Skateboarding legend, Tony Hawk, partners with Groove Life, a Tennessee based company, to offer a safe metal ring alternative to fans and other athletes.

I don’t want to say I’m thankful for dislocating my fingers but it brought me here. So you know, if life hands you dislocated fingers, make signature rings.

Earlier this summer, Tony Hawk was invited to skate a backyard pool and was badly injured requiring him to be rushed to the hospital. By the time he arrived his fingers had swollen so badly that they had to cut off his sentimental silver band. “I was bummed because it was a ring my wife had given me but the damage was done,” Hawk recalls. After posting the photos of his dislocated fingers online, Groove Life reached out and sent him a selection of their silicone rings, perfect for his active lifestyle. After trying them and seeing how comfortable they were, Tony reached out to collaborate with the Tennessee company. “I don’t want to say I’m thankful for dislocating my fingers but it brought me here. So you know, if life hands you dislocated fingers, make signature rings.”

Groove Life is beyond excited to collaborate with the skating legend and have the opportunity to design rings using these iconic graphics including official Birdhouse Skateboard Deck artwork. Partnering with Tony Hawk on the perfect accessory for every skater or skateboarding fan who likes keeping their fingers intact, the Tony Hawk rings from Groove Life are perfect for added performance and breathability whether skating the vert ramp or the rails. Breathable grooves, a comfort inner band and breakaway safety gives the wearer more freedom to absolutely fly out there.

Tony Hawk has dominated the Action Sports market with his laid-back style for generations. He is the most recognized Action Sports figure in the world and, according to some, one of the most recognizable athletes in the United States. Today, his business skills have helped create a Tony Hawk brand that includes a billion-dollar video game franchise, successful businesses such as Birdhouse Skateboards, Hawk Clothing, and the Tony Hawk Signature Series sporting goods and toys. Groove Life is honored to be added to the list of Tony Hawk partners. “As a kid growing up in the 80s and 90s Tony Hawk was a hero of mine. He defines everything I love about skate culture and is an inspiring role model for so many generations. I am a huge fan of his Birdhouse skateboard artwork so it is a dream come true for us to be able to incorporate those elements and designs on our Groove Rings. He and his team have been fantastic partners to work with and we’re pumped for where this partnership will go!” – George Brooks, Groove Life CCO

Groove Ring Specs:

  • Low profile prevents snags
  • Air ports allow fingers to breathe

SweetLeaf Announces the Start of Pumpkin Spice Season With Its Zero Sugar Sweet Drops

News Image

In 2003, when a popular coffee retailer began selling pumpkin spice lattes, it started a trend that now takes place each autumn.

This year, pumpkin spice lovers can indulge in the taste of autumn without worrying about added sugars and calories thanks to SweetLeaf® Liquid Stevia Pumpkin Spice Sweet Drops®. The plant-based sweetener has zero sugars, calories, carbs, gluten, and artificial ingredients, making it an ideal choice for fans of the fall favorite seeking an alternative to the abundance of sugar-laden pumpkin spice snacks, recipes, and beverages.

The October 2019 issue of Prevention magazine listed SweetLeaf Pumpkin Spice as one of the “Pumpkin Spice Foods That Are Actually Good for You,” saying, “If you are looking to spice up your latte and watch your blood sugar, you may want to give this liquid stevia a try.”

Exclusively available online, Pumpkin Spice Sweet Drops has 288 servings in each 2-ounce bottle (use 5 drops per 8 ounces). The versatile drops can be used to add deliciously familiar taste to drinks like coffee and chai, breakfast foods like cereal and yogurt, and even flavor up baked goods like muffins, cookies, and cakes.

The best part about SweetLeaf Pumpkin Spice Sweet Drops is the opportunity it gives consumers to significantly reduce added sugars and calories in their favorite treats.

A pumpkin spice drink at a national coffee shop chain has about 380 calories, 52 grams of carbs, and 50 grams of sugar. SweetLeaf’s Paleo Sugar-Free Pumpkin Spice Latte, made with Pumpkin Spice Sweet Drops, has only 164 calories, 2 grams of carbs, and 0 grams of sugar. (Recipe and photo are courtesy of Sugar-Free Mom. New, High-Tech Blue Light Serum Shields Skin from Hazards of Screen Time

Blue Light Anti-Aging Screen Protector

“For as much time as we spend sitting in front of our computers and using our smartphones, our skin needs a protective shield against this damaging light that is absorbing it of the skin’s moisture.”

The environmentally-driven skincare brand, Amethyst Skincare, is introducing its latest game changing product: Blue Light Anti-Aging Screen Protector at a time when, on average, nearly 60% of people are spending more than 6 hours a day on a digital device. This high tech, protective daily serum is designed to shield the skin from the deleterious effects of blue light exposure, which we are inevitably exposed to every day – between smartphones, tablets, laptops, televisions – making this serum an essential daily must-have.

