased to announce the launch of a $1.9 million multi-year national partnership with MissionSquare Foundation. This partnership will provide support to implement the Youth and Government ® program in 10 states and the District of Columbia, helping shape the next generation of thoughtful, committed and active citizens.

Since 1936, YMCA Youth and Government has offered students across the country the opportunity to serve their schools, communities, states and nation through model government, civic engagement, advocacy, leadership and character development, service-learning and more to amplify youth voice and strengthen youth civic health.

MissionSquare Foundation, launched in 2022, is focused on strengthening communities by supporting the long-term wellbeing of youth. A core component of the Foundation’s efforts includes cultivating civic-mindedness, critical thinking and leadership skills in future leaders.

Partnering with the Y establishes a strong alignment of both organizations’ values, specifically through the YMCA Youth and Government program. Engaging the next generation in civic programming gives youth a voice in helping to solve community challenges, ensures that our local communities can thrive and serves as a critical step towards a long-term solution for improving our civic discourse.

MissionSquare Foundation was the sponsor of this year’s Youth Governors Conference, supporting student participation and conference execution. They also awarded the inaugural MissionSquare Bridgebuilder Award to Arushi Bansal and Conner Brumley of Kentucky, whose community project of Common Ground in the Commonwealth, a podcast series focused on encouraging and supporting students of diverse political viewpoints to have productive conversations regarding pressing issues, was chosen to be rolled out in their community. This collaborative project’s goal is to help empower younger generations to find common ground in their beliefs regardless of political views, and to promote civic engagement and constructive discourse. Bansal and Brumley will receive a $5,000 implementation award from MissionSquare Foundation. MissionSquare Foundation’s support for this year’s Youth Governors Conference and Bridgebuilder Award brings its overall partnership commitment to over $2 million.

Through this partnership, MissionSquare Foundation is helping close the youth civic engagement gap by connecting students to opportunities that strengthen the civic health of communities. This support increases student access to the YMCA Youth and Government program in communities nationwide. Funding will support expanding the program into schools and communities that don’t currently have one, and help programs reach previously unengaged students. In this first year of the partnership, MissionSquare Foundation will provide funding to Ys in the following locations:

California: YMCA of Greater Long Beach

Colorado: YMCA of Pueblo

District of Columbia: YMCA of Metropolitan Washington

Florida: YMCA of the Treasure Coast

Illinois: YMCA of Rock River Valley

Maryland: YMCA of Frederick County

Missouri: Gateway Region YMCA

North Carolina: YMCA of Northwest North Carolina

Oregon: YMCA of Grants Pass Oregon

Virginia: Bedford Family YMCA, Piedmont Family YMCA and YMCA at Virginia Tech

Washington: South Sound YMCA

“Through programs like Youth and Government, the Y empowers young people to reach their full potential as engaged citizens and community leaders,” said Suzanne McCormick, President and CEO of Y-USA. “We are grateful to MissionSquare Foundation for its generous support of the Y and its partnership in developing leaders who are civic-minded and prepared to work collaboratively toward solutions to challenges facing communities, today and in the future.”

“We are thrilled to partner with Y-USA to expand access to their Youth and Government program at a time when civic engagement has never been more important,” said Deanna Santana, Acting CEO and President of MissionSquare Retirement. “As an organization rooted in serving those who serve our communities, we are invigorated by the opportunity to help give our youth the resources, tools and knowledge they need to tackle community challenges. Today more than ever, it is critical that our youth learn to organize and mobilize for their interests. Our children are the future and supporting their civic engagement is foundational to a strong democracy.”

David Ensignia Tennis Academy and DETA Pickleball Club announce free court time, clinics for tennis and pickleball players

David Ensignia Tennis Academy and DETA Pickleball Club team up with Break the Love.

David Ensignia Tennis Academy and DETA Pickleball Club team up with Break the Love.

We’re excited to expand our programming to meet the needs of active adults and to make our pickleball courts available to everyone at no cost thanks to Break the Love and Walmart.

Tennis and pickleball players 55+ can now reserve pickleball courts and take advantage of tennis clinics offered by David Ensignia Tennis Academy and its affiliate, the DETA Pickleball Club, at no cost during certain weekday hours from June through September.

And to ensure no one feels left out, David Ensignia Tennis Academy and DETA Pickleball Club have teamed up with Walmart to provide free access to tennis and pickleball courts during certain hours every day of the week. Via Break the Love, an organization that makes racquet sports accessible (whether through courts, classes or clinics), players can reserve courts at Break the Love at no cost by simply showing a Walmart receipt.

“There’s no better time than now to start playing tennis or pickleball,” said Jacit Gonzalez, business development manager for David Ensignia Tennis Academy and DETA Pickleball Club. “For active adults over 55, we’ve devised special open play times and clinics so they don’t have to fight for court time.”

