The SOSA-aligned design of the VPX3-TL module offers embedded computing capabilities that are easily reconfigurable and upgradable, highly cost-effective, and quick to develop and deploy.

Interoperability between different systems – including Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR), Electronic Warfare (EW), signals intelligence (SIGINT), cognitive radio and radar – is critical. The SOSA standard is one of several standards that fall broadly within the MOSA initiative. SOSA centers on key interfaces and open standards, based on the VPX standard (VITA 46/48/65), and aims to develop a common, modular hardware architecture across next-generation, mission-critical applications.

The ADLINK VPX3-TL Series is SWaP-optimized and includes up to 64GB DDR4-2666 soldered ECC SDRAM; 2x 10GBASE-KR or 2x 1GBASE-KX; one XMC expansion slot with PCIe x8 Gen3 to P2 rear I/O; USB 3.0 and SATA III, (formerly known as SATA 6Gb/s), for high I/O throughput. Options include up to 1TB M.2 SSD for secondary storage. The Intel® RM590E chipset with Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) secure boot and dual 256Mbit SPI flash supports Microsoft® Windows® 10, Linux® and VxWorks® 7.

Rite-Solutions Awarded Potential $7 Million, Five-Year Task Order to Maintain Navy’s Manpower System


Rite-Solutions was awarded a new task order under the Rapid Product Development and Sustainment (RaPDS) Multiple Award Contract by the My Navy HR IT Solutions Office (PMW 240) under the Department of the Navy. The order has a Period of Performance of one year with four additional option years and a total award value of up to $7 million.

The company will support and maintain the Total Force Manpower Management System (TFMMS), which currently supports a user base of 2,200 recruiters and military personnel who maintain manpower data for 9,718 activities and annually complete 1.2 million transactions in the system.

Rite-Solutions will be responsible for system design, development, cybersecurity, testing, and deployment of system enhancements, upgrades, and integration with other applications.

“The entire portfolio includes custom and off-the-shelf, defense and commercial business system software,” says Andrew Thibaudeau, Program Management Office Director for Navy Business Systems at Rite-Solutions. “We may also help the Navy move the system to the cloud, eventually.”

The TFMMS systems are located at the Data Center and Cloud Hosting Services (DC2HS) Atlantic in New Orleans, Louisiana. Work will be performed at the Rite-Solutions facility in Middletown, RI, remote, and at the DC2HS facility as needed.

TRICK 3D and Discovery Kids Latin America today announced their co-production agreement on a first-of-its-kind animated talent competition series, “The Jolliest Elf.” As part of the agreement, Discovery Kids will hold exclusive media rights for all of Latin America and the Caribbean.

The series offers a fresh holiday special concept for families as well as a new production technique. The 12, seven-minute-long episodes are being created using real-time animation powered by Epic Games’ Unreal Engine. This new animation technique using real-time game engine technology has the potential to bring more interactive animated content to market faster than ever before. Atlanta-based animation studio TRICK 3D, helmed by Director Chad Eikhoff, has been developing a new real-time animation pipeline over the past five years.

In season one of “The Jolliest Elf,” five talented contestants from across Santa’s Village in The North Pole will compete on stage to win the title of ‘Jolliest Elf.’ As with any competition talent show, “The Jolliest Elf” features a charismatic host, Mr. Jingles, and three lovable judges: the glamorous and talented Glo; the hard-to-please critic Tiny; and the lovable and encouraging Frosty. Viewers will have the opportunity to vote on their favorite contestants as episodes release and votes will be tallied before the final episode to reveal the winner. “We found in The Jolliest Elf a great opportunity to bring an innovative, fun and heart-lifting competition series to Discovery Kids,” says Flavio Medeiros, Director of Program Sourcing and Acquisitions, Discovery Kids. “It was very exciting to work with Chad, TRICK 3D and the North Pole teams in this unique show that will surprise our viewers in Latin America this holiday season.”