The proprietary ingredient blend, Pixel X Complex, acts as a digital barrier for High Energy Visible Light (HEV) to reduce more than 70 percent of skin damage from blue light overexposure. Unlike other blue light serums, Amethyst’s Pixel X Complex works as a triple threat with time released micro-encapsulated hyaluronic acid (HA) and citrus stem cells to neutralize skin damage, hydrate the skin throughout the day and repair cellular damage. The micro-encapsulated hyaluronic acid also releases HA over a 24-hour period to increase hydration levels lost from blue light exposure, helping to plump and hydrate skin throughout the day, for one-time only application. The Blue Light Anti-Aging Screen Protector has also proven to lighten skin discolorations and dark spots by 72 percent, increase collagen production by 37 percent, and restore hydration levels to 97 percent.

“Consumers have been heavily educated about the damage that UVA & UVB light, from sun exposure causes to their skin, but not as many people realize the significant damage that HEV and blue light can cause to the skin, at the molecular level, from their technology devices,” says Nicole Simpson, founder of Amethyst Skincare. “For as much time as we spend sitting in front of our computers and using our smartphones, our skin needs a protective shield against this damaging light that is absorbing it of the skin’s moisture. I am very proud of the technology in our Blue Light Anti-Aging Screen Protector and the barrier it creates for the skin.”

Five days of exposure to blue light can have the same impact as spending 25 minutes in midday sun with no protection. Similar to UVA & UVB exposure, blue light can also cause oxidative damage to the skin. However, blue light penetrates the skin at a much deeper level, where collagen and elastin reside, contributing up to 90% of visible signs of aging such as wrinkles, brown spots and rough texture.

The brand’s founder and beauty veteran, Nicole Simpson, perfected this serum using her extensive knowledge in skincare over the last 15 years. As a medical esthetician, biochemist, and former AVP of Global Education and Business Development at SkinCeuticals (L’Oreal) she has not only trained some of the world’s leading dermatologists, but she is science and research driven.

About Amethyst Skincare:

Amethyst Skincare is one of the first skin care lines created for the sole purpose of protecting the skin from the damaging effects of the environment. The collection of paraben, gluten and cruelty-free products focuses just as much on pinpointing how the skin responds to environmental factors and using potent ingredients and an innovative delivery system to protect the skin, as it does on being an environmentally sustainable beauty brand. Founder Nicole Simpson built the brand with more than 15 years of extensive knowledge, industry experience, and a science-driven background. Currently, more than 85 percent of beauty products are not recyclable. Amethyst Skincare is 100 percent recyclable through TerraCycle, created with waterless production with a goal to be carbon neutral by 2022, and is committed to supporting 4Ocean – an organization devoted to removing plastic from the world’s oceans. Consumers can feel confidant knowing that for every five Amethyst products sold, one pound of plastic is pulled out of the ocean.

The Blue Light Anti-Aging Screen Protector retails for $125 USD and can be found at: skinbyamethyst.com

National Conscience Month Scholarship Essay Contest for High School Seniors

“Let your Conscience be your guide.”

“We are now asked to engage in the existential struggle between darkness and Light, animal and Divine. The forces of Light can dispel the darkness only when each of us convinces our ego, senses and unconscious to follow the unerring wisdom of our Conscience.” Leonard Perlmutter

The American Meditation Institute’s National Conscience Month observance has announced a special opportunity for all high school seniors to participate in the 2nd Annual Conscience Essay Contest. This year one high school senior will receive a $1,000. scholarship for the best essay written that explains their personal experiment with employing or disregarding the wise and good counsel of the conscience.

In daily life people are moving and reacting quickly, rather than making discerning choices. At present there is no school curriculum focused on teaching students how to evaluate options or how to use their Conscience as a practical resource tool. In part, this national essay scholarship contest intends to help establish an awareness in today’s youth of the positive value of regularly using their Conscience as a trusted guide that will lead them toward a happy, healthy, creative and productive life.

High school seniors can enter the scholarship contest immediately, and submissions are accepted through January 21, 2021. The contest winner will be announce the last week in January, 2021.

The mission of National Conscience Month is to foster a national conversation that inspires individuals of all ages, and governments, school systems, faith leaders, non-profits, community organizations, corporations, atheists and agnostics across the United States to consciously experiment with using their Conscience in choosing their thoughts, words and deeds. The month-long observance identifies January 2021 as the perfect time to clarify our vision by using the Conscience as an inspired and trustworthy guide to making better decisions.

According to Leonard Perlmutter, founder of The American Meditation Institute and originator of National Conscience Month, “If we can learn to follow the sage advice of our Conscience in determining which thoughts to think, words to speak, and actions to take, we have the power to create a more perfect union in our lifetimes.”

Music Industry Pros Launch We Are All Music Foundation (WAAM) to Support Nonprofits Impacting Lives Through the Power of Music

News Image

In just over a year, we have been able to bring together a group of talented people to build a platform and central voice to support nonprofit organizations that use the power of music to positively impact people’s lives.