David Ensignia Tennis Academy operates tennis courts at the Miccosukee Golf & Country Club in Kendall (eight courts), Continental Park in Kendall (eight courts), Coral Pine Park in Pinecrest (five courts) and Archimedean Academy (five courts). The tennis academy offers private and group lessons with Professional Tennis Registry-certified coaches. It also hosts local, regional and international tournaments and family events. Courts cost up to $10 to reserve depending on the location and time of day.

Pickleball, the nation’s fastest-growing sport, is booming in Miami-Dade County. But the limited number of courts, combined with confusing schedules at public parks, keep many from picking up a paddle. Dedicated players hop from park to park in search of a match. Busy open-play sessions often mean spending more time on the bench than in the game.

At DETA Pickleball Club at Miccosukee Golf & Country Club, the public has access to 16 dedicated pickleball courts, the most at any one location in Miami-Dade County. It’s also one of only three locations in the tri-county area with 16 or more courts. The club, which doesn’t require a membership or registration fee, offers round robins, ladders, tournaments and clinics. DETA also offers a DUPR rating program for pickleball players. Courts cost up to $10 to reserve.

“We offer a lot of options for players at different skill levels, including great events where they can play for fun, to improve their rating or compete for prizes,” said Stephane Jolicoeur, lead pro and director of DETA Pickleball Club. “We’re excited to expand our programming to meet the needs of active adults and to make our pickleball courts available to everyone at no cost thanks to Break the Love and Walmart.”

Octonic to Launch Public Offering in Support of it’s VR Fitness App

Invest in VR

Invest in VR

Octonic is an XR/VR software that connects mobile headsets with treadmills, allowing you to safely and comfortably exercise with friends in virtual worlds, without leaving your home or gym.

The future of fitness is now. Apple’s new XR headset will catalyze the XR industry, changing the way people communicate, work, train, and play forever, just as its iPhone did with the mobile industry and our lives in 2007. And Meta’s Quest 3 will continue to build on the brand’s mass-market appeal. Now is your opportunity to invest in an app, designed for XR headsets, that will revolutionize fitness.

On June 7th, right after Apple’s highly-anticipated introduction of their headset, Octonic, a NYC-based XR/VR fitness company, will be launching a public offering on StartEngine, enabling them to realize their full vision while helping runners and fitness enthusiasts alike exercise like never before. To learn more, investors can sign up to get the latest updates, and to reserve their spot in the public offering and get a special equity discount, they can register on Octonic’s StartEngine page.

Octonic is an XR/VR software that connects mobile headsets with treadmills, allowing you to safely and comfortably exercise with friends in virtual worlds, without leaving your home or gym. The app changes the treadmill workout from a boring, convenient exercise, to a fun, social, and gamified activity. Octonic also includes a non-treadmill mode that allows users to run in place without the need for a treadmill. Exercise anywhere, anytime, with whomever you want. Check out their promo video to see the product in action.

The app works with 99% of treadmills on the market in non-connected mode, where runners adjust the physical treadmill’s speed manually, utilizing a passthrough viewbox. The app also links with 40 treadmill brands in connected mode, allowing for full control over physical treadmills (start/stop, speed, etc.) from XR/VR through Bluetooth connectivity. Octonic’s Motion Engine precisely matches the physical treadmill speed with the XR/VR speed, greatly mitigating motion sickness risk, providing an extra level of safety, and empowering complete immersion. The app is currently available on Meta’s Quest 2 and Pro headsets, and soon will be available for the new Apple XR headset, as well as the Quest 3.Due to a 3-level proprietary safety system, XR treadmill running is as safe as non-XR running. Octonic’s safety features include positional awareness to give runners real-time info about their position on the treadmill belt, a departure warning system that gives runners visual and audio cues if they leave the safety zone, and a passthrough feature that gives runners the option to switch out of virtual reality and into a full passthrough view of the real world with the simple press of a button in their XR/VR controls. Octonic has maximized the current technology’s limits to achieve amazingly photorealistic worlds. In the past, they’ve designed a variety of game-like trails, ranging from forest environments to intergalactic stadiums. But after more than two years of work, they have now been able to achieve a new level of realism unparalleled with any other world they have built to-date. The first such world – Alien Invasion – has just been released and is receiving rave reviews from its early runners. In the coming weeks, Octonic will release two of their most visually advanced nature worlds: a trail through a natural winter environment, as well as a tropical island run.

Looking forward, the company will achieve even greater photorealism and ease of use as XR technology advances. In addition to Apple’s and Meta’s new XR headsets, this year alone will see the release of additional highly anticipated headsets like the HTC Vive XR Elite. This new generation of headsets will be smaller, lighter, and more powerful in performance, so consumers will be able to exercise comfortably while experiencing increasingly realistic visuals. Octonic’s software is sold through Meta’s AppLab and Walmart’s online stores, and to date, over 6,000 users have downloaded Octonic App. The team has also formalized partnerships with treadmill manufacturers, including their long-standing partner, NoblePro, and are in discussions with major fitness clubs to give members access to the app. This is just the beginning, and with your support, Octonic will play an important role in Apple’s XR/VR fitness ecosystem and the ecosystems of other mobile headset manufacturers, in addition to optimizing its product for the Meta Quest 3. The company’s next steps entail further developing the app and growing their marketing efforts, which is where the vast majority of the capital will be used.

The public offering launches on June 7th. Sign up with Octonic to take advantage of early time-based investment bonuses and register on StartEngine to reserve your spot in the campaign TODAY. Invest in the future of fitness with Octonic!

Hikers from Over 30 States, Canada and Europe Complete HIGHLANDER’s Second U.S. Event in Big Bear Lake

HIGHLANDER

HIGHLANDER, the world’s leading global long-distance hiking event series, opened this year’s global hiking season with its continued U.S. expansion in HIGHLANDER Big Bear Lake. Hosting over 200 participants from across 30+ states including Canada and Europe, adventure-seekers successfully completed the internationally acclaimed event series in the jewel of the San Bernardino National Forest in Southern California. The transformative event marked the second U.S. adventure for HIGHLANDER, where participants faced the ultimate test of physical and mental strength, disconnecting from their daily routines for an extraordinary expedition that will be remembered for a lifetime.

From May 24 –28, hikers ranging from seasoned professionals to novices completed HIGHLANDER Big Bear Lake, hiking distances from 17 to 103 miles, and concluded the program at Big Bear Mountain. Throughout the journey, attendees hiked a total of approximately 7,000 miles totaling more than 13,800 million steps. Participants ranging from ages two to 67, not only embarked on a long-distance hike, but participated in educational panels and retreat activities that provided a cognitive and reflective component to the experience.

The activities included a lecture from Dean Karnazes, one of TIME’s 100 Most Influential People in the World who has run 50 marathons, in all 50 US states, in 50 consecutive days. Other lecturers included Mike Sarraille, a retired U.S. Navy SEAL officer and founder of Legacy Expeditions and Talent War Group, as well as Jeffrey Scott Tatum, an outdoor enthusiast and mental health advocate who utilizes the outdoors for his own form of therapy and creates a platform to deliver powerful messages that bring a whole new spin to the ideas of self-care and healing. Participants also learned how to protect nature and the environment, relaxed with live music, and practiced yoga at the top of a mountain. Since HIGHLANDER is all about loving, exploring, preserving and keeping our nature untouched on their backpacking journeys, participants collected and cleaned 495 pounds of litter from Big Bear Lake’s nature.

“We are grateful for the tremendous success that HIGHLANDER has experienced for the second year running in Big Bear Lake, and for the unwavering support from our partners that helped make this year’s flagship event such an unforgettable journey,” said HIGHLANDER CEO Jurica Barac. “The determination and spirit demonstrated by our HIGHLANDER community has been inspiring. Each participant has shown remarkable physical and mental grit, and we’re excited to extend this extraordinary experience to even more adventurers worldwide.”

”Big Bear Lake was very excited to welcome HIGHLANDER back for a second year of adventure in our Alpine Mountains,” said Visit Big Bear CEO Michael Perry. “With over 300 sunny days a year, the nights were filled with all the brilliant stars our galaxy has to offer. Welcome to your California Mountains Adventure.”

For the first time ever, and exclusively in the U.S., participants embarked on an awe-inspiring journey spanning over 100 miles called HIGHLANDER Ursa Major, uncovering the captivating beauty and thrilling adventures of Big Bear Lake. A range of remarkable landscapes were explored on the trek to Bear Mountain, including Siberian Creek, Little Green Valley, Double Mine, Wild Burro Territory, and Cactus Flats, conquering a total ascent of 19,819 feet and descent of 18,717 feet, all while indulging in moments of tranquility, learning, and stargazing throughout.

Created with the complete spectrum of hiking experience levels in mind, HIGHLANDER was founded by three friends in Croatia that shared their passion for long-distance adventures in 2017null [. HIGHLANDER, the largest global hiking club, organizes hundreds of events that aim to enhance lives through long-distance hiking in over 20 countries around the world. By fostering self-reflection and enabling participants to conquer both physical and mental challenges on the trail, HIGHLANDER cultivates a sense of accomplishment, enlightenment, and a transformative perspective on life. __title__ null]

An additional HIGHLANDER adventure in the U.S. will take place in Kalispell this September. After the two wildly successful events in Big Bear Lake, HIGHLANDER has already launched registrations for 2024, and is returning to Big Bear Lake, California next June.