We Are All Music (WAAM) officially announces its launch as the first-ever music foundation dedicated to providing meaningful support to nonprofits that utilize the power of music to positively impact lives and benefit society. The announcement was made today by Mary Crawford, Managing Director, We Are All Music Foundation.

WAAM emerged from its 12-month planning phase and, confronted with the unprecedented challenges the pandemic presented to the nonprofit sector, the Foundation made the decision to accelerate its grant awards process. The grant selection team rigorously vetted nearly 300 applications from music-oriented nonprofit organizations representing a diverse range of causes including Education, Health & Wellness and Underserved Communities. Today, WAAM proudly announces the recipients of the Foundation’s inaugural “Power of Music” grants: Education Through Music, Guitars Over Guns and Hip Hop Public Health. These three remarkable nonprofits are being recognized for the positive impact they are making to benefit society through the power of music.

“In just over a year, we have been able to bring together a group of talented people to build a platform and central voice to support nonprofit organizations that use the power of music to positively impact people’s lives,” said Tres Williams, EVP, Business Affairs, iHeartMedia and Founding Board of Trustees member, WAAM. “We have only just begun to do our important work and are excited to bring on more partners and donors to help support our mission.”

The We Are All Music Foundation was founded by a group of music professionals, media executives, business leaders and philanthropic activists who share a passion for music and believe in its power to positively change lives. WAAM’s Board of Trustees is led by an Executive Team comprised of three founding board members — Tres Williams, Michael Solomon, and David Zusman. They each bring a strong track record for building successful organizations, and the heart and fortitude to lead philanthropic endeavors.

Tres Williams, who in addition to iHeartMedia, has been on the management teams at Thumbplay, eMusic, Sony BMG and Zomba Group, was recently named to Billboard’s list of 2020’s Top Music Lawyers. Michael Solomon is a veteran in the music management and philanthropy sector having co-founded talent management companies, Brick Wall Management, Agent On Demand, and 10x Management and is also the co-founder of Musicians on Call, the successful nonprofit that is the largest provider of live music to patients and caregivers in healthcare facilities. He recently co-authored “Game Changer,” available now via Harper Collins. David Zusman brings over 20 years of investment and business development experience, managing capital for endowments, pensions, and multi-billion dollar family offices as the Co-Founder of private equity firm, Talara Capital Management. He is also the creative force behind the songwriting and production collaborations at his Exit 151 Studios.

These are WAAM’s inaugural “Power of Music” grant recipients. They will be featured in a special episode of WAAM”s Power of Music Series livestreamed event on Thursday, October 29, 2020. Details to be announced shortly.

7-Time 212 Mr. Olympia Champion James “Flex” Lewis Forced to Withdraw from 2020 Mr. Olympia

To his own disappointment and that of his countless fans around the world, IFBB Pro League athlete and 212 Mr. Olympia GOAT Flex Lewis announced Friday that he will not compete in the 2020 Mr. Olympia. The decision was made in conjunction with Flex’s team of sports medicine doctors, who deemed his shoulder injury too deleterious to compete. Perpetual front runner that he is, Flex by his own admission agonized over the dilemma.

“Since doing my first show at 19 years old, bodybuilding has been my life,” said Flex. “So making this decision with my team was not easy. I fought it hard, and still struggle with it, but I am now mentally focused on the rehab process. Every bodybuilder’s dream is to become Mr. Olympia; I have achieved this feat in the 212 class not just once but seven times over. After stepping away from the 212 class, the goal shifted to becoming the first ever two-division “Champ Champ” – a feat never achieved in this sport. I truly believe I was on course to showcase something special. Unfortunately, it will not happen this year.”

Mr. Olympia, dubbed the “Super Bowl of bodybuilding,” is typically held each September in Las Vegas. Per COVID, this year’s competition was rescheduled to December. Flex Lewis has been competing actively since 2008, winning the 212-pound division an unprecedented 7 consecutive times. In 2018, Flex retired from the 212 Olympia division and announced that he would be taking on all comers in 2020’s Open Class. Those plans now derailed, Flex moves forward with the Miami Orthopedic & Sports Medicine team in his corner. They’re game planning an aggressive rehabilitation program along with stem cell treatment from BioXcellerator.

Lewis continued, “The decision not to compete was made easier when my medical team stressed that if I continued to train I could do even more damage, which could have threatened or possibly ended my career. Pushing through pain is something athletes are accustomed to; I have hidden a lot of injuries throughout the years, as I had to this point. But I have to come to terms with reality. Now my entire focus is on my health and rehabbing my injuries to return a bigger, better bodybuilder than ever before.”

This tempestuous news comes with it a silver lining: Expect to hear from Flex in the coming weeks as he documents his road to recovery. You’ll follow Flex from the therapy table all the way to the 2021 Mr. Olympia stage as he strives to do the unthinkable—become the first ever two-division champion in both the 212 lbs. and Open Class ranks. We wish Flex a speedy recovery and look forward to the show -the gun show- in 2021.