“Take only pictures, leave only footprints” is the leading principle for HIGHLANDER’s mission – the brand prioritizes sustainability as its core principle, providing education for effective nature preservation at all events hosted.

MD Logic Health And Well Minerals Embark On A Groundbreaking Partnership

Three bottles of More Chill Magnesium, a new supplement by Well Minerals Powered by MD Logic Health

Well Minerals Powered by MD Logic Health introduces More Chill Magnesium

“I am so thrilled to announce my partnership with MD Logic Health for the development of Well Minerals nutrient-dense supplements. I didn’t think it was possible to create a line that met my uncompromising standards, but MD Logic Health made it happen.” – Noelle Tarr, founder of Well Minerals.

In a transformative development, MD Logic Health (“MD Logic”), an American trailblazer in superior-grade nutraceuticals and physician-recommended dietary supplements, is excited to announce its monumental alliance with Well Minerals, a dynamic venture founded by Noelle Tarr. Tarr, a certified Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (NTP™) and Certified Personal Trainer is also the innovative creator/host behind the highly-rated health podcast, Well-Fed Women.

Out of this alliance, we unveil the first product of our collaborative efforts: the game-changing dietary supplement, More Chill Magnesium. This ground-breaking product offers a refined solution for sleep, mood, and memory support, reflecting the shared values of our brands to deliver pure, potent, and trusted supplements to our valued customers.

In our unwavering commitment to the health, wellness, and biohacking community, we’re committed to delivering purity-tested, clean products. Collaborating closely with the leading advocates and experts in the health and wellness sphere, we’re ambitiously forging ahead to create environmentally friendly and sustainable packaged supplements that uphold the highest standards of integrity and innovation.

To provide superior Well Minerals products, we, at MD Logic Health, are tirelessly improving our clean manufacturing and small-batch production process. With double the lab testing, we’re meeting and even exceeding the rigorous standards of Noelle Tarr and the dedicated followers of the Well-Fed Women podcast.

More Chill Magnesium stands as a beacon of innovation, featuring the Chelated Magnesium Lysinate Glycinate — a form of magnesium known for its high absorption and bioavailability, paired effortlessly with L-Theanine. Magnesium is universally recognized for its mood and sleep-enhancing properties. We chose Magnesium Lysinate Glycinate for our formula because it’s easily absorbed by the body and highly effective, and less likely to upset your stomach or cause other discomforts. The inclusion of L-Theanine, an amino acid found in green tea, provides a “more chill” caffeine vibe than coffee and it may help reduce stress-related symptoms and promote a serene mood and focus, cementing More Chill Magnesium as the first of many stellar mineral blend supplements in our collaboration.

More Chill Magnesium exemplifies purity and cleanliness. Our dedicated team at MD Logic Health has ensured it is free from additives such as stearates, palmitates, silica, and dioxides, along with rice, soy products, phthalates, and any artificial colors or flavors. Upholding a non-GMO standard, it features vegetarian capsules and is allergen-free, devoid of common allergens such as wheat, gluten, shellfish, tree nuts, dairy, peanuts, and yeast. Undergoing multiple rounds of testing, More Chill Magnesium is meticulously tested for potency, and purity, and is free of heavy metals and mold.

“I am so thrilled to announce my partnership with MD Logic Health for the development of Well Minerals nutrient-dense supplements. I didn’t think it was possible to create a line that met my uncompromising standards, but MD Logic Health made it happen. My goal with More Chill Magnesium was to create a highly absorbable magnesium supplement that supported a calm mood and wasn’t buffered with cheaper forms. I am so proud of what we have accomplished, and I’m excited to share More Chill Magnesium with the health and wellness community at large,” said Noelle Tarr, founder of Well Minerals.

Echoing her sentiments, Scott Emmens, COO and co-founder of MD Logic Health, shares, “our collaboration with Noelle resulted in an unparalleled product that aligns purity, sustainability, and efficacy. Embodying our dual commitment to product integrity and environmental responsibility, we are proud to present More Chill Magnesium in amber glass bottles. This choice reflects our pledge to help reduce plastic waste and microplastics, making our small yet significant contribution to a healthier planet. As part of our ongoing efforts, we continually explore innovative methods to secure a more sustainable future. This serves as a testament to our unwavering commitment to the environment and underlines the core values of the MD Logic Health and Well Minerals brands.”

With this partnership, we’re stepping into a future that’s filled with promise and exciting possibilities. Together, MD Logic Health and Well Minerals are set to make waves in the world of health and wellness.
